Eh. Not true in comparison.
I know that his combos are indeed shorter in Ultimate… But that’s only by comparison. They may be a bit shorter now, but they’re still ridiculously long. Same principles still apply. 
They may be shorter but the relatively small amount of damage they do means your likely going to sit through the show more than once.
