For JLF lovers and people who are in doubt about the JLF (like me), it’ll be worth it.
(Meanwhile, the quest for the perfect JLF spring still continues… for most of us. My problem with harder springs is that pretty soon you put on too high a tension on the joystick and it stops feeling like a JLF or LS-32…)

I’ve never used an optical stick before this, so my initial impressions may suck. First, it’s amazingly quiet with micro switches! Secondly, with using a square gate, the directional feel is still fine because I never rode the gate before anyways, so my muscle memory on input was fine. Using the stock JLF spring, it felt like a slightly worn in JLF. Very, very smooth though. I like the idea that I can get completely used to this and not have to continuously switch out JLF’s to retain that “feeling” I like. The unit by toodles itself was an exact swap for the sanwa board, drop it in and good to go. No worrying about if itll fit or if the gate will cover it completely. The only thing I might be looking for is a slightly “tighter” feeling, but I feel that could be accomplished with the spring, as others are looking for. That’s just nit picking though, it feels good!
Just curious, will this fit/work properly in a gutted stock SE JLF-knockoff? I’ve tried to frankenstein a “JLF” from bits and parts of SE + some sanwa stuff, and it doesn’t come out right. Just wondering if I were to cheap out and not buy another JLF housing, would there be issues?
Would you really want to risk putting it into a stick with a known history of chewing up and spitting out the pcb installed in it?
News: Prototype yellow housings arrived. They look great, but there is some light bleeding through and causing erratic behavior. This color and/or plastic won’t do. I’m gonna chat with the maker and discuss other plastics or other color options.

The only thing that I would put inside an SE stick is individual microswitches, but yeah the washer can come off, rub and grind away at the PCB traces.

damn toodles, i always saw this tread on tech talk but thought you were trying to buy a flash replacement hahaha. Glad i looked today, because having a 4 month old baby girl, the more quiet i can be while playing the better. I am looking forward to launch of this.
If dark blue doesn’t work, how about red? You know, like The Flash?

I’ll be buying one for sure. I vote for a Dark Red enclosure, because that would fit perfectly with the MK stick I’ll be putting it into. Hope this is released in time for MK9.
