Her general gameplan revolves around footsies, and outzoning your opponent. Her combos are very basic, unless you’re going for her 1-frame links, which require strict timing. To play well with her, you’ll need to be patient and capitalize off your opponent’s mistakes.
Aww man you guys I really miss training with Rose!
I got Sakura to Rank A now so I have to choose Rose or Bison to level up. I’m leaning back towards Rose since she is input character and not as broken as Bison.
I just started using rose on PSN on pad cuz I don’t have a stick for the ps3, stupid xbox
It’s true, footsies and zoning. Pretty strange that I only learned this during SSF’4 used her as a RTSD char in SF4. I still don’t like to zone, it’s not my kind of style, but that’s how she excels.
If I look at my games I kind of zone offensively; keeping close enough for poking strats while always being able to counter jumpins with C HP.
As far as combos go: I’d say she is difficult given that all her links (and thus hit-confirms) are 1-framers, and the BnB of simple cancels (normal to special) are easy, but every char has those.
It’s true however that she doesnt have long combos, so she never looks fancy. Best you can do is FADC something twice.
Never FADC anything twice.
You won’t get any more damage then the EASY hit-confirmable super that you will hit if you have >.>
You could play Rose however you want, she’s versatile.
Each match up is different
Thanks guys. In watching other Rose players I’ve figured out some stuff:
-lp Soul Spark for projectiles
-df mk slide and then throw, or bait throw and then punish
-cr. lk > cr. lp > Soul Spiral is a basic hit-confirm
-cr. fp as an AA
-cr. mp > Soul Spiral as a punish
-st. mk and hk are good pokes
Am I on the right track so far?
You are. For punish, you could also go for cr. hp -> SS, which deals a bit more damage, but only if you’re able to catch him with the fierce.
On another note, I HATE Balrog. That is all.
I just looked over the list of nerfs to Rose for AE. Pretty substantial if you ask me. I rely on her U2 as a “get out of jail free” card against certain characters. I also used Soul Spark > Super Spark trick last night to catch a player off-guard. Both will be missed.
what can you hate about Balrog?
He’s so basic and simple that the match up isn’t even too hard anymore.
The match-up is so frustrating that it isn’t even funny. You have a lot of Balrog experience, I do not.
Would be cooler to do mp reflect -> Super instead.
Just want to say congrats to PWS for placing top 32 at NEC XI. I saw the first round of you vs Jeron :bluu:. Who else did you lose to? I would have made top 32 also but I had double jeopardy vs Sanford. Second major in a row I missed top 32 because of double jeopardy . Good job and hopefully see you at Winter Brawl.
Congrats PWS! Always nice to see a Rose do well.
Speaking of majors, anyone hitting up WCW? I’ll probably be there.
Congrats to PWS! Where is WCW being held?
Out in Orange County. It’ll be my second major. Not expecting much though, I’m just going for the experience.
I hope I can make it out to WCW.
If not, come casuals with me lockdown :P.
I live like 30 mins away from Oc.
Yeah I got 17th, I made it out of pools in winners and then lost to LIJoe and then Jeron.
Sagat, I could have won that…I could move and do things. Vs Jeron’s Bison, lol…I couldn’t do like, anything. All of my options were unsafe guesses because he found a way to corner me every round it seemed like.
Eventhubs just put up this new Super and Ultra damage comparison chart, and Rose is dead last after all have been averaged. Her U2 isn’t strong in terms of damage, hence why.
Super and Ultra damage comparison for Super Street Fighter 4 : EventHubs.com
Sure, but it’s a comboable ultra where you can combo into and out of. Which is quite unique. Dhalsim and Chun don’t do much damage either just for that reason, they are supposed to add damage or just append the ultra to normal combos.
Her U1 is still a very strong one, of of the best. I was surprised to see that it equals the U1 of Blanka. Although he does have the benefit of chip on block which Rose U1 hasn’t
well U1 is so good because most of the time it’s being done as a raw ultra as opposed to most of the other ultras are comboed into.
and U2 was never about damage. Which has been stated many times already.
