Hey I just thought I would introduce my self since I will be moving to Springfield this Saturday. I met Sang briefly at MAXOUT. Hopefully I can get some training sessions with some of you guys to strengthen my fundamentals. Maybe Sang and I could talk shop about Viper, since Im so damn lonely in KC as the only Viper player.

Zana, all you need to know is to show up to Meta Games Monday at 7 pm. We usually play until 10, sometimes later if the store will let us. It’s always great to add to our scene, hope to see you out there soon.
Sounds good.
Anyone score an early copy of super? I’d like to try it out so i’m not leagues behind come the 27th.
Not unless you are pirate or your name is Justin Wong.
I’d be a pirate but I like ninjas too damn much.
But pirates have guns.
SSFIV to keep this on topic.
Well, let’s just say we had a very “Super” night tonight. Great seeing everyone, and hope to see you all at Gamestop for the last SF4 tourney before the official release of Super!
So who is everyone’s main / mains?
I don’t think I know any of the characters I play inside and out enough yet to call them a main but I like to use: Rufus, Sakura, Dan.
Trying to learn Dhalsim, Abel, Fuerte.
I have a pretty good Blanka but I just don’t have fun playing him anymore.
When I started SF4, I played Sagat (tierwhore ftw), but after a while, I got bored with him and moved to Gief. Now with Super, I’ll be switching to Hawk (who I really wanted to play from the beginning, being that he’s my main in HDR) and learning Hakan as well.
Also, don’t forget everyone, come on out for our SSF4 launch tournament at Gamestop this Monday night (that means we won’t be at Meta this time) at 8PM. Address is 3530 West Sunshine Street, hope to see everyone there! After that, it’ll be back to our regularly scheduled Monday night events at Meta.
I main C.Viper from the beginning and continuing with her with super. I like her changes in super. Her jumping hk is a lot better than before. And I can poke with cr.medium punch and cr.medium kick. Super jump feels a little slower for some reason. I also noticed I have to slow down with my FFF. I think Viper is easier to play now than before. I’ll be at gamestop at 8:00.
I mained M. Bison in SF4, and dabbled a bit with Abel, Chun-Li and Ryu. In Super I think I’ll play either Cody or Guy (I’ll play Guy if I can get his technique down, damn you have to be fast with the stick!), with Bison as backup. Bison got improved a little in Super, but he’s also slower. Other than those two, I’m digging Dudley, maybe Makoto, and Ibuki if I feel like a sadist.
There is a possibility I might not be able to make it to GS until 9:30/10:00. So you can either re-work me into a later bracket or I’ll just hang out and watch when I show up and maybe get in a casual game or two if time allows.
Thanks for responding!
I’ll have to get in some practice with you guys sometime. I never get to play a decent Viper, Bison, or Gief. Should be fun since I’ll get to learn the matchups. I’m used to playing G1 online and it’s just Ryus Sagats and Balrogs all day.
How technical is Guy this time? I never had too much of a problem with him in A3 but he seemed different when I tried him out earlier in the week. The new jump arcs on qcf + P are gonna take some getting used to for sure. I also hear he can FF chain into ultra in the corner. Didn’t get a chance to try it out though with Terry slamming me all over the pavement with T Hawk. haha
Been trying to learn the Fuerte RSF loop this week. So far I can only get two reps :\ I’m loving El Fuerte Ultra Spark. That move is too good.
Getting the chain into Ultra in the corner is easy, but the chain only works on a standing opponent. To do it to a crouching enemy, you have to do cr.lp link (or if you want to hit low, cr.lk link to cr.lp) to standing mp-hp cancel to LP hozantou into a FADC - Ultra SUPER FAST. I’m slowly getting better at it, but it’s not easy. Guy does decent damage, and most of his combos are pretty easy. However, he has serious problems with grapplers, because he is best when he is in your face putting the pressure on. He’s definitely not Viper or Ibuki hard, but he’s not necessarily easy to use. I’m still trying to figure out a good gameplan with him.
Awesome, it’s good to hear some Guy impressions.
Can’t wait till my copy comes in the mail. I might be able to help contribute.
Won my second G1 championship with Fuerte today. Beat boxer in the finals via timeout. lol
Hey Warden here’s some Daigo SSF4 Guy game play from last night’s fight night:

I remember watching those insane vids a long time ago of him using Guy in Alpha 3.
That’s nice, I like his empty jump to throw, gotta add that in to my game…basically what he does is how Guy works. You mix them up and you never lay off the pressure, they’ll slip up eventually and you can do your damage. It’s crucial to get your combos down though, Guy doesn’t have much life (well, he’s not weak, but I think it’s a little less than most) and you have to maximize all your opportunities.
After actually playing with real people, Super is amazing. Honestly, it seems like any character has a good chance to win, but with 35 characters, I haven’t seen all the matchups yet.
Also, don’t let Cody get the knife. ^^
