Went there Yesterday, NICE place in a chill ass spot. Reminds me of CTF for some reason lol. Amazing spot though, I think they should put an MVC2 machine in and a DDR Machine in the back =). I was the Rufus player on AE and the Wolve/Zero/Akuma MVC3 player. Was hella cool seeing Justin, Paniolo and tastyLumpia. Playing cvs2 was legit also.
BTW any chance in the future for a stick upgrade on the mvc3 cab and button swtich? I dropped combos cause of it =___= lol
Gonna be epic to see how things pan out for the ranbats. If iplaywinner is going to be streaming it too, that’s going to be amazing publicity for the place. I’m trying to improve my KoF game for their ranbats coming up very soon. Oh, while we’re on the subject of KoF, for anyone interested in the game and also into just some nice, honest fun, I’m running a small “for fun” event for the game.
It’s a ladder match system. You can make a challenge once per day and you go up and down on the ladder by how many points you earn. I manually edit them so results have to be sent, but I really think it’s a great way to get competitive and comfortable playing competitive people.
I suggest for the Ranbats you turn off the pay as you play and turn it into Double elim, most people Button Check before each of there sets which can easily take up time, also make it double elim cause for 7$ I dont wanna get randumbed by a Wolvie…and one more mvc3 set up so we can have 2 running side by side.
Or you can turn another one of the Cabs into a MVC3 cab or PUZZLE BOBBLE lol.
GGs to those that I played today in marvel-Im the deaf dude playing wolverine teams. First time Ive been at southtown Arcade and it was tons of fun Next time my execution wont be so ass hopefully! ps3 and xbox frame rates are really different and screwing with me lol.
I wanna go for MVC3 Ranbats but not if I have to pay 7$ for single elim… THEN pay each time I play? Maybe if it was double, For single you should really do 4-5$ especially since some of us already spend that cash on bart and parking.
The MvC3 ranbat was really fun! Big thanks to the Southtown gang for putting it together, can’t wait for the next one.
Some of us did have to pop in some quarters when time ran low, but Simon was really good about throwing in a ton of credits when he noticed the clock was running low. Overall though, the tournament ran smoothly and the matches were fun to watch (even the Phoenix Fests were hype). I ended up in fourth running Wolvie/Sentinel/Jean.
Prob won’t be in tomorrow for AE, gotta catch up on some work… and I am super ass at that game.
Oh man, I played you yesterday. Great job using Haggar assist to catch my Wolvie dive kicks, I gotta learn how to get around that. Seriously good games!
Great job on the ranbats today guys! Everything went pretty smoothly and it closed out by 5! GG’s to the Sakura player, as well as to Will and the Akuma player. Congrats to Pavo for winning the whole thing. Can’t wait for the next one!
sup, miggy? i was the sakura player. you gotta let me run it back the next time i see you…i need the guile practice.
shouts and propers to southtown for running the event…and apologies for coming back later on a little drunk. my homeboy told me i was talking some shit.
Thanks to everyone who showed up for the Ranbats and thanks for all of your support!
We’ve decided to run Double Elimination all the way through for all future Ranbats/Tournaments; things went much smoother and much faster than we anticipated! This is largely thanks to our awesome community for being on-time and ready to go!
We’re still attempting to find a good way to squeeze Marvel and AE into the same day without issues… once we figure it out, we’ll start doing them on the same day! This will likely occur near the end of July, assuming everything goes as planned.
We’ll begin CVS2 and 3S Ranbats in July! Please stay tuned for more announcements on this!
Lastly, we will likely change the pricing structure for Marvel Ranbats and leave the cabinet on free play; this should hopefully be agreeable to everyone involved!
Thanks again, everyone, for your feedback and for being awesome!
Yeah, appreciate the staff making sure everything ran smoothly. I love that hella salty sticker.
I saw that the next Marvel ranbat is scheduled on July 9th. There’s a Fremont tournament (top thread of Pacific North) running on the same day, it might conflict with local players’ attendance. I don’t know if it’s possible to run Marvel on the same day as AE, it’s your guys call.
I say you guys Take one of the Back random games and turn it into another Console Cab like, AE or Marvel and switch it depending on the day ya know? Since AE is out it wouldnt hurt to have 2 Cabs, One console one Arcade.
