Spies like us: The MvC3 C.Viper Team/Matchup Discussion Thread

@chrisis

lol sry man, i forgot you have no console atm.

I’m thinking of surrounding her with Chris (Machine Gun)/Taskmaster (Horizontal) and Trish (Hopscotch or Peekaboo). I still want to start off zoning to lighten the load. I don’t like starting 800k characters on point - especially ones with high execution requirements like Viper.

Problem is, Viper is really best as a point character so you can exploit her game with assists and her setups on incoming characters. Zero actually seems a bit redundant on your squad.

Viper for some stupid reason has 900K health, bizzle should be at 800 for sure.

Out of those I think Viper/Trish/Taskmaster is optimal, it gives you ridiculously good DHCs into unblockable set ups and gives Trish lots of extra damage and ways to convert hits into dead characters instead of just injured ones.

900k? Wow. She’s spoiled. That’s just better news.

I’m sure there are some infinite reset loops for Viper using Trish assists, so I may play around with those. Thanks.

Viper don’t need no stinking resets. She’ll just kill your ass outright.

Not using Zero and Viper together anymore. Wanted to as I have the most fun playing them, but it’s too many problems with it. Maybe I can make it work if/when more characters are added.

But… but… resets are fun :frowning:

Well, I’d like to hear what you come up with, they could be useful off the throw. Usually when I run Trish I just use Low Voltage.

Mainly what I had in mind were using traps to reset into a grab. In theory allowing you to loop the same combo over and over.

You can do stuff like that solo with Viper using BK feints, double jumps, and her OTG, but traps could be stronger. Still, grab resets usually only work once or twice against good players (and that’s assuming that its not obvious), and in my experience beating grabs with another move is really hard in the game.

There are some creative ways you can do instant grab resets with trish. I’ve done a few myself that IMO are pretty strong

This is such a huge gripe I have with MvC3 damage is so high that there’s no incentive for resets, which really sucks some of the fun out of stylin’ with Marvel.

Most of the resets come from screw ups. It’s still good to practice those situations so it doesn’t even really feel like you messed up.

I think Viper has room for a good reset game off her grab, as that’s the only thing she can’t ToD off of. Plus Grab>rest should equal death if successful.

I’m finding some more ways to get in with viper and I think I’ll be changing my blockstring on any given character soon for very very instant overheads. My only problem with these new blockstrings is that on hit my maximum damage combos (as of now) do about 200-300k less damage. So resets are becoming more and more likely. As much as I hate to say it.

You talking about the fuzzy guard stuff? I haven’t played with that yet but I think EX BK should let you get really good damage out of it.

Nah Not fuzzy guard. Did find a simple fuzzy guard that can go into a combo. Tridash jS (land) (jump) jH+MagProjAssist (land on other side) s.M s.H into whatever or heavy TK feint. Basically the idea here is to confuse them with the fuzzy guard and the reset will have you on the other side of them as the mag assist hits them. You will hit the ground in time to combo.

What’s a fuzzy guard?

Fuzzy guard is a really stupid fucking name/term for putting someone in standing blockstun and then right after hit them with a rising attack (so basically like an instant overhead). They will naturally be holding downback so the rising attack should connect. It is a really retarded term/name like a lot of fighting game lingo which absurdly doesn’t make a lot of sense at times. Fuzzy guards are only practical for certain characters in certain games though, a lot of it is more theory that never gets anywhere.

Fuzzy guard is just generally you cause them to block high and the blockstun keeps the opponent standing when you do another overhead. Even though they will be holding down back they will still get hit because block stun dictates they’re standing.
