Latest trailer. I expect this to be a typical platformer, and that’s all I really want from the game.
May is the release month that IGN has, but when an official date is out, I’ll make note of it.
lol@ title.
Not sure if this thread was needed for this game. I’m a big RKA 1 fan myself. The other ones dropped the cute look and amazing soundtrack and with those went the charm. The sequels weren’t bad, just different.
This new one looks to take after part 1 though. I approve.

Fucking Climax? I was surprised to see their logo at the end of the trailer.

Haha, is Blast Possuming a play on Blast Processing?
I always preffered the snes version to the mega drive version, I still have the first stage theme in my head
I’m interested. I hope it turns out well. Of course I said the same thing about the Vandal Hearts sequel and that was a disappointment.
If this ends up sucking then I quit video games. Waste of life.
Rocket Knight Adventures on Genesis is divine.
If there’s none of in it, then I don’t give no fuck.

less of that and more of this:
also, the mech boxing on nthe snes version was better but still annoying after the second fight
Well I don’t know if Rocket Knight is going to be divine it’s certainly got the feel of RKA. Like if you ever played RKA and loved it then you’ll slide right into this one, no troubles. Controls scheme is perfect. X is melee, Y is long range shot, A is jump (and mid-air burst), B is jet boost. You bounce off the walls and collect gems and beat baddies like in all the old games. The graphics are clean, and colorful, with little details all over.
I only got up to the first flying stage but I like what I see so far. Like Climax did not try to fuck with the RKA formula too much. You’ll understand once you start bouncing off walls and sliding on pipes and boosting through baddies. It just all comes together.
In the long run though I’m gonna guess that this game could use a bit more meat to it. Like platform challenge levels or a boss rush mode. I’m a Rocket Knight Adventure whore so I knew I’d be buying this and it’s worth $15 to me but I can see people not digging the price so much.
Anyway, a demo never hurt no one and it’s long enough to get a feel for the game.
I’m DLing the game ATM, and when I can add funds to my PSN account, I’ll purchase the unlock code.
Nice to see some positive feedback, but I agree that additional modes like FurryCurry mentioned would be nice additions.
Next to sonic2, 3, snk, hd remix and mass effects 1,2 RKA is my favorite game the level design is flawless and it has such excellent pacing introducing something different then the level before. Also the music is broken tier I could listen to that shit all day on the way to work. I don’t expect this to be nearly as good but if it’s above horrible I’ll be happy.
Back when it came out I cuto ut the last page of the manual to mail out for a sparkster hat and shirt which cost like $20…Konami never sent my shit Sep if you’re reading this you owe me!
I played the demo and really enjoyed it. Normal mode is…kinda easy, whereas Hard mode is hard xD.
Hard mode has MORE enemies onscreen, and I think bosses may do more damage to Sparkster.
Gonna try and purchase the game within the next few days.
Oh and if the firs stage’s music doesn’t get you pumped for the game…
I know right?
And I’m glad to hear that Hard mode is just that because normal is pretty easy. I died on the first boss because I wasn’t being aggressive enough.
Here’s a neat trick: While boosting if you tap boost again you do more powerful spinning attack.
And speaking of level design, so far so good. The levels are longer compared to RKA but that may be at the cost of fewer ‘themes’ in comparison. The designers of RK really are going to town though with using pipes and hazards. Nicely done in the first world. The first boss was too easy.
I know that a lot of people were hating on the graphics before it came out because it didn’t look exactly like RKA. It’s so in the spirit of the original RKA with the little expressive animations and short story bits. I can see why this is truly the direct sequel to RKA and not the Sparkster games.
I hope that this game does well enough to get Konami to really push for more modern sequels/remakes of games. I’d love to see a sequel to Contra Shattered Soldier or even Contra 4 (that retardedly hard game). Granted I am aware of the Rebirth titles on Wii but I own an Xbox and next a PS3. I’d like to get some 2.5D love for those. I know we are getting that crazy Castlevania but I heard that the sprites are GBA/DS sprites which is like a slap in the face. They don’t look that fucking good on the DS, let alone a 720p and up HD TV.
But really, I want a sequel to Rocket Knight already with the same beefiness that Megaman 10 got in comparison to Megaman 9.
Look in the how to play menu lots of cool moves give sparkster more freedom then in other games especially with how big the levels are lots of room to fly around and do shit in. The LBP graphics are awesome fuck the haters.
Amazing game so far but the music while better then many others is kinda meh it sounds muted and not so unique then again RKA had possibly the best soundtrack of any game so maybe it’s in the comparison where it falls short.
I really don’t like this game. The bosses are boring, and the level designs aren’t clever at all. Very anti rka.
But I’m glad to see the series come back. I guess.
The game is also available on Steam.
I enjoy the new one. I’m a longtime fan of the old games. I have all 3 and was rocking them again recently. It’s definitely not as challenging as the old ones (though I haven’t done hard mode yet), but it’s entertaining and I like the rocket cancels and additional elements the old ones didn’t have. It’s a bit longer than I expected, too. In the time it took me to beat my first playthrough once I would’ve already ruined the pigs/wolves in the old ones, twice over.
I don’t see RK setting records, though. I still think the older ones are better and wish the pace of this one was fast, like how it was in Sparkster (SNES). But I’m glad to have a new game in the series at all. Back in the day, people bought trashy games all the time for $50+ and didn’t even realize how bad they were. They didn’t complain about shit games, and here we are getting something fun for only $15. I’d say that’s a pretty sweet deal.
And as always, if you want potentially better RK games to come in the future, you have to support this one! Or they’ll put him to rest for sure this time. Playing dead can only work for so long.
I wish you guys had said something about how it’s not currently out for the US psn.:shake: I was all set to buy this game up right now.
Dl’ing the uk demo myself now
The best thing about this game is how Sparkster controls. It’s really fun to have him move around and fly around, feels extremely responsive and is probably the best iteration of using a 3D world but having a game be played in 2D. Most other games have slightly jolty or stilted movement, which jars me, particularly in platform games.
That said, level design and boss design could be better. I was surprised at how short the game was, but it was certainly fun while it lasted.
One thing I noticed was that when you fall off a cliff, you just lose one heart as opposed to losing a life. Now, lives are sparse, so I guess that makes sense, but I feel that the game becoems too easy with this, since you can just fly over gaps with little to no fear of repercussion.
