Southeast Pennsylvania players

I’ve been working with Nick on the Brawl in the Mall stuff. Should be a great time.

I live in Downingtown (right next to West Chester) and I would be up for weekly casuals as well as hosting them. My house has a finished (mostly) basement with plenty of space, dartboard and dedicated beer fridge. I have 2 PS3s and 2 360’s. I just play on my regular LCD and LED TVs which I don’t think is an issue for casuals.

What days of the week are you guys available?

That also sounds good, though I wish we lived in less of a scatterplot so we could do some efficient carpooling.

Any day of the week is good, depending on my work schedule, which I haven’t gotten yet; I only have class on Tuesday and Thursday.

Just realized the first mall tourney is the day after my 21st… forgive me if my play is a little sloppy XD

Anyone down to try and work something out for this saturday or the next? I’ll be free anytime during/after the evening on those days. If not, on PSN my name is “Key_Loc” just like my SRK name.

I’d be down to play this saturday. Next saturday might be fine too but I could be getting ready to go back to school then. I’ll also add you on PSN

Well damn, I have a good apartment, but I can’t compete with a house and a full basement. Nice. I am also very much looking forward to the event.
If you don’t have a crt that could be an issue for older games, but I don’t know if people want to play PS2 or DC games anyway.

I can be available almost any night, I’ll just be tired for work in the morning. Do you have a day preference since we would be invading your life/family/home?

What games are you guys interested in? What do you compete in or want to compete in? The big 5 from evo? Older evo games? Random other stuff?

I am playing SF4 almost exclusively right now. I got my start in fighters a few years ago, and ended up being a top Brawl player (ugh), I was probably the best Olimar worldwide for a few months. But I saw the light after playing Blazblue and switched over to traditional fighters. I haven’t taken any of them as seriously, so I haven’t been winning tournaments besides for BB, but I’ve been doing well enough. Currently I’d say my best game is Blazblue, but I don’t really actively play it. I’m pretty good at Marvel 3, though I traded that in a few months ago since it’s not really my game (fun, but felt like it was less about solid play and more about who had the trickier tricks) but nothing I can’t shake the rust off for in a few games.

My current longterm goal is to be a top player in SFxT shortly after it comes out; I wanna be winning big tournaments for that, or placing top 3. I know it’s lofty but after winning so many tournaments in other games I get so pissed even when I get top 8 or whatever. So right now I’m focusing really hard on SF4, I haven’t focused like this on a game… ever, I don’t think aha, but I’m trying to use SF4 to better develop the skills I’ll need for SFxT.

I’ll play whatever though, I love fighters.

Haha. AndyG, I also “ugh” at my time spent with Smash bros. Don’t regret a second of it, though. Anyway, I play SF4 a bunch. I REALLY want to play some MvC3 because I hate the online and I have no one to play with locally so I just practice stuff in training mode. I also play Tekken 6 and I mess around Soul Calibur a bit. I’ll also be playing Third Strike for the first time when it drops next week.

No need to compete, we can definitely try to rotate the hosting. I have a handful of different setups throughout the house. I do have a CRT setup with a bunch of old systems if we end up needing that.

A Tuesday or Thursday night would probably work best. I am thinking around 8 since I don’t get home from work until 7. We could also try to set something up on the weekends. I couldn’t guarantee to be available every weekend, but if we set up some sort of rotation, that would probably work out pretty well.

I have a bunch of games and I’ll play just about anything so I think we could run at least 2 different games each week. Just depends on what people want to play.

Today’s my only day off and I got nothing to do. I’ll be on PSN for AE and MVC3 casuals pretty much all night. Get at me if anyone wants to play

I sent you a friend request already. Add me and ill play you later tonight.

Hey does anyone want to play some MvC3 sometime this week? That game is horrible online and I’ve never gotten the chance to play someone who knows how to play offline. I’ve had the game since launch and I still haven’t had the chance to play a functional game with a real opponent.

I’m terrible at MvC3 but I was thinking about trying to host a session this Thursday if some people want to try to get together. I’m thinking 8:00 at my house in Downingtown. It anyone is interested reply here and we can figure out the details.

Yeah I’m down for thursday night.

Got my work schedule – the only day I work that conflicts with game stuff is Tuesday, I work 8-10. So if we’re doing a weekly thing, I’d prefer for it not to be on Tuesday, but if it works for everybody else, well, that’s life T_T

Also, I work 4-6 Friday nights, but I’ll probably call that off if there’s a tournament somewhere so I can get out there.

We should carpool into Philly once the ball gets rolling to hit up the University Pinball tournaments.

I’d be down for some MVC3. My work schedules all over the place tho, doubt I’d be able to make it to an 8 on Thursday…maybe if i had a week in advance to find someone to cover for me.

I don’t think this Thursday MvC3 session will be our “weekly thing.” I just REALLY want to play some offline MvC3 games for once. I’m going to take note of everyones availability and those who offered to host so we can organize our sessions a big in advance. Weekly sessions don’t have to be on the same day or at the same place every week. I’m still setting up my living situation and my class schedule so I won’t know my exact availability till around next Saturday.

Alright, it looks like at least for this week we can do a small session at my place. We’re good for Thursday at 8:00. If you’re interested, shoot me an email (harfmil at gmail) and I’ll send you my address and phone number. We can order food if folks are hungry.

I’m mostly into SSF4AE and MK9, but I have most of the popular games covered and we can play whatever.

PS3
SSF4AE
SF3TS
SSFIIHDR
MK9
MKvsDC
MK2
T6
SC4
WWE Allstars

360
SSF4AE
MvC3
MvC2
VF5

I have a bunch of older stuff as well.

So I just came back from Harfmils house. He’s a cool guy and his house has EVERYTHING. Tons of consoles, a billion games (I counted), nice TVs, dogs, beer (that I didn’t drink), and gingerale (that did drink). We played a bit of MvC3 and a bunch of SSF4AE. You guys missed out.

T_T I wish I had been back in town. I come back… tomorrow. And then I can get out to whatever!

Ha! You forgot to tell them about the whoopin’ you issued for MvC3. I’m pretty terrible at that game, but now I have a good reason to get some practice in and get up to speed. SSF4AE was all good though, definitely some close matches… I think you edged me out about 60/40.

What did you think of the TV in the basement? We just got it and that was the first time I had done any offline games with it. I didn’t notice any issues with input lag at all.

I can try to plan another session in the next week or so if people are up for it, just let me know.
