Soulcalibur II HD Online

The older version of SC5 may have been more ‘balanced’ since Viola was waaaay overly buffed post patch, but older SC5 also had safe backdashes, which was the worst since SC5 was supposed to be about reducing overly safe movement (what with CH sidestep and all). Can’t have both, I guess.

Which, funny enough, overly safe movement is totally what I love about SC2, lol. Both work when the game is built properly around it’s own mechanics. The only reason the bottom tiers are bottom tier in SC2 (Raph, Yun) are because of how specficially hard it is for them to stop movement, especially poor Raph, who has like… almost nothing that stops Step-G left.

The original Soul Calibur is the best 3D fighter I’ve played.

>b-b-but Cervantes was OP because he wasn’t balanced with the arcade cast

So? Does that make the game bad? It doesn’t override the fact I thought the movelists were just the right size and the basic mechanics of the game had reached a zen between approachability and depth. SC2 fiddled with GIs too much to be my favorite (otherwise it might have had a case). III restored proper GIs but botched too many other things. Not a “bad game” but it was my least favorite Soul Calibur.

The original Soulcalibur was okay. I have it on the X360 and I go back to play it from time to time and I hate the movement in the game.

I never had that much interest in SC2 back in the day. Later on I wanted to try the game seriously once I started playing Soulcalibur competitively, but the old players either stopped playing offline or went back to Tekken or move to other games long ago, and in general, people usually don’t go back to older fighting games.

Hopefully the game does well offline.

:frowning: Not even one new post since the Spawn thing?

Spawn rocks! But, no Steam Release so my Spawn Hype has been Stomped.

I’m very happy to see him return. Now if there is some way to bring Link which will never happen :(.

Wasn’t Spawn trash tier?

I think all the guest characters were (but I think I can make Hei work).

Actually, I believe Hei was somewhat high tier.

I’m excited to get Spawn. Seeing my favorite comic book character in such an awesome game it always good. I’d imaging that they would balance him a bit better than he was, since the game balance is pretty well known at this point.

That could be surmised with “Necrid was OP.”

Ive still got the guide for this, 1 of only 2 paperbacks i bought xD (the other one was for FF X-2 because like a faggot i didnt invest anytime into how bad it was and ended up being used as toilet paper).

But damn, am so HYPE for this.

I was under the impression that most of them where ok, but not high by any means. I mean link was fun and had gimmicks but I don’t remember him being op or anything. I wonder if all of them get in will they finally be included for side tourneys? But then again most people will probably continue to just run V whenever Soul Caliber does get some love. II was really fun though.

The only heard of Heihachi and Necrid being stupid, but I wasn’t around during the SC2 days to see for myself.

At this point, you would have to allow everyone until there’s a valid reason to ban someone since the reasons for banning them in the past are no longer valid. However I haven’t see much interest from people in playing the game in tournaments again.

Honestly like alot of the remakes outside of a casual scene the game probably won’t do much to get back into a main event type position VS and all of the HD remakes have pretty much proven this. Upside will be people who loved the game will get to play it again in an easy format and maybe new interest will be garnered by a whole new audience that never got to play the old ones.

Someone mentioned Link.
Only thing odd about him was a near guaranteed ring out throw he had.

SC2 for Gamecube was the first fighting game I brought with my own money for a console. It’s crazy how long ago that was…

Thinks.

This…seems vaguely true for me as well. I think I picked it up at the same time as F-Zero GX.

First fighter I bought with my own money was Star Gladiator for PSX.

Does anyone know how many people play SC2 online on Dolphin? I wouldn’t be opposed to picking up a used copy to get some practice in before the release.

Honestly, if Namco produced a Wii U version that included Link I’d double-dip.

But only if it’s got Link. No reason to if it doesn’t.
