Soul Calibur 5 Official Discussion

she broke sc4… and is still getting backlash for it. I actually love the character.

That makes absolute sense.

Im not entirely sure but I think this had something to do with it. Plus apparently she was really good and got banned.

pretty much, picture that but getting hit anywhere on the map lead to a instant K.O. If the stage had wall it wasn’t as bad but she still got crazy damage from wall bounce.

If i recall correctly it wasn’t that bad against stick hilde players because they couldn’t break throws, however pad players could hold charges with binds and still break throws. And i think stick players started to follow suite.

I remember those days. Hilde could juggle you from mid stage. On stages larger then that one to a ring out. There was nothing you could do about it. Once they landed the lead attack in there combo. This is not to say there where no legitimate Hilde players. The problem was regarding those who played in this manner.

If you ask some people they go as far as to say. She destroyed SCIV and nearly destroyed the SC series. I personally would not go that far but. Words such as that do reflect. How much many hated her.

People will continue to hate Hilde. Until it is confirmed beyond question. That she can no longer do anything like that anymore.

The SC devs even stated that they regret that they didn’t do anything about the Hilde thing. By the time people discovered her broken shit, project soul was already disbanded.

They’ve stated they won’t make the same mistake this time around, fortunately.

Character select theme and Ezio’s theme for those who are interested:

Just finished the main story of ACRevelations the other night (and Embers). Goddamn I’m gonna miss Ezio. Thanks to
Namco for giving me some more time with the legend.

Why is the throw break and get a little damage still around? :shake:

Probably because the developers think it’s important to discourage turtling.

What’s up with the recent article complaining about character creation?

“Fighting styles are always existing styles of other characters”

Wtf lol

Weren’t the extra styles in in SC3 still associated with a character? Like everyone calls tambourine style CaS “a Lynette” just like if you chose any other style? I’m sorry if think your monkey king power pole character is so original, but to everyone else it’s still just a re-skin of Hualin.

Yea that was a pretty scrubby article. People on 8wayrun were ripshit about that, cant say i blame them, but thier salt got a little out of hand in the beginning.

http://8wayrun.com/threads/sc5-article-on-srk-aka-i-guess-they-let-anyone-post-things-on-srk-now.9037/

EDIT: I see you are already aware of 8wayrun’s disapproval of this article.

Dayumn, that combo is hype as fuck.

Even when I saw the title of that article before we ran it on the front page, I had a feeling that it was going to be trouble.

However, we ran it anyway. As keits once told me “We are trying to bring all fighting gamers together, no matter their level of talent or level of interest in competition, to one place.” So while the CAS styles are something the hardcore tournament folks don’t really care about (and frankly, I don’t like the idea of unique CaS styles either) someone obviously does and that someone might have an opinion that other like-minded folk might like to read.

Ahahaha

Isn’t that the guard burst’s job?

Since in Soul Calibur you have to 1) Get close enough to Throw (no jump ins in this game) and 2) Make sure they don’t duck the throw.

Its seems Namdai wants to reward people for landing the throw. And it makes it more of a mixup when you’re lowon health. It really only does a sliver of damage, so its not really going to change anything. Also, late breaks cause a hard Knockdown now as well. I think Namco is trying to keep things fresh and interesting.

As I’ve said before, Soul Cal has taken the biggest risks out of any fighter i Know, ever.

THAT’s what Viola’s english voice sounds like? I am disappoint.

Can someone help me out here. cause ive been watching a few matches and the game, while VERY VERY pretty still seems absolutely SLOW. like MOLASSES slow. Maybe i need to watch some SC2 matches to get a better read but it still feels like for however fluid the animation looks its still looks like its in slow motion compared to SC2. Which i DO NOT like. like i said, ill watch some old match vids of 2 to make sure it aint the nostalgia talking.

EDIT: upon further investigation, the speed seems ok. must be some characters just dont combo very well or something.

Is there much of a point in playing previous games in preparation for SC5? I’ve never really touched the series before that, and I’m not sure how different SC4 or SC2 are, or if netplay is still a valid option for SC4 at this point… Thanks

If you’re just looking to play SC5 casually, then I would just wait for the game to come out in January at this point. If you are looking to compete in tournaments for SC5, then I would start learning SC4 in preparation for SC5 so that you can hit the ground running when SC5 drops, instead of having to learn SC5 completely from scratch.
