Isn’t SC5 going to be at Evo this year? I would think that would be a good enough reason to give SCV its own sub-forum.
But anyway, hit up on PSN (ClaTheNinja) if you want to fight a decent Viola. Also, for people who are trying to unlock everything as fast as possible, I’ve written a good guide on 8WayRun:
I think Grey Area is referring to using numbers as directions. AKA 236 = qcf. It’s really not that complicated. There are plenty of resources to help you learn, and plenty of people on 8WayRun who are nice if you still have questions. If you can’t understand fairly simple internet notation, you probably won’t be able to expertly play the game itself. How can you hope to do combos if you can’t even read them? But I promise it’s not as crazy as it sounds. It’ll only take a couple of minutes to learn.
For example, I was looking at Asteroth’s forum and people were mentioning BE and CE in the middle of combos with it not mentioned anywhere what those mean. I was wrong on the single letters statement. A,B, and K are how they are listed in the game. I was used to VF and Tekken where most guide’s just use numbers.
Ok, found the thread that shows what all of the notations mean. BTW, this was not me trying to knock the site. It was strange that so much knowledge was assumed in all of the threads. VFDC, TYM and Dustloop did not have that many acronyms so I was getting a bit frustrated.
Quick question, can someone tell me how to input the “during hit 4” ex. omega pyrrah’s arch predation. Been mashing buttons for a while now and cant even get it by mistake
Not the best explanation, but it’s the opposite of mashing: only a correctly-timed press will work. I don’t know which specific move you are referring to (I don’t use Pyrrah), but essentially, you have to learn the right time to press. Keep trying different timings until you find the right one, and then practice nailing it. At least, that’s how I learned Patrokolos’ two “just” moves.
for pyrrah there is the “just” version of the move and a version that is the same but no “just”. The move is “2b,a+b+k during hit 4” and “2b,a+b+k during hit 4(just)”. Also what is the advantage of one version of the move vs the other?
I used to play SCIV a bunch, but I never put much effort into playing it seriously. Still kinda learning how to really play this game, but I’d like to go a few rounds.
It won’t teach you the “just” timing, but if you go into training mode and hit 4 as the bubble that states the attack height appears, you should get at least the non-just version every time. Just do it enough to get it into muscle memory, so you can do it without the bubble.
You can also press on a move and have the computer demonstrate it for you. That way, you can see the difference visually and know when you nail the “just” version.
Old school SC2 player, those from CF in the '02-'04 era would know me. Also back into the series now. Looking to get some in person sessions going at Next Level along with some solid online play, feel free to add. YamaMX
Much better than he was made out to be week one, very solid. Happy to see the Asta mains stuck with him, he did a lot of work over at Winter Brawl '12.
What’s going on SCV players…this is Z.A.P from Indianapolis, IN. I recently hosted a SCV Ranbat at my weekly fighting game gathering…I haven’t played a SC seriously since SCII but I think that this is a really good edition to the series. This ranbat contains some really good matches, the edit is complete and will be uploaded to my YouTube this evening…Link is in my Sig!
I hope to post more SCV footage from local Indy players in the future…I hope this game doesn’t get overlooked now that SFXT has dropped. If you enjoy the vids subscribe if not…blow me up.
