Spectral vs. Generation

So Oni_Ryu, I ve never played either of the 2 games that these characters are from. In SvG Erile has some guy or spirit who does about half of his attacks, who is that guy suppose be?

Just like before a fight you’ll see some spirit next to Roze, and in one of Hiro’s win poses she has some female spirit which hovers above her.

Actually, the console release got bumped indefinitely to sometime in April.

New elements are:

  1. Survival Mode

  2. Bakuen Kakusei - Fills up the super guage to maximum state for a limited amount of time and allows the player to perform actions requiring guage infinitely as much as the time allows. How long the state lasts depends on how many super bars are being stocked.

  3. Kenma Renzan - Upon activation, characters will be able to perform combos of 10+ hits. I assume it’s something similar to dust combo in Guilty Gear. This is quite interesting cus Kenma Renzan is actually a name of the generic special used by many swordsmen in Idea Factory games, where the character cuts at the opponent many times over.

Well unfortunately I can’t completely answer your questions seeing as how I have played them but cannot understand them completely  I’ll try my best though.

Erile is the main character from GoC Next (technically the 2nd game in the series.) He ranks as my favorite character in the series so he’d be the guy i’d pick up first in this game. I’m not exactly sure what the deal is with the spirit, but I do know he has an attack called “Lucy’s love.” Princess Lucy was the lead heroine in GoC Next and Erile’s love interest, its a possibility that spirit has something to do with Lucy (she was a magic user after all.)

Wells is a pretty big bad ass. Contrary to what most people might think he was actually the secondary lead in GoC III. The main character, while I don’t remember his name, strikes a small resemblance to Jin from Samurai Champloo (long black hair, glasses, more nobleman looking.) Wells fought along side him during some kind of war.

Roze is the main character of the first GoC and is actually half human half orc. Her mother and sister were killed because of their racial difference and she now despises human beings.

I don’t know much about Hiro, I do know that she does have demonic blood within her so I wouldn’t be suprised if she had some kind of spiritual connections. Suprisingly she appears in both the Spectral and GoC games.

Unfortunately, I don’t know how accurate my information is about these characters, but I hope it helps.

And if you are taking interest in the series, GoC IV was just released over here on the PSP. Hiro, Roze, Wells and Erile are actually in the game as well (albeit much cooler looking.) NISA is also planning to release one of the Spectral games on the PSP as well.

wtf

How can you not know about Hiro? She’s basically the flagship of Idea Factory. Everything started with the original Spectral Force, and she’s been in more than half dozen IF games afterwards… as both main and special character.

Hiro was born as the daughter of the demon god Janus and human girl Maria. She’s the second child under Janus’s bloodline but ultimately becomes the only one alive after the Second Neverland War. She is often considered the most powerful demon (well, half demon) in the Neverland world, and has very strong affinity to the fire elemental and darkness elemental… and also possess the ability to suck others’ souls. She’s been plotting to resurrect Janus to restore world order after he was slayed by the Three Heroes.

My favorite appearance by her is still in Spectral Force II, but she was pretty cool in Spectral Souls II also.

On a related note, Jadou is a physical manifestation of Janus’s grief and hatred when he descended on earth. He is technically considered as Hiro’s brother but the two hold a strong hatred for each other.

I should have mentioned, I’ve never played the Spectral Force/Souls games before, only the GoC games, even so i’ve had a difficult time grasping exactly who she is due to language barrier.

Thanks for the info on the characters though, if you have any other knowledge on them, please do share with us.

I use to have most of the mache videos I could find online but there haven’t been anymore it seems. Though I had to reformat my PC so all those matches are gone now. If anyone has any match videos I would love to check them out again. Thanks.

Since this game just came out on PS2 can anybody link me up with some match vids? I know they exist because I remember seeing some soon after the arcade version came out. Also is it quite as broken as it seems? I played it for a while today and it seemed that almost everyone had really simple corner infinites (and at least one midscreen). Unless there’s some crazy recovery thing I don’t know about.

they don’t like fighting games that was done by IGS ( chinese/taiwanese )
*sarcasm *

I know in the Arcade version if you pressed the (D) button a couple of times after being hit in the air or if a move knocked you back, you’d be able to recover (it’s just like how you recover in Last Blade 2).

^^ you’re right, I didn’t know that. The only thing is, even if you put this option on in training mode (which I’ve done since I started playing) it still doesn’t actually escape from juggles. That’s why I was confused. Plus the cpu doesn’t do it at all, even on the hardest level. It doesn’t make sense.

This game really really has strange-looking animations, the characters really move like if they had something in their ass :s Also, they haven’t as much charasim as the chars from capcom’s and snk’s fighting games… Thought, the game is still fun to play with an engine similar to guilty gear games… even if it isn’t as fun as a guilty gear and some interresting ideas like a bullet-time like feature.
About the ps2 conversion, the loading times are rather fast, so you haven’t to worry at all about that… If you should make a choice between svg and ggxx /, I would take for sure ggxx.

So the CPU in the PS2 version doesn’t like to recover? Strange cause in the arcade version it’ll recover 9 out of 10 times, and if I were to put it on the hardest difficulty? well lets just say it would be teaching me a thing or two about the gameplay.

dude, boot up the game and put it on very hard. You can juggle the computer to death. I’ve yet to see one air recovery. Like I said it doesn’t even do it in training mode. If you’re implying that I’m talking shit, play the game and see for yourself.

if not I apolgise

the game is in DVD format right?
my ps2 can’t read CD format very well

Is stuff like this guaranteed?

Pick the suikoden 1 lookalike guy (that fights with his hands only). Get them in the corner and do A-B-C xx qcb+K then mash A alot. The training dummy seems to not tech out when air tech is turned on.

Seems silly.

wouldn’t you guys rather play the idea factory rpg titles the characters are based on? eh, eh?

dunno… i seriously wish idea factory commissioned this game to somebody other than igs.

no

^____^

well, i said that just cus i was very familiar with i.f. games for quite a while. yea i know, it really has nothing to do with fighting games.

but when i first heard about svg, i was pretty excited… then pissed (in a bad way) when the actual game came out.

I just got the game today and well. The game isnt that bad. you could have fun playing this game. NOt sure about tourny worthy but its worth giving a shot in all honesty. a few points i would like to make is.

  1. the graphics are really bad lol
  2. the music is good tho. Its something i could get in to.
  3. gameplay seems kinda sluggish but meh. cant get everything you want.
  4. the game seems to be pretty shallow. but i could only see you playing this game with your friends really.

The graphics don’t seem to look that bad. Its seems quite fluid.
