Speeding ticket

If you really want to fuck with the cops(especially if it’s unmarked pullover).
Just say: "Can you can call another officer to the scene? I don’t believe you’re a real cop."
And they have to do it. It’s your right to ask for confirmation. And it pisses them off to no end.

I do this because I figure, if they’re going to waste my time, I’m going to waste theirs too.

Yeah, in California going over the speed limit is pretty much the norm, on a typical day without much traffic (but still a good number of cars on the road) people usually go 75-80 in the left lane on the freeway, where the posted speed limit is typically 65.

So yeah, I do actually feel that the poster’s situation is pretty ridiculous. In fact, there are numerous times I’ve gone 60 in a 45 and passed right by a cop and not been pulled over. Maybe I’m just lucky, or the officer(s) was/were in a good mood or something, but when it happens enough times you start to think that can’t always be the case.

I only got a speeding ticket one time in my life was going 44mph in a 40 mile zone…Got a ticket for going 4 over the limit, i was fucking pissed…I went to the courts & the judge told me i can go to class to get off your record, so i did…Fucking waste of time & money…

Most places 10 mph over the limit is about the minimum you’ll get pulled over for, so I feel your pain.

Are you serious!? that’s fucked up bro

holy mackerel! now THAT sucks lol
I wish it was 65 here, 55 is dumb. If everyone was driving 55 during non traffic hours, in matter of minutes it would look like rush hour.

yeah man, that suck lol
like you said, I understand if they wanna be a little strict in residential areas but 10 mph on the freeway? This isn’t about safety, this is about money. And no I did not do anything to stand out except for going 64 in the left lane. You’re right, maybe he was having a long day or maybe he needed to get someone before he could go, I don’t know how these things work. He came up and said I was going a little fast gets my info comes back like 35 min. later, hands me the ticket and tells me to leave. That was it, all he said was go, I didn’t find out what he tagged me with till I got home. smell like a bad day to me lol

That’s the problem with this generation, and with (current age) america at large: no sense of personal accountability. Nobody wants to accept the consequences of their own actions.

You deserve a ticket for using the invisible “highlight my important words guys!” font.

Cops around here will start pulling you over at 10. Whether or not they let you off with a warning depends on a mixture of your conduct during the traffic stop and the stuff that comes up when they look at your record. The closer you get to the college campus, the more interested they are in busting kids with open containers and the less interested they are in everything else.

you should move to a city where the cops are too busy to write speeding tickets

you can drive whatever you want to risk in Detroit. drunk. fast. its all good. just dont ever actually need them for something

i once caught a guy in the act of stealing a car. i call the cops when i see it. when i drive by he’s leaned over fucking with the radio with a footlong screwdriver in the seat next to him. door locks are clearly punched in, plates removed. at this point he’s removing valuable items. i circle the street and wait half a block away. cops took a full hour to show. dude pulled off 10 min before they got there

then when my car got stolen, i recover it myself and call the cops. another hour later they show up. theyre like “police reports are for full coverage insurance claims etc.” what a joke

just be happy your area has cops with enough time to catch people going 10 over

you were 10 over the limit, over here they’d get you for being over 3 and above. Depends if the cop is total jackass and needs to catch somebody.

yesss gonna start using this

one of my friends got a ticket for going 5 in a 3 mile zone on campus, pretty stupid. i have never gotten a speeding ticket just warnings. but i did get a ticket for not having my seat belt like three times.

It’s a bitch. Especially if you are going with the speed of traffic and the cop decides it’s your day. What’s even more annoying is people trying to do the “right” thing and go with the speed limit in rush hour traffic where everyone else is going 10 over, that person is not only messing up the flow but is also a potential safety hazard.

You can’t fight speeding tickets in court as many people have done in the past and the cops have caught on to the whole “well if I’m not at court the person that I gave the ticket gets off with maybe a slap on the wrist” or what ever. All you can do is take the defensive safety class in hopes your points are deducted or taken off completely.

Personally ever since my subaru wrx shit the bed, and I’ve been driving a grandma wagon, I’ve had no issues with the cops. But that will change once I get my sportbike soon, oh well , that’s life, sometimes you just get a ticket and go on with it.

No. At least try to fight it. won’t cost you a sent and the cop may not show up and it’ll get thrown out. Otherwise get on the stand and say you were going with the flow of traffic (at 4 AM that might be a stretch, but I’m sure you can embellish/improvise) and make the cop prove your guilt like they’re supposed to. Got a fighting chance, use it. The more people stop rolling over and taking it the sooner cops stop exploiting relatively harmless drivers for $$$. Where I come from, cops routinely drive over the limit.

Meh idea. Don’t know about Hawaii but here in Texas cop get the day off to go to courts for the tickets. Had an asshole one pull me over 10 meters away from my apartment. He alleges i ran a stop sign, I claim bullshit on that one because I stop in all of those. oh well, hopefully Hawaii lets you get off with that defensive driving option.

I went 110 mph in a 65 just because i was really bored on the empty highway. Cop caught me when I decided to slow down at 90. Just shrug it off and move on. Went and bought an mp3 player after that incident.

I’m in TX too. Did not know cops got off for that, but I did notice that the cop I was pulled over by had three other cases before mine.

I particularly liked the girl who insisted that the cop was “lying.” The judge got on to her for using that word instead of something less accusing like “mistaken.” I got a ‘not guilty’ verdict. ::nunchuck:

I got stopped for goin 10 mph over but I can’t really argue that. Though the real BS was when I got pulled over for coming out of a parking lot without my seat belt on.

depends. I’ve been pulled over 5-6 times this year.
