Just read through the rebalancing thread and I just love how some people want Rose nerfed. Like, come on. One guy said that he wanted Rose’s slide to be -2 on block, even when hitting with the tip. HA. Okay.

so he wants it to essentially be to as bad as ryu’s sweep on block w/o any of the benefits of knockdown, speed, and comboability? Make’s perfect sense. It’s not that pretty hard to do a perfectly spaced slide considering if they just back up 1 or 2 pixels it becomes a free whiff punish. If they walk forward a pixel or two it becomes too negative to really do anything but bdash.

I’m pretty sure teleport gets away free unless he’s near the corner. I can punish it if i preempt a dash but that’s risky as fuck. You can MAYBE do a EX FIREBALL on reaction. And in what world is akuma’s options against Rose fifty fifty. Considering he can cross up, command throw, empty jump low, empty jump throw, any option you choose will lose to the a plethora of other options. Now ryu. He puts you in real fifty fifty’s in oki situations. High or low. Uppercut or throw. I’m of course only talking about oki situations.
Opinions differ from player to player. But to me, akuma’s on my list of fucked up matches. Akuma, seth, viper, yun, yang followed closely by fei ken sagat. After that is sim rufus abel bison balrog etc etc.
I mained Akuma in Vanilla and midway through Super. Since I switched to Rose, I’ve won the majority of my ranked matches in Super and AE. I’m proud to say it was definitely me finding a character that matched my playstyle.
Because you either block, or you backdash; it’s a 50/50.
He can’t do oh imma option select command grab sweep.
It doesn’t work that way.It’s kinda easy to see the start up of teleport. You can keep yourself out of range of wake up dp and the longest range of cr. short and if they teleport you can decide then.
It’s a 50/50 on wake up; last game he couldn’t even do that when we had our ultra; he had to do safe palm unless he wanted to eat damage he couldn’t afford against Rose.

I played a bit of Makoto and Rose in super as well. Ibuki/Juri was a recent one. I didn’t play enough of Rose in super to appreciate U2 so I’m well used to using U1 :p. Love catching jump ins with it although I do wish it was a bit faster.
If he crosses up, then you’re going to FORWARD dash into him and get punished. Blocking normally will also lose. EX Spiral won’t auto correct, will whiff and he can sweep afterwards. You can block cross up or FORWARD DASH(which is actually bdash since he’s crossing us up). Essentially you have to know he’s going to cross up.
If he does the flip into slide, it’ll beat BOTH bdash AND EX SPIRAL since it has a lot of active frames. If you block crossup in this situation, you also lose but this usually won’t happen in this type of situation. You can only block, though slide is admittedly extremely punishable on block.
If he palm OS sweep then it’ll catch your bdash, focus bdash, and crossup block. It will lose to EX Spiral at most ranges though it will occasionally beat it out.
If he just palms you, then your bdash will win, blocking is at a disadvantage, crossup block loses, and spiral loses.
Finally, of course flip command grab beats all blocking and loses to bdash. I think it might recover in time to punish EX Spirals but do correct me if i’m wrong.
I think i have all the bases covered? Well he also has a divekick but I really don’t see the advantages in doing that unless it’s just to mix it up. The safejump flip palm, flip palm OS sweep, flip slide, flip grab, flip crossup low, cross up tatsu alone seem to beat a majority of your options. It’s not just bdash or block. It’s bdash, block left right, or reversal. And he gets to choose to do any of this pretty late into the jump arc.
Feel free to add or correct any of this since this is just from the top of my head.
If you backdash a cross up; it will auto correct the correct way :/.
It’s obvious to tell between a jump and a palm.
If he just jumps in for a cross up attempt; block either left or right, 50/50,
If he does a palm; backdash or block, 50/50.
No one shuts down Akuma; Rose has a bad wake up game, but against Akuma, it’s all just 50/50; and it’s pretty hard for him to get a knockdown in the first place unless you’re a bad Rose player.
Well to be honest that’s half the battle for me at this stage. I pick U1 now just so my hopes aren’t dashed on the rocks of reality as I watch U2 get stuffed again. I think Rose would be a good alt as she’s pretty basic in her make up but it’s the little details that will decide if you succeed. If she turns out anything like your Sakura I’m sure you’ll be just fine.
I pretty sure he has a setup where he can
A.) empty jump low short
B.) go for a normal jump in
C.) tatsu cross up at the last second into a sweep
All with the same jump in. That’s a high low left right mixup. But maybe you consider that just 50 50 since it’s only block left or block right.
Even if you block, it’s still in HIS ADVANTAGE. His crouch strong is +2 on block. That means he can cr. strong walk forward cr. strong. His frametraps are really good.
If you limit your options to only block and bdash then of course it’s 50 50. I factor in Rose’s reversal as part of her options. Man, if you put it that way, just blocking will increase your success rate up from 50 to 100 percent. It’s flawless. So easy too. You shouldn’t ever be mixed up by vipers or akumas anymore now that we know this.
Akuma has one of the best sweeps in the game that’s basically unpunishable. The fact that he can spam it with basically no worries is retarded. That with his jump in low fireball/ ex fireball walk forward block basically makes it easy to combo into tatsu for an untechable knockdown.
Akuma can combo into an untechable knockdown. Rose HAS to go for a throw/sweep for one. Akuma has setups against Rose. The majority of Rose’s setups lose to teleport. Any setup against teleport is extremely risky and has a low success rate.
Of course i’m making this match out to be hopeless but in reality this is 6-4 tops. It’s by no means sagat gief or guile sim. Hard nonetheless.
They’re 50/50’s; it’s no different from what Zangief has on your knockdown, he can empty jump low short, empty jump cmd grab, empty jump lariat, do the cross up, not do the cross-up; it’s still a 50/50 because you either block or backdash.
Oh wait, it’s his advantage.
Oh his sweep is extremely punishable, especially as Rose. And that’s a 50/50 for Rose too; Akuma has to block your cross up attempt or teleport the correct way, which is definitely risky.
Teleporting is definitely risky.
And Rose takes Chunks off Akuma’s health like well; this is one of the match ups where Rose’s quick efficient generally low damage output is like extremely effective and scary for the opponent.
It’s in Akuma’s favor; but it’s not like Rose v Akuma in Vanilla. Shit was difficult. Prob a good 7-3, because Rose had a lot of those in Vanilla; and they weren’t in her favor.
Just picked up rose about two weeks ago and curious as to what to do when I am getting conrner presured? Rose in the corner doesn’t seem to have an easy way out
pray you have meter to either gamble during a frame trap with EX SPIRAL. Against better players however, i’d recommend canceling a normal into ex fireball to gain back some space. That way you can move forward and take it from there.
i probably should have asked for this before. I’ve been playing rose for a while now but now i need a little more help with new frame traps and upping my game.
