So I was using Fight Request today in order to seek for opponents around my level, and I lost to AceUnlimited’s Guy 4 out of 5 games (his Guy is godly). I’m going to get some more games with him, and hopefully have a video or two of us playing a couple of sets.
hey guys, what are your favorite frame traps and counterhit setups with rose?
me?
cr. lk, cr. fierce
cr. mp, cr. mp
and my personal favorite
sc. mk cr. fierce ;]
favorite counter hit set ups;
heavy punch spiral (max range) cr mp
maybe cause he plays me? and i beat him 4 out of 5 games LOL
I played TheFury216’s Akuma on Ranked on my alt account last week sometime and after I asked if he knew you and he said he’s friends with you IRL. I told him to tell you your Rose is awesome and he said he won’t because he doesn’t want your ego getting any bigger than it already is.
You know him? Lol, your Rose is obviously better. I thought I was confident in this match-up (isn’t it 7-3 in Rose’s favor?), but I guess not. Those were fun games against you and frankie yesterday. Coincidentally, I played frankie right before I met both of you in the Endless lobby. The Fight Request feature is certainly useful I noticed.
hope it helps a little bit
You guys need to stop using fight request if you have offline scenes. Seriously, do it for your own good. It’s better to ask questions in person where you’ll get more detailed and lengthy responses in person rather ask for some matchup help from ppl from srk who most likely play mostly online (and because of this it’s impossible to train in the matchup properly) or start getting a ego based off online wins. Don’t fall into either of those traps.
We only have bi-weeklys here in philly, but other then that, the stuff i applied from matchup advice and gameplay tips from srk using rose online still applied offline. Idk maybe im just better at adjusting whether it be offline or online. Yes, there may be random scrubs online who do dumb shit, but there’s still people offline who do dumb shit as well.
I am starting to get involved offline (slowly, but surely…), and some of the things I’ve learned online have actually helped me offline. I did go to the Chinatown Arcade last week and got the opportunity to play top players, but I didn’t ask them questions nor said anything at all during those matches. I should have, but I’ll do it when I get another opportunity. It’s kind of hard for someone to enter offline scenes, especially if you have huge crowd nerves, or you’re just a random person that absolutely no one knows about. I don’t know, it just seems online is more of my preference right now.
Sksk: get your social game up everyone is new at some point but ppl are welcoming. If you show up consistently sooner or later ppl will know who you are.
Thefury: not saying online is totally useless but the progression is slower. I’ve played online offline in countless events in the us, and I’ve been to japan to play sf4 even…online is the slowest learning process of the three. That being said I play online for matchup exp at times but everytime I learn the matchup 10 times faster offline. Btw how do u place at those philly Bi weeklies? Chaos was mostly online warrior until he started traveling and got better for it.
Well, I don’t got an offline scene around here. Closest is in Philly, and it isn’t that close.
Don’t forget about training mode Sabin. It’s gotta be 2nd to Japan.
So I went to the Chinatown Arcade again, and did alright with Rose. I won a couple of games, and lost a couple. I’m still having a bit of difficulty with execution on a stick, so yes, I did focus attacks by accident yet again, and I even did ST a few times when I wanted to do Soul Spark. I’m seriously considering playing online a bit less, and just practicing in Training Mode. I need to know her frame traps, her FADC combos, work on general execution (Dropping Soul Spiral after c.MP), and a couple of other things. I’ll probably watch a couple of videos, and read quite a bit of guides, so hopefully it will all sink in. I want to go to a Guard Crush tournament and actually compete soon (If I do, I’m definitely using pad).
Note: For those who are tired of calling me by “sksksksksk222”, feel free to just type “sk”, or “Josh” instead.
playing it less? If I was near CTF, I honestly wouldn’t be playing online unless it was strictly friends or something.
I know that playing online can really mess up execution due to input lag, but I’m probably going to do more Endless Matches rather than Ranked. I noticed that I picked up a lot of bad habits through Ranked Matches. CTF is a hour walk from my house, and about a 15 minute ride via public transportation. I can’t really afford to go every day, so I’m just planning on going there at least 2 days a week. Most of my time I will probably be devoted to just training mode, although I do get bored of it after 30 minutes or so. I need to remain dedicated.
You have to understand that not all of us have cars and our parents have jobs.
That 30 minutes there and back in a car is hard sometimes.
So maybe we can make 2-3 a month, but we can’t make it everyday.
Therefore that’s what online is used for.
Hey I understand all too well. i’m not really in any bigger situation than he is. I’m just simply saying. I always hit up the arcade when I had some extra spare change, had free time, and had a way up there. I’m just use to arcade as casuals/training and vaguely reading stats and strats online until the game drops to home console.
as stated a bajillion times, online is fine but only goes so far.
yeah man forget ranked matches it only makes you upset. i play endless with locals sometimes and even then there is lag. i really don’t play much online anymore i play at cf and tournaments and its really a completely different experience. i’m trying to prepare my self for evo next year and playing locally with better players with will help me level up.
Well said.
Hey man, I know the casuals I will start hosting in Monrovia is about 40 minute drive for you, but just so you know, you are always welcome there if you ever get a chance to go man.
If you need a ride for Evo2K11, let me know. We usually drive together and you’re cool people, Anton.
