so I got the space ghost/dino boy dvd set and Im really enjoying it.
Im definitely going to get the birdman and jonny quest dvd sets, seeing space ghost again really makes me appreciate the old school hanna-barbera shows. I started to really fucking hate them because now all they do is scooby-doo crap.
its also made me appreciate alex toth more, Ive been looking at some of his character art and I really love his style. is there any comic work he has done thats readily available?
Most of his comics work can be tough to find, unfortunately. As far as I know, the one book that is easiest to find is Zorro. http://www.amazon.com/Zorro-Alex-Toth/dp/1582400903/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196584433&sr=8-13
Other than that, I am not too sure of where else to find his comics work. A lot of the comics he did were short stories in nonsuperhero genres so that’s what makes it difficult to track down. I bet if you sleuth around a bit on the Web you can find a comprehensive bibliography.
There are also Jonny Quest comics that are supposed to be good if you’re interested in those. And I think the Space Ghost miniseries from a couple years ago was good stuff, too.
I’ve always tinkered with the idea of making serious comics around the Hanna-Barbera superhero line. I figured Space Ghost, Mightor, and Blue Falcon would work.
The johnny Quest comics weren’t by him, they were by various guys really. Doug Wildey did some of the best covers. But of course, yes those are his designs. Johnny Quest is one of my favorite cartoons.
