CABLE is a Bitch and A :lame:
couldn’t of said it better myself … btw just started to play spiral yesterday…wish i would of done it long ago… she is fun… i either play storm or magneto with her and sent
Team Spiral/Cable/Storm
I like using Spiral/Cable/Storm. One, because I SUCK with Sentinel. And, TWO Storm is good anyways!
Make sure Storm is on Variable Type assist. It’s the one where she throws a Vertical typhoon.
How to use this team:
Since Spiral is MAD slow you probably won’t get the first hit off, so just block low or jump back and call Cable’s AAA for a hopefully free sword load. Once you get swords, I like to just throw them out + Storm’s assist. It’s not a trap, but it sure works hella’ good! And, builds mad meter. Watch out if your fighting against Cable though, he can AHVB that shit, so teleport to the other side of him just in case. Do the Spiral/Storm “trap” over and over and over again until you mess up or they get out of it. If they start to come close to you, teleport low the ground to the other side OR, if you have swords loaded, tiger-knee motion, light kick (the circular swords thing around Spiral) xx a free sword load. Basically, just try to gain as much meter and annoy your opponent as much as possible with the Spiral/Storm “trap”. Usually, they start making a lot of mistakes cuz this is SO annoying. So, take advantage of any mistakes by alpha countering Cable in, xx AHVB.
With Cable on point, you’ve got a choice of two “traps”. Again, these aren’t really traps but a way to build meter and make your opponent mad so that they’ll mess up and you can AHVB their ass. 1. You can either shoot the gun times 4 + Spiral’s assist xx light kick grenade. Or, 2. You can either shoot the gun 4 times + Storm’s assist xx light kick grenade. Don’t do any of that shit against Cable though, he’ll fuck you up! But, against everybody else, they’ll try to jump out of it, and hence they get hit by a grenade or have to block it. In either case, it’s either a free AHVB or a continuation of this annoying “trap”. The choice between using Spiral or Storm is up to you. But, Spiral’s is better at making them mad more since it does more block damage. And, Storm’s is better at keeping them from superjumping out of it. But, it’s still hard to superjump out of the Spiral version since they’ll be having to hold back all the time to block all that shit you are throwing at them! And, trying to press down, up really fast is a little difficult. Even if they happen to superjump out of it, wait till they get midscreen, and just wavedash with Cable to the opposite side (unless an assist of their’s is blocking the path of course)! But, it’s better to use Storm if Spiral’s health is down since you started off with her. Let spiral regain some health.
That’s really the gist of that team! As Spiral, all you’ve got for protection against rushdown is Cable’s AAA, which ain’t all that great either. Just remember that if you already have swords, and you tiger-knee motion, lk. (The sword circle around Spiral move), and if they block it–THAT is a free sword load and also a free moment for you to proceed to the Spiral/Storm “trap”. If they block Cable’s assist-THAT is a free sword load. If they are fucking up Cable-THAT is a free sword load. If they are running away, obviously, that’s a free sword load. I haven’t tried it yet, but if you superjump and they superjump with you, and you teleport back down and call Cable, that might be a free sword load.
Guys basicly Sprial Is doing her sword runnaway until she passes out…or until you get bored. By That time should guard Counter to cable…leaving him with four gauges.
Sprials Job: Throw swords like a bitch while building guage.
In a sense Cable is Pimping her.
My Team:
Sprial
Sentinel
Dr.Doom
Do you put Doom on that assist where he shoots pink stuff all over the place? I tried using Doom on that assist and it works pretty decently. However, it just doesn’t time like Storm’s. If you have tips with using Doom’s AAA with Spiral-I really gotta’ know! Because that would make my Strider/Doom killer if Spiral would actually survive a little longer in that team.
Blackheart’s AAA is also a pretty good assist for Spiral.
I’m not a Doom guy, but I’d imagine the rocks cover sword load, and the sword chuckin’ covers doom coming out.
spiral sentinel
can some one explain the moves again from the beginning to end of the spiral sentinel trap? Explain from as soon as the game begins and spiral is up against the opponent before they can attack… which is better pressing against them or back away?
Positioning myself before a match isn’t too important imo… If you don’t know wether your opponent wants to stay close or not pre-match, back up and find out if he follows you. If not, great!
When the match starts, be mindful of who you’re up against and the speed of their assists.
If you’re playing against Mags, and you don’t have Psy, Cyke or Cammy, or some fast/invincible assist, just block low, push, and start your game. If you do have a fast assist, call it.
After awhile your opponents will know that you block when you start a match, so they’ll try to throw or jump in on you. But you can see those coming from a crouch block position. No problem there.
If you’re playing a slower opponent, that has no fast or invincible assist, by all means be aggressive
banshee
u goto evo?
no
I’ll go one of those days
For the next Marvel game maybe
all these are good tips and all but i would like to know if anyone knows how to play wit spiral against cables and strider/dooms…i know spiral is supposed to be cables opposite but the minute i mess up on trying to lock swords i get viped or in strider dooms case i cant do anything just wait till the trap finish’s then lock swords the i’ll try to do my best to get rid of strider before he gets another special. any tips please reply…
p.s. i use sprial in this order spiral/cable/sent.
can spiral work well with doom?
Spiral and Doom can work alot like Spiral/Sentinel but you have to change how you play it. Doom’s rocks have a long startup time that leaves him vulnerable to beam supers, and since they don’t go after the opponent immediately its harder to keep your opponent pinned down. I suppose you could dash forward, toss some swords, and call in Doom when you’re standing very close to the other character and let the rocks hit a few times before they are launched and run back while tossing swords. I think Doom does more chip damage than Sentinel but again I don’t think it’s quite as reliable.
Just my 2 cents.
Yes very well. Ive been using this team for about 2 years now. And, in my style of play, it works better than Sent does. Dooms rocks chip faster than Sent’s assist. Also, Doom as an assist, has better corner chips and reseting patterns than Sent as an assist does. I have some videos of me using Spiral/Cable/Doom. If you want, let me know… Or, run a search on DC (direct connect) or IRC, of my name: iMPULSZE.
BH works best with her,you can stay away from capcom assist and just do walll of swords all day(w/sent you tend to dash in alot for pressure=bad vs capcom)
-if they jump out call BH after an airdash or dj and jump up and circle sword them, reload and start again
-the hardest part is just staying away from mag and storm, you have to use your anti airs VERY carefully.if you fuck up with a cable antiair, your going to get mixed up and eat 100%,if you tele port you eat 100%
-she actually does do good vs sent, jus dont tele or qui8ck drop alot, playing all these mags and sents scare me so im even tempted to play spiral/cable/commando or spi/BH/capcom,any1 have any sucsess with these??
-capcom sent can really jus ruin your game its trully a time to switch to cable
I used to use various Spiral teams years ago. Spiral/Cable/Sentinel, of course… a little Spiral/Cable/Cyclops… a bunch of Spiral/Sentinel/BH. However, right now I’m sold that Spiral/Sentinel/Commando is the best Spiral team you can ask for, for today’s MvC2 games.
Spiral can already fight the non-Sentinel rush. The trick is leaving the char behind her in a position where they can do the same. This is one reason why I don’t like Cable in the middle any more.
Spiral can fight Sentinel… but not if she’s got Cable in the middle, again. She needs her AAA, and she needs a better one than Cable’s, and even on the occasions when Cable’s is good, he’s going to get pounded enough for it that he’s going to be in bad shape when he comes out, and then you’re going to be stuck with either a mangled Cable or a possibly hurt Sentinel on a team that isn’t optimized for him at all. This is where Commando comes into it.
Commando helps tremendously against Sentinel for Spiral on point. With Sentinel’s drones also back there, Spiral can fend off the non-Sentinel rush as well as the Sentinel stuff. And moreover, Sentinel, with Commando also helping him, will be able to use the meter Spiral gives him for chipping, for firepower, or whatever, and he’ll be able to fend off the rush just fine while still having plenty of offense… hence, the team as a whole is in pretty sound position. If, heaven forbid, Spiral should get snapped out by someone who thinks they’re going to be exploiting Commando, you’ve also got a safe DHC to get Commando out in favor of Sentinel. (Although if Sentinel also gets snapped out shortly thereafter, you’re SOL.)
