That is most likely the same thing Ramon was thinking when he bodied the kid in Winner’s Finals.
Hey guys! as you can see, I’m working on a beginner’s guide for soul. Would any of you like to add anything? I’ll make sure you’re credited with input.
i advise you run it over with 8way run more then us.
So what’s the overall consensus of SCV? One of the best in the series or mediocre like III and IV?
I use 6B2 more than any of his lows. At -12 on block, it’s safe to everything except FC As, which won’t reach if you space it. aPat can punish it too, and maybe some CEs. The range of this move depends on your opponent’s foot position (some characters stick their legs out more than others), but it extends your mixup range very far. 20 damage for a poke like this is nothing to write off, either.
It’s amazingly good on oki; after landing a 6B2 on a grounded opponent, like in a combo (does one point less than 1B), they can’t roll another 6B2, so you can loop 6B2s until they decide to stop rolling.
It’s -2 on hit, but I can almost always press the offense after with AA or 2A. If the opponent catches on I can backstep anything AA or 2A won’t beat. If you space this move, it’s basically risk free.
it’s biggest weakness is not crouch block, but step. So you’ll need to mix in other moves to beat step.
He was nerfed in some ways, but buffed in others. I’ll take the new Mitsu over the old any day. The 6B series is TOO GOOD
Think it would be possible to get our own subforum on SRK?
Well the game aint popular enough I guess…
Thanx for all the help around Mitsu.Ill make sure to master him before the end of this month.(No school rule)
2 wasn’t the best entry in the series it was just when everyone got it.
4 wasn’t bad it just wasn’t super duper competitive.
5 is to a heavy amount of people one of the better entries in the series. 2 can’t hold the candle forever especially since its the one of the 6 games in the series “fans” liked.
When it comes to offline, 3 has the most content and best stor mode, But is unbalenced, 4 was too defensive for some, 5 shifted the offence to defence. I really preferred 4, for pacing and match mking and the movelists not being shrunken.
Its much harder to have a unique style when the number of movesis reduced.
I reccomend natsu/mistu/leixia/Nightmare if you want characters who are solid/ a little more then solid.
Don’t forget to at least have a secondary and tertiary that you enjoy playing. Mitsu looks stale as hell to play in all honesty.
I would have actually picked up mitsu but the problem is he lost alot of his moves and stance transitions
plus he lost some of his more useful just frames
a good mistu in 4 is and will be always more fun to watch then the mistu in this game incredibly frightening and lighting fast.
hes too bland i need some execution
SCIII looked like a pile of trash compared to II especially with their gameplays & stuff. I never bothered touching that game at all.
SCIV I played with it once with a friend. Holy shit it is soooooo sluggish, clunky and slow as hell. Moving around felt like I was pushing against a brick. Trying to press buttons felt like there was lag.
SCV is amazing in terms of mechanics. It’s fast, smooth as hell and it’s deep. I’m loving the competitive aspect of SCV. Though casual fans who play mainly for the story is hating it.
Mitsu may have lost some of his complexity, but he’s still a beast, might be the best version of Mitsu (tier wise) we’ve seen in a long time.
Bored I borrow soul calibur from my friend… made some 15 min natsu combos… I want to do a big combo with after the cliche combo, wall bounce kick, knock them into the wall then f+a+b and reset the combo all over again loopy loopy like that… Unfortuantely a bit to specific distance wise and I dont care to keep fiddlin’ with it… but yea… some 15 min combos… Pretty easy in general…

IMO it’s the best by a large margin. They decided to try and make it more competitive and it shows. Gameplay and balance-wise it feels better than the others IMO.
However, that also came at the cost of the story and other ‘casual’ options, which may be why it’s ratings and sales took a hit.
I fucking love it, but financially speaking, catering to the competitive scene at the cost of the casuals was a dumb move on Namco’s part unless they sell us 90 more versions of the game (Which to be fair, I would be completely okay with if they keep this level of quality.).
this game isdabes
I love it, it’s the best soul calibur to date, in fact, I’m treating it as a whole new fighting series altogether because of all the new mechanics.
Namco could just build SCVI from SCVs engine, leave the gameplay mechanics and characters untouched, except maybe add a few new characters. Then they could do a retelling of the story and add a lot more stuff to single player content. Now they’ll please the tournament and casual players.
They will in Ultimate Super Soul Calibur 5 Arcade Special Core Variant Edition.
And people who had maxi, ivy, mitsu, hilde, etc, etc as mains.
In that case, I’m going to pick the game up today. We need more FG’s that don’t cater to scrubs and hold their hands. I’ll support Scamco for their decision.
