The only one that’s really, really memorable to me in SC2 is UiFdjmDDJcQ"]Brave Sword, Braver Soul and I like Hubris too. To me SC1 has more overall that’s memorable, like “The New Legend”, “Chasing Downstream”. My favorite is "" by far.
The actual soundtrack for SC1 is available for SC4. That’s the music that I use in game. No it’s not 3 dollars a song, and it’s not the remixes from SC3 which I didn’t like. The rest of the music in SC3 I did like though, but the best was Soul Blade/SC1. Eye to Eye, Blade to Blade is my favorite, but all the music in that game is hot.
I would really like to see all of the music from all the games and put them in this new game so I could pick and choose what to listen to. Soul Blade/Soul Calibur has so much good music.
The other thing is that the community for Soul Calibur was missing that direct communication and support from Namco. It was missing for SC3 and SC4, and now we have it again now that they’ve hired FilthieRich as the new community manager. That’s what has me excited.
Plus you also have Daishi using Twitter, so steps are being made to communicate with the fans.
I’m also a part of the official Soul Calibur page that was also created by Namco. Check that joint if you haven’t seen me spamming it with Calibur stuff yet.
But I’m excited about this new project. I can’t wait to see what happens and glad that I was able to play some role by starting the Facebook petition and continue this fighting game resurgence.
too much sand on your vagina?
one thing is “voicing” what you dislike about the game
another is being a idiot full of shit that believes that his opinion is fact, there are people who have enjoyed the game, the game is not garbage, in fact fundamentally there is nothing wrong with it, agree that it could be better but saying that is garbage is just idiotic, NOW YOU STFU!, if you are not going to add nothing useful to the thread then keep quiet shit head
Oh Hetacom I didnt know you were such a little girl.
If what I said was so “opinionated” then how come everyone that played Soul Calibur PRE-Soull Calibur 3 agrees with just about everything I said?
The entire system is a mockery of itself in SCIV and eventually the scene for it just died out. It was never th emost technical fighter on the market, so what better way to kill the competitive community than to simplify the mechanics on top of having a bugged out system? If I was so alone in my opinion it would be a community for the game and it isnt.
You’re getting too caught up on what I think of the game. How about you tell me why the community doesnt exist anymore then.
You tell me why what was left of the Soul Calibur team is now working on the Tekken series. lol. Since myself, digimon and TR clearly dont have a leg to stand on. I mean I’ve only been playing Soul Calibur 10 years. I have some nerve telling the new Soul Calibur 4 players about why this game sucks. I have absolutely no right.
The only difference between this and SFIV is that SF actually has a community didnt crumble when someone came along and said something everyone else didnt like. Theres a split between 2 3 and 4. And everyone plays 4 just because its new, Ive heard a lot of people say theyre just playing it because its the newest in the series, PLENTY of people arent happy with what SFIV is but people KNOW about it and they ACCEPT the faults that SFIV is.
Where as the Calibur community on the other hand has a nervous breakdown around the qualifiers for Nationals because someone asks should Hilde be banned. lol. People get fed up with that shit. Mind you, the community is DEAD and gone, and there are still some people from the SCIV days who still want to argue tooth and nail that it was a good game and that people “didnt understand it” and all other kinds of bullshit when all you have to say is “yeah the game sucks but I like it” and we wouldnt even be having this discussion.
INSTEAD youre still arguing. Youre in here arguing with one of the people who single handedly kept the Soul Calibur 3 tournament scene alive here in the US running regionals and nationals out the ass, when someone like that says Soul Calibur 4 could have been much more than what it was and youre still in here trying to fight back with an argument that doesnt hold water through a butterfly’s net then you look stupid.
That post was nothing but BS from a guy who thinks online is a decent measure of skill and who to my knowledge has never showed up to a tournament because in his words “no scene exists anyway so what’s the point?”
Um… Okay.
I’m not even trying to compare the competitive scenes between SC2 and SC4. We all know the competitive scene for SC was at it’s peak during SC2. I’m just addressing the moron’s claim that “no scene exists.” Not even sure why you bring up arcade since Namco never gave SC4 a chance in arcades. And still asian players showed up out of pure love for the game. People still play this game. Just because some moron refuses to acknowledge it doesn’t make it not true.
I don’t know why you bring up DTN either. He always had a pocket Yoshi and him switching to Yoshi is not that big a surprise. If your point is that Nightmare sucks so much DTN moved away from him, Keev plays Nightmare and practically dominates the French scene.
I dunno man. Apparently you think the PAL version of SC3 is the best version of SC or something. Which was… slightly less broken than the initial American release? If I recall there were like 2 or 3 tweaks and that was it. The Japanese version was the least broken of the console SC3 games and even that was mostly a broken pile of shit.
Yeah you keep believing that. I’m not the one who refuses to acknowledge facts. (And apparently made shit up about playing people on PSN? Lol.)
im actually quite happy with the amount of fighting games I have, and a lot of people don’t even want another soul calibur
so im gonna step out of the box and say they should fully refone the C-A-S, it was awkward in IV but I think if they mastered a system and kept it stable with patches then something amazing could happen :wonder:
don’t attack me, Im speaking about SCV and im looking at it as a possibility as a speedy version of yu-gi-oh/card games. I don’t know how much they spend on making games but if they’re spending loads just so you can change a few hitboxes and the background then fuck you
If 3 and 4 are any indication then V is gonna suck. V will probably have even fewer moves and 0 stances, they’ll take out GI’es in favor of DoA style reversals. They’ll prolly take RO’es too and add actual fatalaties at the end of the match. Ivy’s tits will take up half the screen. Then the peeps who still play IV for some reason will sit around bashing V while peeps who like V try to justify their favortism of the game as the haters not being able to “understand” the game. SC1 and 2 players will hang their heads in shame and boot their DC/GC up again for another round of good SC.
Yeah, I’m sure you beasted many of your friends with your ‘godly’ Link. God, you people are horrible. But, if anything, thanks for waking me reminding me why forums are horrible.
Either way, whether you play and/or enjoy the game, hope you all accomplish whatever it is you set out to do. Later.
I dont know what your talking about but it seems like you’re doing a 2005 rant which made perfect sense when there was no hope of a new fighting game coming out, you know that time when we realized we had ran the developers into creative suicide
I hope there’s a point to the success of fighting games, cos it all seems like a pyramid scam now
It is hard to resist at least some kind of hype. Keep your hopes low cuz SC3 was fool us once, shame on Namco. SC4 was fool us twice shame on us. Dunno what it will be if SC5 isn’t some kind of T5 style series resurrection.
A T5-style resurrection is one way of going about it. Of course, I would be even happier if Odashima, now that he’s in charge, just decided to give the everything an SC1-style overhaul/reboot.
When Soul Edge evolved into Soulcalibur, the name change signified how the series was going in a decidedly different direction, and represented the dawn of things like 8 way run, which changed the game for the better. I’m thinking the best way for the Soul series to do something similar, is for Odashima to follow in Hiroaki Yotoriyama (SC1 producer)'s footsteps. Yotoriyama was quoted on saying that because their team worked closely with the Tekken team of the time, they were able to produce “the greatest weapons-based fighting game in the world”, through Soulcalibur. I’d like to think that Odashima and Harada working together might be a good sign of such a dynamic possibly returning. I wouldn’t mind a name change either, for that matter…
Yep ur right, lets start running SC2 tournaments. Great idea. Unfortunately we live in this horribad era where if it isn’t on 360 or PS3 it doesn’t matter. If it’s not embedded with shitty online play…it doesn’t matter. And if the game isn’t dumbed down to the point where you’d rather sing songs from “Lamb-chops play along”…
it doesn’t matter.
i must misread his post, i gathered that he was speaking as if the french started seriously coming to the states during sc4. when that’s been happening since SC1.
no, i don’t know that. you’re gonna have to show me.
disagree.
how can the removal of feints, soul charge cancels, and having useful guard breaks, AND LOWERING THE SPEED OF THE GAME…polish anything?
feints/soul charge cancels - gives you so many options for pressure and mixing your opponent up. constantly moving and staying in motion making matches more exciting to watch and to play (most important).
good guard break - forces opponents to react/guess right. and if you’re successful on guard break you get rewarded…can’t say the same for you know what.
Not sure how that’s not as important in SC2, especially when your opponent has more mobility options.
I said SC2 wasn’t free for Damien, BECAUSE SC2 is harder to play. his opponents had way more options. more options doesn’t mean more gimmicks right? or are we (you guys) going to accept that SC4 was more watered down (SSF4 effect)?
 LMFAO!!! This is not the tekken series friend. Well that’s the sterotype for tekken anyways.
But what I’m saying is that each sequel to SC changed the system drastically. I don’t understand why people don’t see this. Difference is night and day.
facepalm…
Bingo…
[insert a whole bunch of swear words n name calling with a lil bit of singing “move bitch get out the way” - luda]
I’m not gonna get banned in dealing with you. I’ll just politely call you an idiot and move on…
Uhmmm no the Japanese version is the EXACT same as Euro with Japanese text. And those changes were pretty crucial to the two characters devs INTENTIONALLY made redic. Other characters did receive move property/input changes too though. VC is still in the game. Ban it, becomes NOT a problem. All good.
Anyways my previous post stands. I think I’ll just leave this thread alone…well maybe. You guys go ahead and spout how gdly SC4 is. Sure I hate the game… in its entirety…but I still play it casually (offline/online…no complete scrub here FYI) just to keep up with the series. SC2 is 1,000,000 times better. To most it’s hella fact, but ultimately it’s my opinion. And I never said different. -_-
And I personally would like to see more tournaments for SC2. Maybe that’s asking for too much…
That’s true, but at the same time SC1 is like a “refinement” of Soul Edge rather than a completely new direction. You can also see how many characters are so very, very similar in the transition between games and so is the aesthetics and style. I could honestly play Edge over 2,3, or 4…although after playing 1 I can’t shake how it now seems like an “incomplete” version of that game.
As funny as this post as is, I can’t help but agree with it…I honestly feel there’s some truth in it.
True. I guess in the end, what I really could stand to see is, after so many years/games’ worth of seeing how they haven’t really pushed the game play that much beyond what SC1 did (or at least, not in what I would believe to be a poignant matter), now would be a good a time as any for Odashima, Harada and crew to re-evaluate things.
That’s why, at least for now, I want to give Odashima the benefit of my well-wishes. Now that he’s “the guy”, a former SC1 tourney player that worked his way through the Project Soul ranks to be the director of this current game, if any body stands to be the one who could save the Soul series from the path it’s on currently, it’s him. I wonder if he has any former SC1 friends who might be hitting him with suggestions too, no less.
can’t anyone see your making the developers bored with the crap you want them to add, I have a feeling they’d prefer to wait till next gen so they can put more unique depth into the game (hopefully) the additions you’re all asking for is incredibly dull. it’s like asking a singer to sing the same song but longer, with slower rifts in certain parts and faster beats in others.
im gonna try and stay out of here actually, it’s a madmans room
Ive voiced my opinion on the SC series here @ SRK numerous time and it still hasnt changed. SC2 was good, a bit slow, loved SC3 to death, but it was broke as fuck. Asta, X and Sophie run that game.
Well since SCVs announcement, i had a discussion with my friend Agustin about it. We would just like this…
SC3’s console gameplay speed
SC2’s system (step {minus avoid}, GC’s actually usable)
For anyone who started with SC3/4, avoid in SC2 was some retarded property that would kick in randomly during step which allowed you go through moves that shouldnt be stepped. For example, although it was random, Nori with Cervantes, could step right through Xianghuas 22B. Consistently. Youd see Cervantes ducking his head… Right through it…
Now, we did have a different opinion concerning step-G and G2. (NOT SC3’s G22) I say keep G2 since i think it adds to the GI game, and lose step-G. If you guess wrong on a horizontal, you should get hit, not cancel step and guard. His were the opposite.
But thats the gist of it. Whether itll happen, well just have to wait and see…
Now that i think about it, whatever happened to zig?
