Soul Calibur IV - TGS 07 trailer

SC to me is like (you might hate me here) an advance version of the n64 zelda games. i see something bigger happening with the system. iv mentioned the last scene in the unlockable last vid in SC3. to me thats closer to a REAL 3D fighting game

its an evolution that couldnt be seen with the limitations of the old gen consoles.

people seem really lazy and too traditional and reserved, i want my evolved fighting game NOW ffs :annoy:

I could get into this but it would all just go back to being related to Sophie. Besides you’re better off going to the SC board and asking in the soul areas. Asking SRK for 3D help is like pulling teeth.

Here’s me playing in a recent tourney. I’m using Kilik.

Take it from me man, in 2 he had “some” chains that were worth using. He’d always get owned by a quicker Taki or Kilik reach. By the time 3 came out, I saw an improvement in his speed (something I thought hurted his combo’s in 2) but there were far superior characters to pick this time around.

Well Maxi in 3 IMO is better than SC2 Maxi. Sure in 2 he had a good long range punish, but his lows werent too abuse-able. Now in 3 he has lows that give advantage on hit, loops that give good mixups and pretty decent step killing.

^That’s why I’m hoping Maxi gets tops

Adding on to Yung in 2, everyone I played said he was garbage. If you are going to carry a small weapon, most of your combos better be fast and effective. He only had some, and that got him into trouble.

His speed in 3 was WAY better than 2. That’s what made him mid, and he’d beast Talim or Tira types.

Its possible that Maxi could be top tier in 4 but thats only if they make his loops more cancelable. Yun… I dunno. They’d have to change his entrie move list or just make his frames better.

Neo - I wouldnt say the most practical VC. Mitsu had the most effective. Top 3 because of his VC? Nah. My friend Nacho invented it (not the VC, but repeated VC aka Nacho VC) and showed it off at the Texas Regional. Whats funny is, that we knew there was a way around it and till this day, no one in the SC community ever figured it out. Everyone believed “block then die” lol. Oh and trust me, Asta is definately top 3.

Makoto_Scrub - Im on the SC forums. I was asking to see if anyone would take the bait because i know Cass will never be top.

I hated what they did to Ivy in SC3.

I loved her so much in SC1 and SC2, she played and flowed without as many seems as in SC3.

Ivy went from one of my favorite character and turned into another character that don’t select anymore on the character select screen and I don’t.

I hope she returns to SC2 style Ivy and scrap that forced seperated move stances they cacked on her

Um…sorry for the noobish question, but I only played single-player SC2 & 3 (not much of a scene where I come from) and don’t know what a VC is. Also, where does Siegfried stand in SC 3’s tier list and why?

VCs were in SC3, and was a glitch that allowed you to cancel out of the motion of an attack, while continuing the attack. This allowed you to not only cancel out of attacks, to make big, crazy combos, but it allowed you to cancel out of throws to do 100% damage, allowed you to cancel out of impacts so you could instantly get on your opponent once you pushed them back/aside, allowed you to cancel out of hit stun so you could pretty much do a KOFMI2 Armor Ralf thing with everyone, and you could even recover mid-air, all GG-style.

I think SC3’s Siegfried is low-mid or mid. He’s got muscle, but he’s slow, and not enough muscle to lift him up to Astarothish levels…or something. I don’t really know.

Siegfried was never low, he had some chains that took like half a bar. He’s a lot quicker than Nightmare and almost matches his strength, but not quite. His reach must be respected of course, but the sword is a lot more powerful than the cane/stick. A great Siegfried player can ring-out you almost everytime…

Therefore, Mid/Top. Probably Top in good hands.

Cept he’s unsafe as hell for EVERYTHING.

In AE he’s decent (cause just about everyone is) but on console, compared to the top characters who can do way more way safer, he’s not that great.

I agree that he constantly leaves openings for damage, but that’s every character who carries extremely huge weapons naturally. Weapon weight always determined on how fast characters would move and react, and some of the tops carry like smaller versions of swords/daggers/whatever.

No, Astaroth has a huge weapon and he’s WAAAAAY safer. He can get higher damage from much safer things, hence why Asta is so much better.

Thanks for the explanation, man! Wow…Now I get why people hated on SC3…that sounds horrible.

That’s why I said Siegfried was mid/top. I’m just pointing out that he was never low (low/mid)

Asta leaves even more openings than Siegfried, but people don’t want to be smacked by him because of the damage. They tend to “play it safe”.

Cept sieg is closer to Low/Mid than Mid/High. He’s too unsafe and too slow and doesnt do nearly enough damage compared to other characters who are way safer, way faster, and do way more damage (Sophie, X, Mitsu)

And Asta leaves less openings because he’s way safer. 4** is POSITIVE on block, hits grounded. 4A is safe, long range, bullrush is super safe and tech crouches, 66B is really good, and of course theres the 214A aka PT. Lotta damage, safe, hits 360. 4B is super fast and on CH if they tech, free crouch throw.

And im not even getting into his throw break VCs and whatnot which is what puts him with X, Sophie, and Mitsu…sieg doesnt have any of those things that makes him stand out a LOT.

sorry but frame data really doesn’t support that claim. As HeartNana said, Asta is way way safer than Sieg. Sieg is just too slow and unsafe. Any character that’s good at punishing (especially the sisters) own him for free. Sieg is definitely low/mid. Asta is easily top 5.

Now Lizardman… (sorry, but being one of three or four people that mained as him, I had to toss him out there :lovin:)

but seriously, I would love for Sieg to be vastly improved for the next game. Story-wise, he was a fascinating character. Too bad he wasn’t great in the actual game.

Well, I took down some pretty good fighters with Siegfried - so maybe my competition just sucked. :7)

Sieg needs his playing style reworked if he’s to improve his standings in the sc roster. 2G in sc2 changed NM’s play style somewhat and he remained fairly strong for a while, but Sieg as intended is fairly weak in the sc system.
