So for fun I’m setting up a tournament in GGPO for ST entirely for the Southwest forums and including only so for latency reasons. How many of you actually play ST on GGPO? A date isn’t certain yet and an entry fee would probably be looked down upon (if not I’d make it $1-$3 or so) and it is entirely for fun regardless. Yeah, it is online so you can’t claim your skills 100% but it could be a blast regardless. All we need is a couple of more players, someone to spectate outside of playing, and we would be set. Just throwing it out there… If I get a few more entrants I’ll post up in the tournament forums. Otherwise, I’ll just have Ranma delete this. Thanks for considering.

-For those of you wondering, no funds would be taken by myself. All fees (if any) would be split among the top 4. If need be you could nominate someone to hold the funds via a paypal account or we could just do this all pro-bono and have a good time without money involved. Also, if there is any conflict with something of this sort being ran through a mod’s eyes, I ask that the thread be deleted immediately. (discuss?)
The USGS does not define regions, so regional definitions vary from source to source. (Present your case if it seems questionable or if you have some gdlk connection.)
If some want to pay and others do not we could have an optional side pot of sorts for those who are confident in their skill and set it accordingly given there is more than one donation. (Or not?)
Should latency be a requisite? If so, what should the minimum latency be for any two players?

The best organization for the tournament would occur from either meeting up on the forum the night of, on IRC via an EFnet server in a new channel we could gather in, or an already existent one such as #capcom, #ggpo, #ggpotest, or GGPO itself.
I do realize that this may take some time to organize correctly but the more support there is the easier it could be to set a precedent and tournament standards for online play. Even though this tournament may not take place, the hypothetical discussion may aid future arrangements. It just seems to me that attempts past never really lived up to their expectations. With that I ask that everyone (even people outside of the Southwest) offer their input. Thanks again for looking over the thread and responding accordingly. Bring on the hate.
im a bit skeptical to how this would turn out. optimistic idea, how this turns out depends on how organized it is and the interest of the players i suppose.
edit: its good seeing the initiative. if people in the southwest like super turbo, then players should support the cause to make both this game, and the community expand and thrive.
we will run this using a AIM chatroom on a specific date and time.
everyone has to be in the AIM chatroom to be counted as bein there.
from there we will post the matches and those 2 people go play and then report back or someone spectate to see who the winner is.
the aim chatroom makes things easy to keep track of and we dont have to hunt down “SAID PLAYERS” for their match cuz if they aint here then they dont play.
just my 2 cents and ill help you run it if you want just get a date and time… prolly late at night or something.
