Soul Calibur IV Bad Games/Vent Thread

There are a lot of posts in the SCIV topic about scrubs, lag and the like. Let’s move that stuff out of the topic and keep it in one place. Let’s keep the SCIV topic as information about the game and not scrubs that plague the online play.

Venting!

What’s up with the people who beat you in ONE match and then leave? Even when it’s not completely one sided, it’s like they think they’d GGPO you 3-0 no matter what. I’m really trying to get match experience against kilik, because he’s a popular character and all, and every kilik that has either beat me or come close has left after one match. Okay, sometimes I’ll block everything wrong, or try to GI too much stuff (GI online = lolz) so it looks like I’m just getting hit, but I usually manage to take 1 round so its not like im incapable of winning at all. If you 3-0 me a few times then yeah you’re clearly above my level and I’ll stop wasting your time. I play player matches only too, so it’s not like there’s a win/loss record at stake.

Also, I hate it when people with an obviously laggy connection (you know those times where its choppy as fuck and you cant do anything without noticeable delay and you wonder…how the fuck did this rate 4 bars?) keep challenging me over and over. Win or lose, it doesn’t matter. Look guy, I can’t even crouch without it happening 3 seconds later; I’m not about to play guess-a-combo against whatever string you decided to mash out. How
is this even fun for you?

I was playing this one guy who wasn’t really bad, but he just didn’t really know what to do against Cass so I picked his character, Raph, to see what he was going through and my Asta CAS because it’s Taki with a giant hammer. After beating him a few times he left and sent me a message “mash less plz thx”. WTF. Raph I can understand (but come on, you’re picking him too…can’t complain about matchups in a mirror match), but how can I mash with the SLOWEST character in the game against a char who can punish everything I do with one button?

One guy owned me in 2 rounds with talim until I realized he was just mashing, I figured this out when I got a knockdown and took away the rest of his lifebar with Astaroth’s 4B (mid hitting ground stomp) over and over. I end up winning 3-2. It’s like Astaroth has an infinite, except NOTRLY.

I think playing scrubs is making me worse. Seriously, I’m winning with some anti CPU shit. In fighting games I usually have the attitude of “if it works, do it until it stops working” but I think that works against me here. I’m not actually good at the game and I don’t want to pick up bad habits while I’m still young and impressionable

^^^

Kinda played somebody like that before, except the fucker kept booting other people out the room just to play me, when he finally beat me after like 8 matches, he didn’t want to play anymore

Gotta couple of haters. Remember 1 guy’s name. Omnipotent 001. Final Round we both have about 30% health remaining, he has Astaroth, I I have Siegfried. We are fighting near the edge, and he must have guarded for too long or something. I then did Siegfried’s low grab(The one that throws people backwards), and ringed him out

He then proceeds to calling me all kinds of bitches and whatnot. Pretty damn funny, and yet scrubby at the same time. x_X/Eckzy is my witness for that one. Dude was maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

Also played some scrub from Europe, so of course the match was 3 bar. Kept sweeping him 1,2,3 then he started with the insults, and all was well until he called me a n00b. I’ve been playing this shit since Soul Blade/Edge, and 1, 2, and 3 after that. I think I know what the fuck I’m doing.

Also agree on playing scrubs making me worse. I spam the same tactics pretty much over and over, since scrubs rarely block well at all. When I do get a guy that at least pretends that he knows what he is doing, it takes me a minute to adjust from scrub assassin mode, to playing seriously.

SC4 online is like trying to run a footrace through 2 feet of snow. Don’t get too bent out of shape over it lol

If you want to learn how to fight Kilik, I’d be more than happy to oblige you. He’s my main.

Awesome, I need some good players to beat my ass so I can get better at the game. Hope we can get minimal lag.

GT is DominoLogic, if I’m on and you’re on we can THROW DOWN

Why I’ll quit after one match

  1. Lag
  2. The person is so bad that there’s no point. Sometimes it is obvious. Like you see that they know just 2-3 moves, or that if their gimmick fails they’ve got nothing. It’s like VF LP spammers, or Lau PPPK spammers, or Wolf DM grab spammers.
  3. I really f’n hate Star Wars.

If either of those two happens, I"m not having fun, and there’s no point for me. I’m not going to waste my time for someone else’s benefit.

Yah lag and Star Wars  go without saying. Of course, if youre not having fun for whatever reason then you shouldnt stay.

It’s just strange to me that given that the chances of getting a BAD match can be pretty high, someone would turn down a potentially good match in order to search the wild scrubby world of XBL for something better.

In other news, I played someone who wanted to just “run around” for 3000 or so meters so he could get an achievement.

not all connectionare bad…jsu depend who yah play…i do know in rank there a higher chance of getting more lag cause there doing it on purpose when ther about to loose…they turn the game into matrix and end up thorwing me like 3 times :wonder:<<wtf scrubs…

I’m pretty sensitive to just 1 or 2 frames of difference, so yes, to me, the lag is bad. :frowning:

bad games to XxGaMe FAC3xX and his scubby ass tira. Kept calling me shit and told me to play a “real” game like Halo. Told me he gets "paid. Don’t play his garbage ass.

o and a kinda bad games to fur burglerz (why do shitty players all have fucked up spelling for their names?) talked mad shit about me but he shutup after i whooped his garbage mitsu.

Next time you’re angry and think someone peeled out cause they think they’re the man, relax. Most people leave after 1 win because you were a challenge and they’re afraid they’re going to lose to you.

But SCIV online is pretty random. Completely different experience than playing intelligent people or the adv cpu. Kinda like whoever can come up with the worst strategy (ie. 75% of matches I’ve been in are Kilik’s camp poking or Cervantes flare spamming)

Big bad games to ENVY 760 he has a shitty connection talked shit and when i kicked his ass proceeded to boot me. THen i rejoin his game he has the nerv to boot everyone else to play me then when i kick his ass again talks mroe shit but this time i bite back and leave b/f he has a chance to boot me. Don’t give this scrub the time of day.

god damn sc4 has so much haters online wtf.

lol i beat the crap out of someguy online today, nothing new except for the fact that we had 5 bars and he preceeded to call me a laggy fuck, he was using mitsurugi like he’s playing soul calibur 1, he could block well but his knowledge of the system was rediculously low, i out classed him with 5 different characters even his own (mitsu) and left, he calls me back and still gets pummeled repeatedly kicking everyone out, then i left again and he sends me messages saying how i suck  i tell him how he needs to improve (politely) but he still carries on crying so i go back in and kind of half play and let him win, i leave then he starts saying how crap i am (at this point im just laughing) but i tell him that when playing offline small frames of movements are things you need to be aware of, i fucked the guys head up in so many ways ONLINE and i try and explain how it is but he just replies with “now i know you deffinetly suck haha!”

Every online game has to have this thread.

I haven’t been able to beat any competent sophitia users…my gosh she’s just too strong

I am starting to love this game. BTW, the top people (Iguana is one of them) on special versus are bogus; They have no skills, but network knowledge to work the system and get points without penalties.

Yeah, well, you get kind of tired of reading it in the topic all the time.

so how is that relevant to bad games…?
