And let me just say that the “Casual” Lobby option is a pretty neat idea, especially if you want to play a match online right away without worrying about rank. It may be better than Player Lobbies. Plus, it even has chat! :tup:
She just doesn’t feel like Ivy, yeah Ivy changes every single game, but she always grows… SCV Ivy has been stripped of things she had since SC2 and they mashed up a bunch of moves from every game, made alot of normal moves into Brave edges attacks and made the difficultly of some of her attacks needless harder.
her Command throw is :u::d: :u::d: :f: :f::f: B&G for instance…
Zero stances, how do you go from a character that has always had stances, multiple ones to ZERO? At the very least she should have had whip stance. (also my fave)
She gets about has the same range as about ast, with weak mix up (decent pressure tho it seems)
Blocking is a pain in the ass for me right now (online) as Cervantes. I find that short two hit swings seem to catch me high or low and its easy to dash+throw in this game. Is there anything like techthrowing in this game and any sort of n00b advice for blocking correctly?
God I used to be so good in this game when it was 2. Now its 5 and I suck again. I can’t block, cant execute combos correctly. GAWD. Gonna have to grind again. I’m liking the game though. Ezio is fun as hell
yeah legit what the fuck happened to ivy?
:u::d: :u::d: :f: :f::f: B&G calamity symphony is dumb
the lack of stances is odd.
in 4 yeah she had 4 stances and was complex but you could play her in multiple ways.
now some attacks are done from crouching and jumping only some a held button or direction as opposed to an input, she lost the stun from :qcb: , can’t really follow it up as well
summon suffering costs some meter and does 15 more damage then a normal throw,
her “super” is a grab, out of all the ways she could juggle people they couldn’t make it something else?
the distance gotten from the whip stance is kinda gone, she still has a few of those moves but not many.
I’m fairly happy with some changes but tira (i miss some of her old moves, especially counter crouching b, that was a staple move for her{when she throws opponent in air with ring} changing the input for when she hits her head against the ring and removing the vertical + then horizontal done with + ) and ivy’s silliness didn’t fly to well with me. all + :k: attacks seem to be gone (from at least those two)
God I have never play a Soul Calibur game outside of casual play. Now I am actually trying to learn it and I have no clue what the hell I’m doing in training mode. What should I be trying to accomplish? I’m literally just in training mode pressing buttons. The characters have so many moves and what not to learn. Where do I start?
Love the game so far - not something I’ll get serious about, but a lot of fun nonetheless. Of my grievances, I dislike the lack of character endings (kills my motivation to beat the game with all the characters), lack of characters to play in story mode (good story mode, but lack of replay and character variety hurts it), three mimic characters (I had high hopes for at least Elysium being something new), lack of real Mina (c’mon, she’s been in every single Soul game, including Soul Edge. Gah…) and many of the ‘new’ characters just being the old characters (would have loved for Natsu, Leixia, and Xiba to at least play slightly differently from their older counterparts - then they could have sold the old school characters to us as DLC and we would have bought it =P).
However, the truly new characters (Patroklos, ZWEI and VIola) really bring new things to the table, so I’m happy for that. Online is also really fun, so I’m happy for that as well.
Oh yeah, important question (for me) - is Dampierrre’s Soul usable in CAS? Appreciate it!
Blackout- learn your characters strong mids, safe launchers, tracking moves, quick lows, and command grabs, first off. After that, you have to actually play against people.
Been playing this shit all day with a. Pat in training mode. Shit is no joke. I’m trying to step my shit up fast so I won’t get wrecked off line, but I know I’m not gonna have enough time before the first local meet lol.
I remember one of the commentators on the 8WayRun stream a few hours ago gave out what I think is one of the best tips for a game like this, and that’s “Keep it simple, and don’t complicate things” or something among the lines of that. While it may seem vague in the beginning, I think what he’s trying to get at is that instead of focusing on doing all these juggle combos, pressure Oki setups, etc. Just focus on what simple tasks such as spacing your opponent with pokes, be patient and look for key opportunities.
Legendary Souls Mode is fucking stupid. I finished it today with 7 wins and 130 loses.
DO NOT PLAY THIS MODE. It is just reactionary AI that you have to trick (or get lucky) in order to beat. The last few characters in LS Mode start Just Guarding in the middle of blocked strings, and doing big punishes. This makes it unsafe to do anything.
Just so people know. You can unlock Elysium by beating her in Story Mode. You can unlock Kilik by beating him in Arcade Mode. You can unlock Algol by beating him in Quick Match mode.
Yeah, I’d recommend just beating Kilik by using Edge Master in arcade mode, unless you can encounter him easier with another character.
Still working on Algol.
By the way, I LOVE how I can go straight victories, several perfects in a row, then I hit Nightmare, and spend 10 fucking minutes fighting him over and over and over again.
He touches you once, your dead. He counters you once, your dead. You get close to killing him, he’ll fucking pull off some Marvel combo or just ring you out. It’s incredibly frustrating.
Edit: Right after I typed that, he ringed me out again - at the start of the round. Soon as it was time to fight, he hit me with a four hit combo that had me falling out of the ring. BRB, maining Nightmare.
Fuck it. I’d actually pay to have all characters unlocked instead of having to go through this unlocking shit. Having to unlock characters in a tournament fighting game is just plain dumb. For anyone thinking of bringing up the “good old days” and how people “earned” their shit, you’ve obviously forgetten about all the shit that people did just to get machines ready for tournaments (true story, Mike Z once spent 3 hours flicking the coin lever on a cab just to unlock all the characters).
