South chicago suburb bar fight? Inquire within!

Hey guys,
The Rack, a sports lounge, just opened up last weekend and we’re looking for a good way to bring people in. Depending on the popularity of this thread and how many people I can get to show up, I can have 3-4 of our 50 inch plasmas dedicated to SFIV weekly tournaments. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

There are definitely people interested in this, but I will go ahead and ask the usual questions that the community will have whenever a new venue is presented.

What is your address/location?

Are the TV’s tested for lag? (A test with Rock Band 2 will allow you to determine if your televisions have a delay which can seriously hamper the experience for many street fighter players.)

How late can you stay open?

How much space does your establishment have around the televisions?

I would suggest that you check out the Chicago thread to get a feel for the individuals that you may try to contact in order to get coordinated with console system provision, tournament management, and time synchronization.

on top of the questions marcus asked, just letting you know that another chicago player just started doing bar fights also, somewhere on ashland. not sure of the bar name, but he started doing his last weekend. you guys might want to discuss something to be able to alternate weekends or something.

also, plasma/lcds are generally not used for tournaments since there is more then likely a chance of lag. for casuals they are usually ok, but not tourneys. if someone was to bring a rockband2 test out, I’m more then positive you’d see lag on the screens. crt’s are usually preferred for tourneys to avoid the whole lag issue all together.

but yeah, definitely check out the chicago thread and introduce yourself there as well. if you’re in a location that’s easy enough for both chicago and burb people to access, you should start getting good turnouts. welcome!

The Rack Bar and Grill
11011 Southwest Hwy,
Palos Hills, IL

Open til 2 every night

All of our LCD/Plasmas are the new 09 models from samsung/panasonic and have no lag issues.

I’m just trying to find out how many people would be able to make it out here on a weekly basis before we finalize tournament rules/regulations.

As for space, we are a fairly large location that can hold 100+ gamers in the designated area. We have over 20 flatscreens throughout the whole restaurant.

im 18…can i still go play there?

I doubt I’d make it, since it’s an hour south for me, but I wish nothing but the best of luck!

It would most likely be a weekly tournament for points until 11:00pm, then casuals until we close.

also parking situation? do you have a designated lot?

location isn’t too bad, bout 20 mins south of where I work. I know a few peeps that would probably make it out there.

and start times? especially if this is on weeknights this is going to be important, tourneys with 30+ people can last long times, and a lot of people work early shifts.

we have plenty of parking
debating on doing it on sundays

Sundays would be interesting. I’d recommend starting the week after MWC/EVO North (which is the 12th-14th).

I would come out.

Wow…palos is really close to me, interesting
