“What the hell?” at Astaroth’s new look. Not that I’m saying it’s bad, but…I didn’t really know how Namco could go from SC4’s model which was basically Astaroth’s body turned inside out. Now he looks…I don’t even know. I need a better look at it before I draw comparisons.
I’m going to guess that this is a whole new Astaroth. The one in SC4 died(big surprise) and hence, we have the new green Astaroth. Soon enough he’ll be a big muscly rainbow of pain.
My thoughts: The new Astaroth looks good and Viola’s design and gameplay is nice.
It’s a shame they still can’t translate the concept art designs onto the 3D models well, since the art has a more distinct look to them (in Viola’s case, she looks more mature in the art compared to the 3D model, i.m.o.).
There’s more than just this, but I’ll spotlight this because this video shows a returning “mechanic”: the aesthetic “armor/clothes breaking”. I’m not sure if we knew about this until now. Seemingly, these armor breaks only occur on KO, but I’m kinda disappointed that this is making a return. I’m kind of in the boat that the armor/clothes breaking in SC4 was kinda…creepy in some cases. Hopefully this iteration will be a little tamer. Though, with Maxi completely losing his coat during an armor break…I’m not sure what to expect.
I get a lot of requests to have more revealing costumes… I think Ivy’s 2P costume is pretty revealing.
YES! Can’t wait to see it.

The composers from CIA are Hiroki Kikuta, Cris Velasco and Inon Zur. Look them up! They’re very famous artists in the field!
Cris Velasco known from God of War, and Hiroki Kikuta, the creator of Shadow Hearts!!! One of my favorite JRPG series ever!
Namco Bandai’s been very secretive on SCV IMO. I really want to see how the new mechanics work, the fluid-gameplay, how the new guard system works, what significance the flashing health bar is when near KO (or is that the purpose)

I liked the work the composers did for SC4 (and the composers for 2&3) so I don’t really see why they thought change was necessary?
Not that I’m complaining, mind you. Inon Zur, Hiroki Kikuta and Cris Velasco have all done some exceptional music. I can’t recall that I’ve heard anything by John Kurlander, though.
But I hope they create a super sweet soundtrack!
But I guess this is why we have mostly heard recycled music so far in SC5, the composers must be busy at work.
