Vega has always been a hard match for me, but Sim being 5-5?
Give me your secrets. You can’t play the fireball game and Yoga Tower makes EVERYTHING Rose does whiff. I basically have to focus dash and just throw shit out there and hope for a knockdown.
Random question. Does anyone have a pack of Rose’s English sound effects? I found a Japanese one, but I think I need to make “soul fuck” my incoming text sound.
Is it me or my U1 gets cancels by a move more frequently in AE ? Today I clearly saw balrog’s jump and I activated U1…His j.HP touched me and it cancelled the whole U1 animation resulting in me wasting my ultra and him getting no damage but he flew across the screen as if he got hit…
it also happened to me vs a ken who cancelled my U1 with his tatsu and the same thing happened to him…he flew across the screen and he took a hit…
it seems weird…at a very specific angle…if you hit Rose’s head it looks like it stops your Ultra and they receive no damage even if they clearly are suppose to be hit by it (well they get hit since they fly across the screen but they get no damage…)
this is really getting on my nerves wasting a whole ultra like that…
Also on U1, Rose will get hit by anything that reaches her head, but doesn’t land on her scarf. Zangief’s j.hp iirc hits her at certain ranges. No idea about them flying across the screen, though. That’s odd.
Well, when you stand fullscreen against Sim he has to be careful if you have U1 in store. If you think he’s gonna throw out a fireball - dash in, and try to bait it. If he does, punish with U1. It’s extremely effective, and doesn’t even require that much timing since he has poor recovery on the fireball and it travels slowly. I’ve done this a thousands of times, and it really shuts down his zoning.
Dhalsim’s fireball travels slow and he has the slowest recovery in the game; you can ultra on reaction since our ultra isn’t really that slow.
I’ve been using U1 to stop U1s from Dhalsim out of corner throw techs; they can’t do it unless they want to eat the ultra. It’s definitely viable.
But if you want something different and more “easy” if you’re old and don’t have reactions anymore ;), reflect the fireball and U2. You’re in there and you’re fine.
There are two spaces where you want to fight against Dhalsim; right out of his st. fierce range or right in front of him rushing him down.
Hmmm. I’ll have to try it. I still don’t think any good Dhalsim would be that predictable with fireballs, especially if they’ve been hit with that before.
I have always known about our U1 beating Dhalsim’s U1 though. That’s the only thing I knew Rose has an edge over him on.
I would really appreciate all the anti-Dhalsim tech everyone has, though.
especially if you have U1; he does a fireball, he gets hit with U1, if he teleports, it’s easy to react with either a normal or a soul throw (depending on how good your reactions are), and there’s not much he can do to gain random meter.
I always, always, always get hit with his god damn teleport. Even if I’m mashing standing jab, I always seem to lose. Is there a specific normal that works well with that? I’m not sure if I can do soul throw on reaction just yet.
word to most: A good sim isn’t going to do fireballs at that range for you to just U1 them. Not when he’s got good pokes from that range. Just keep it in mind.
The Dhalsim would end up being stagnant while you try to keep yourself out of st. fierce range and you trying to throw out your own fireballs right out of st. fierce range.
The worst position you can be in that match up is in the corner right in st. fierce range; it’s more dangerous imo when he’s in st. fierce range and you’re in the corner rather than just you in the corner next to him. All he’ll do is a meaty yoga flame into follow up and you’re out RIGHT NEXT TO SIM.
You always want to either be out of st. fierce range or right next to Sim; those are ideal. You can jump on reaction his fireballs and he wouldn’t be able to do anything except take the block or walk back a bit; his fireballs are almost as bad as yours :].
And teleports are dealt with a normal at a good time; whether it be a crouch fierce, stand jab, or even soul throws and st. mks.
I personally love st. mk right out of st. fierce range.
Well, the whole point is that if Sim knows about the fact that you can punish his fireballs fullscreen and starts being defensive when it comes to fireballing, you are going to be in an advantage. Throw out your lp spark and walk up to close the distance.
And btw, you will be amazed at how late you can actually do U1 to punish his fireball. Oh and for the teleports, I always do close st.mp to knock him out if he teleports behind you. I prefer it over cr.hp.
Thanks a lot for the help, guys. This match is a nightmare for me. Maybe it’ll be somewhat bearable if I can get the U1 stuff down.
One more question, though: Is there ANYTHING Rose can do about Yoga Tower? I assume cr.hp, cl.hk, and maybe Soul Piede work but are those practical for punishing it in actual matches?
