South Jersey places to play

Hey I just recently got back into fighting. I looking for some places to play off-line with other players. I’m looking at casual play, and later some small tournaments. I’m in Cumberland County, so about an hour from Philly, and Atlantic City. Any good places around that area that could better my skill?

I’m going to be holding UMvC3 tournaments in Egg Harbor Township in a couple of weeks. I’ll be posting it here on SRK when I can announce it within a couple of days.

Cool, I hope I can go.

We have some offline meetings every month or so in north DE, closer to you than Philly. Check out the DE thread if you’re interested. We play mostly AE and UMvC3, I think a few guys are really into that KOF13 jam too.

u might wanna check out nerd palace on monday nights. people go there to play UMVC3, SSF4AE, and they have shitload of older games on cabs so check em out.

I live there, went to regional. Live on Centerton. Awesome to see somebody else plays fighters in bumfuck.

I’ll be honest with you – there is NOWHERE to play within an hour’s drive, and most tournaments are gonna have you going 2 or 3 hours north, or to philly which is a mess in and of itself  I only get out to things because I go to school near Philly. But I’ll be home for winter break in a couple weeks and we can do it up and see if we can’t find something to head out to, if you’re interested!

Here’s the events I’m holding that I was talking about, just got the event page up: [Dec 15, 2011] Thursday Night CLASH! South Jersey UMvC3 Tournament (Egg Harbor Township, NJ)

Yeah Andy, might be able to work something out. I’m sill very new to the VS series. I need practice, i invited a friend over. while I’m not great, he wanted to pick all random teams, so I didn’t feel right using my current team on his totally random team.
I live in Bridgeton so…

Hey,
The tournaments my group throws are around the Cherry Hill area.

Please check it out!

Alright I’m back home. Literally free 24/7 this next week so lemme know whenever you wanna play.

My next South Jersey UMvC3 event is going to be next week: [Dec 29, 2011] Thursday Night CLASH! (Egg Harbor Township, NJ)

your best bets are the cherry hill group and nerd palace on mondays. between the two of them you should be able to get a couple nights of gaming a week at least

I NEED HELP! I’ve been playing fighting games for a long time now, but just recently i’ve decided to take them more seriously. I really love playing and I don’t mind even losing to someone that is better than me, but what is really starting to get me is when I lose to someone I knew I could have beat. My win/lose ratio on and offline in AE and UMVC3 was pretty bad and SFxT is not looking much better at the rate i’m going.

I have come to the realization that I know NOTHING about fighting games and I need to throw away everything I thought I knew and start from scratch. When I say “nothing”, I literally mean I need to relearn how and when to block, how to recognize basic attacks like cross-ups, spacing, how and when to attack, etc.

I don’t really know what I need to practice on or how to practice effectively, but I do know the key to success is these four things in this order

  1. Know what you want!
  2. Have a plan, and a success coach!
  3. Take consistent action!
  4. Review the progress and renew the goals!

I know that I want to improve my overall fighting game play and knowledge. Lets face it, winning is fun and right now i’m on the verge of not having fun. My plan is to practice two to three times a week with my “success coach”!

I am writing this in an effort to either establish a scene in my area or to find one so that I can begin training with them. Hit me up if your as ready as I am to get good! I’m the Jackson area!

Well, you’re only an hour from the Break and the Rutgers area people. That’s your best bet – the level of competition there is just as high as it is anywhere in the USA and you’re closer to them than the south jersey people.
