Supers and Unblockables are the easiest things to JG, strings are harder and random hits are far, far harder.

Not exactly. If you’re just standing there in neutral and hold Guard after the flash, you’ll still block it. That means you can JG it. If you’re already in an attack or run motion, though, you’ll get hit in most cases.
Yea, that’s true. However, they’re also riskier because messing up could cost you the match. I remember JG’ing a Voldo’s UB on reaction from full screen. It was a Player Match, though. If it was Ranked, I wouldn’t have taken the risk.
…Oh god those comments.
HOW DO I GUARD IMPACT.
CRITICAL EDGE ISN’T IN THE MOVELIST.
“So could you please translate that into X-box controls? I don’t have a K button >.>”
But yeah, I don’t see JGs being like TS parried supers at all.
Especially with so many added variables like on block, on tip hits, 3D plane,
pressing anything during the flash makes you unguard, on finished step, etc.
I dont really take rank that serious. I kinda try but I troll alot and have fun.
I don’t even play ranked much(17 matches) but, I mess around a lot in player matches and I play a lot of good players so, I have like a 42% win rate lol. I normally don’t take ranked seriously either but, I’d like to have a good record somewhere haha.

It’s like Matt and Whoolie… except it’s Matt and Pat!
Don’t expect any meaningful discussion.
Ugh… I am really disappointed in Dampierre… I was looking forward to playing him since he was announced, then got tricked and didnt get him as pre-order bonus (Gamestop told me he stopped being pre-order bonus and that he was just a normal unlockable character… those bastards!).
Finally got him today and damn… he makes Aeon look good… No range, shitty damage, seems to either have no health or take extra damage, his stances last roughly .5 seconds, which kind of negates their entire value as mixups. I’ve also been having issues with his ‘random’ moves breaking combos (For example the 88K>K ABK misses when he does the random jump).
Am I missing something here or is he really this bad?
I really wanted to play this guy…
He’s random, that’s what he is. He can do high damage though, just needs a little luck and execution.
He’s really weird, he’s not meant to be serious at all. That said I think he is better than Aeon and a few others.
With SF X Tekken coming to the scene, does this game have enough support? We will see. Now is when the lack of casuals start to hurt as they constantly bash the game which the game itself is great.
Depends on how u play him. He is random & unpredictable, in fact I always lose to dampierre players because I dont know how to react. Next thing I know, he starts grabbing my legs & I’m caught.
Particularly hate that move where he sits on you n punch u for like forever.
Dampierre has a lot of knockdown lows that are hard to see, but they are really slow and unsafe. I’d suggest not teching during a lot of his knockdowns, since some of his lows will catch your tech but will not hit grounded. Don’t treat him like Voldo when he ends a move with falling to the ground, just back off and avoid the mixup. His range is pathetic, so he’s pretty easy to keep out, and he’s not all that scary when he does get in. Just keep your head and you won’t lose to this gimmicky character.
Just a heads up guys. There’s a tournament in Singapore happening this weekend to qualify for the Soul Calibur V Impact tournament series finals in Europe. While yes it technically clashes with FR, our tournament will most likely be over by the time the stream for SC5 at FR starts. So do check out our stream if you can. Details are here: http://soulsingapore.com/2012/01/29/ssi2012/
The stream will be at http://www.twitch.tv/round1sg and should start at 11PM EST on March 2nd and end at 11AM EST.
Soul Calibur 5 now in MLG Columbus. $16 700 Total Prize Pool. Get Hype.
I’m about ready to heel kick my ps3. Fuck every fast character in this game with a rusty rake.
The only thing I don’t like about this game is that they changed the Guard impact from forward/bakwards + G to F/B + ABK with a 50% meter cost. That is bullshit.
The way it was before wasn’t too hard and wasn’t too easy, it was all in the timing.
Also A2 level Quick Battle opponent “Haruki” (using Dampierre). Fuck that opponent.
Streeeeeam: http://www.twitch.tv./swbeta
Just wasting time in Global Colosseo.
Actually, add me and let’s get an SRK room going. I’d like to stream that. PSN: Star-WB
Finally beat all the Quick Battle opponents this morning. Hells yeah!!!
I like the way Soul Calibur 5 has a tactical combat feel to it. No overpowering comeback factors to win. Execution barrier is mostly lower compared to other fighters (which is a good thing in my opinion.) Character knowledge goes a long way, and you can’t get randomed out in this game. I can’t wait to see this at Evo and MLG. My only complaint is that the damage is a little high for a lot of characters.
Damn missed it…
I was playing Smash Bros with someone(don’t judge me:sad:)
It’s a joke of a fighting game, but I’m good at it without practice so w/e…
