They’re not going to make a Soul Edge 3 because there isnt a “Soul Edge 2” plus the Soul Edge has been a part of the series from the beginning. The Soul Calibur was the divine intervention that came about to destroy Soul Edge. The series has to remain Soul Calibur, it would just confuse people and make no sense if they did otherwise.

The series has literally revolved around the Soul Edge since the series was created. But its starting to suck now.

A stroke of brilliance was the point where Siegfried became the new owner of Soul Edge and turned into Nightmare, and then freed himself from the bond and Soul Edge took control of the armor and functioned as a physical entity. Why Nightmare in SCV is actually a person, a person who up until SCV as just a placeholder was remarkably stupid. Theres so much that has gone wrong between 3 and 5 that it is just unreal.

If SC6 or SC Tag or whatever they end up coming up with wants any hope of being respected and winning back all the displaced SC fans they have to start with Calibur 2 and work their way back up.
-bring back soul charge levels & unblockable/guard crush. This is where the oki and mindgames from SC2 came from with characters who had limited tools.
-Bring back while jumping/while landing. Needs no explination.
-Un-shorten movelists. Characters like Mitsurugi and Voldo were gimped. Entire movelists were removed. Misturugi in SC4 was a stance change monster as were lots of character and they simplified the system down to shortening the movelists which ended up being an epic failure all in the name of mainstreaming fighting game for a casual community that didnt even give a shit.
-Remove comeback mechanics
-Overclock the speed at least 30% SC 1 2 & 3 had great pace, by 4 it was tanky, movement was clunky. Movement in SC5 was improved but the pace was still pretty slow.
-SC2 Talim
-Zasalamel
-Setsuka
-Hwang
-Get rid of Alpha/Omega characters
-Fuck guest characters. Always banned, always lame tier, never fit in the SC universe.
-Develop the new SC5 characters into their own movesets instead of being watered down clones of Xianghua, Sophitia, Cassandra, Kilik, Taki, Setsuka. Same way Tekken Tag 1 started branching out the “clone” characters so by the time Tekken 5 was out you actually had multiple characters with similar fighting styles with completely different movelists.

They wont do any of this of course. I need Team Tekken vets to come over and help the new SC devs because they arent quite bringing out the best in the series.

The comeback mechanics are so small in SCV outside of getting meter on your last round they’re not a big deal.

Mitsu was still a great character with the shortened movelist. Very few characters ere actually seriously hurt by shortening the movelist outside of Raph and Voldo, everyone else was fine because they kept their important moves and fluff was cut.

While Jumping/Whilte landing moves still exist, just the few moves that are in actually have a reason to exist.

Gues characters are fine. Vader and Starkiller had interesting movesets and were solid, Exio’s pretty legit and fits the universe well and the only gues characters banned were the PS2 console exclusives. But hey you probably never actually played SC seriously by the things your saying.

The only other thing you said that makes snese, would be nice to see the new people developed a bit more to be like Natsu and Patroklos. At this point I don’t wanana see the old characters brought back just to piss off people like you.

And the pace for SC5 wasn’t even that much slower than 2. And you did not just say SC3 had good pace, that game was shit for a ton reason movement ebing one of them due to VC adna variant of Step 2G.

  1. Comebcack mechanics need to be gone. Period. ie: guard crush meant characters who had a difficult time crushing guard get trampled while other characters work much harder for less effort. Characters who werent in-your-face and benefited more from capitalizing off mistakes and good turtling got beat out flat. It didnt even make sense. Ralphael could crush guard easier than Zasalamel. But whatever thats your opinion. I’m saying you are most definitely wrong, guard crush forced you to play rushdown, Rock cant rush down Cassandra, but you cant hang back and be a turtle until you get an opening because she can shatter your guard and insta-kill you. That was very much a concern to the community before SCV came and all those casual players started flapping their gums.

  2. I never said that Mitsurigi wasnt a good character, pay attention. Shortening a characters moveset was the issue. Taking away all 3 stances from a stance-based character to mainstream a game just takes away from the process that that character went to to develop into a deep playstyle. They took away stances from EVERYONE. Especially Voldo. When you take away low pokes and entire stances the character just becomes lost and homogenized. I dont know who would want that. Some of the best moves were taken away that was just plain stupid.

  3. Again guest characters are unnecessary and Namco has for years been using this as a marketing ploy to hype up the game and bring in a new community, it hasnt worked yet. Up until SCV the characters were banned at tourneys and regardless of it they were good or not, Darth Vader didnt fit in the 16th century.

They turned these characters into RANDOM SELECT SKINS

WHY? Random select skins. Because they didnt have enough time to finish the game or put real thought into the design process, either way it doesnt matter.

The problem is alot of people who should know better love to hump large movesets and look to them as a mark of “legitimacy.”

Hey stupid BTW Mitsu had only one stance taken away, Relic, the one that was pretty much useless. And all your guard crush problems are with IV, GC in V isn’t a comeback mechanic at all. And yes some characters guard crush better than others and their is nothing wrong with that.

And the only banned guest characters were the PS2 ones because thye were exclusive to specific consoles and that ban may be lifted seeing how everyone will be able to play Spawn and Heihachi, Vader and Yoda were banned till they were available on both systems, and Ezio was never banned. Stop making yourself look stupid. And who gives a fuck if they don’t fit, they’re gues characters, they’re their for fun. You’d be surprised at how many casual players loved the Star Wars characters because they were fun and different.

SC2 had shake-able stun, instant floor tech (not some just frame crap that punished you for getting up) and okizeme didnt consist of dying while you were still on the ground for MASSIVE damage otgs. Several character can ring out downled opponents, its stupid. Its unnecessary.

The problem with SC3 wasnt that movement was slow it was the step G glitch that let you move and guard instantly and cancel through certain animations making characters like Mitsu OP in certain situations. Its like you’re arguing about a game you are familiar with. I know all about SC it was my main game for over 13 years.
