Soul Calibur 5 Official Discussion

I am more talking about sustainability in my post. Of course the first tourney gonna be a bit big.

And yes faster character just shine more as said from above me. They flow better in the game and actually kinda counter alot of the slower characters.

It is more apparent since almost everyone got nerfed quite hard in this game whether it be damage or the moveset.

Most High rank players I run into aren’t really that that good and they ragequit dc if they are losing.

getting used to alpha pat more and more now
I ran into 2 of them online and they utilized all his JF just like me
pat mirror matchs are pretty good
having difficult time with pyrra i guess im joining the club
shes safe fast and powerful
i almost wann use her outta spite
though im very happy with alpha pat
his damage is hilariously good

Lol I used tiras just like 10 times in a row apparently not all just inputs are at advantage on block. Love ya project soul
-_-

Been practicing Patsuka as a sub, nowhere near as difficult as I was expecting going in. Just like SF4 C Viper I guess, most of it is just people complaining. Does hurt my fingers after a little bit with the JF Umbrellas and up-stabbitys.

Patsuka is pretty broken, there is no way a character with this many tools should do so much damage. Over 100 on a throw? Seriously?

I finally picked up SCV today. I was very skeptical about it because I absolutely could not stand SCIV. Almost everything about it didn’t feel like a true Soul Calibur game to me.

My God, I was put in my place like a bitch when I started playing.

My brother and I ended up running about 100 matches total tonight. Apparently, his new favorite is Nightmare, and I’m growing rather fond of Siegfried. I’m having a fucking blast with this game, and I feel like such a moron for not getting it sooner.

SCV is definitely a fun game. I’ve been maining Mitsurugi (Been doing so ever since SCIV, yeah I’mma newbie to the series.), and Algol.

I love this game, and I only have like one or two complaints about the game altogether, but even then, the pros outweigh the cons IMO.

I disagree, there are a healthy mix of characters who are viable, and characters like Astaroth are a nightmare to characters like Viola. There’s also a reason why Nightmare is annoying despite being one of the slower characters in the game.

Some slower characters like ZWEI are suffering but that’s not because of any speed difficulties.

At this point it’s pointless to say what characters will be better. In week one everyone was whining about how OP Natsu was and how weak Viola was. But Viola has been racking up plenty of victories and shitloads of stuff is being found with her every day. Meanwhile Natsu is proving more and more predictable as time goes on. I think you need to be a really brilliant player to actually make her truly dangerous, people are bitching too much about Natsu online warriors, who are easy to interrupt and keep pressured.

Despite what it may look like, Viola is best up close and at mid range (this is character dependant). The orb, rather than inflicting damage, is there to pressure the opponent and force mixups. For example, without orb, if you go up to the opponent and do BBB for the orb recall, that will cause the opponent to block or duck (more likely block) at which point you’re free for a throw, her B+G throw causes a ring out which is especially good. If they duck you can use 8A+B or maybe her launcher.

Without orb her 6B+K is another good way of inflicting damage because, again, it causes them to block and pressures them while you can run up and do all sorts of shit.

There’s lots of shit to do with her so I suggest you check out the 8wayrun Viola forums and check out some videos.

SC survived with just the east coast and France playing the game competitively for the past couple of years. SCV will be fine. It’s only been two weeks. Just this past weekend there were a bunch of east coast tournaments for SCV, and Texas and Socal had healthy tournaments as well. This weekend you have big tournaments in France and Philly for SC. And Final Round in two weeks. The game will be fine.

How will it stand over time? Probably the same as every other game not named SF and Marvel. But so far there’s been alot of interest in the game from people in various communities, so we’ll see if they continue to stick with the game.

Also, there’s a bunch of people who are reluctant to jump into SCV right now because of the problems with the past two games. We’ll have a better idea of how things look after Final Round.

Casuals have no interest in playing the game seriously, especially when they’ll just get blown up. But the game has solid online play which has the potential of bringing in new people and keep the existing players playing throughout this game’s lifecycle, so right now I am not worried.

So many casuals crying about lack of plot and ignoring that the gameplay is the best it’s ever been.

The first few weeks of any games the characters that are more powerful are the ones that are easier to use and have a clear cut gameplay for winning. As a game matures sometimes these characters falter as people figure out to handle them or they can remain strong throughout. But the characters that are harder to use will become stronger as people understand.

SCV is barely a 2 weeks old, and right now, Natsu, Mitsu, Nightmare, Pat, Pyr and Astorath seem the strongest, time will tell if it holds up.

A.Pat is so dumb in this game :\ But I guess that’s a good thing.

He’s really fun to play, but strong. Too strong I think. After only a couple of days in training with him and some offline matches, he does wayyy too much damage for a character with all the tools he has. I still like play Cervantes more though.

Honestly not a whole different world then setska but now that the style is required to play in the story it appeals to people who didn’t try it before.

When you fight the good ones you see lenghty combos, others (not bad ones) will mainly interrupt you though.

That bitch was always cray when you played someone that could use her. Though I fought one and felt dumb for not picking tira instead of ivy against them because they only use A>b for the most part (the quick horizontal) I kept trying to give the benefit o the doubt, but yeah, mistake

They should make some natsu shit just input, like the throw after explosion or lower its damage. It does nearly ce damage for two hits.

Largely because it isn’t.

Soul Calibur 1 had the best gameplay.

It has aged heavily. You could make an argument for Soul Calibur 2, but number 1 feels far too bare bones.

Nah.

Hwang was a much more complete character than Young Sonned.

Maxi was a genuinely complex, viable high execution character.

And GI wasn’t dumbed down.

What was more barebones, compared to 2, exactly?

1 is better than 5? Your words lose all credibility and is now officially overemotional whining because SCV hurt you deeply lolz

Nah
Follow ups on Ukemi were limited and other then that you have the same gameplay to soul calibur except enhanced stages more legit follow ups quick step actual combos
Soul calibur 1 has aged badly
As for the brain dead just impact it wastes meter
You can be just impacted in return right after
And why are you using it
Just guard people
Use it

I disagree.

GI is still good. sure way out of any mix up for half meter? I’ll take that.
