Soul Calibur 5 Official Discussion

I have the CE fully paid off at Gamestop. Next week can’t come soon enough.

Even if it weren’t the case why not simply make a default Devil Jin character for tournament use? Like, DJ style, pick default height, default weight, change no other options - except maybe give him some of the preset clothing so he doesn’t fight naked - and call it a day.

Care to elaborate?

I’m seriously going to ask Capcom for my money back so I can buy Dampierre.

Do you want to explain?

Ultras, Burst, X-Factor and dessert.

You got me there.

Like what if you don’t mind me asking?

Honestly other than the exclusion of talim Im happy with how the game is looking so far. It might not end up being as good/competitive as I would like, but at the moment though it looks really good. Sick roster(in spite of the obvious exclusions), nice looking training mode, replays(I can’t believe we still have fighters that don’t ship with this) and some fun looking modes.

Roster can be much better but I’m very much looking forward to checking out the games mechanics and gameplay. I was probably gonna buy SCV anyway. But if they didn’t have Nightmare or a suitable replacement along with whatever they have now I would’ve been hard-pressed to keep SCV for a good amount of time.

They took away all of Ivy’s stances. Me no likey
Setsuka isn’t there. Me no likey
Taki’s replacement sounds like somebody from the Bring It On movies. Me no likey
Along with Raph, and Nightmare these are my favorite characters.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

BUT… I still would’ve bought the game because of these two things…

#1 They’re probably gonna DLC the characters we want
#2 If they at least have the fighting styles, I can CaS them into someone cool.

Before these ADDITIONAL characters were revealed, people thought the roster was great. How does revealing MORE characters suddenly make it worse? I don’t think this is actually going to matter once the game comes out, after playing it, it is improved a lot from IV and feels a lot more fun in a way similar to SCII, but is definitely a new game.

You can’t blame the developers for your favorite character not being in at release, really there is only a few that didn’t make it, it’s obvious that this game is being forced through quickly. That only makes it even more impressive how great the game looks and feels.

Harada is unplayable - the moveset is CaS exclusive, there is no playable character it is bound to. That’s a new issue that didn’t appear in 3 or 4. They decided to ban the Devil Jin moveset because they are afraid creating a standardized character for him allows an opening for a “slippery slope” that’ll let everyone play all their broken created characters in tournaments. That’s the reasoning they’ve said, anyways. I certainly don’t agree with it, but theres 27 other legal movesets in the game, so no reason for complaint.

There was some video of story mode up earlier, but looks like it got taken down
Went up to the BAD END, by the looks of it.

I have the game on preorder but not the collectors, might not care about it in the end.

So if they ban your favourite character, you should just pick a new one right? More than enough characters in the game, doesn’t matter if the character’s playstyle you liked so much isn’t anywhere else in the game but on the character they banned.

I agree that they should just go into CaS. Pick a default male. Use a default outfit(There aee presets like Ninja, Pirate, Samurai, etc) and call it a day.

^lmao that is bad, reminds me of watching scrubs play in the arcade back in the day…

I love people (re: idiots) who complain about and deride others for not sharing their unbridled enthusiasm for a game that omits those things for which said others used to be enthused by said game.

Aroo!

You’re mistaken. What some people are confused about is how you can stop being excited and hyped for something due to unexciting character additions at the very end.
Unless their sole reason for being excited about SC5 was the potential of a character being in the game, then it doesn’t make much sense (not to me, at least).

So no complaints really, just plain old confusion.

^ Pretty much, especially from a group of people that wanted solid game play 1st and foremost and was happy about almost everything shown…until they drop 3 mimic characters and dropped 3 main characters.

Now the game sucks, and they dont want to support it?

I do not think this is it at all.

People are pissed about a rather large chunk of the alluded roster being a bullshit bait-and-switch.

The character slots have been tantalizing people for months, conditioning players’ hype for the roster.

To at the last moment have 5 of the slots be revealed as being either clones with altered movesets, or, worse, mimics, is disingenuous, at best. At worst, it’s equivalent to someone not mentioning having the herp, because he or she is in remission.

This is like MVC3 all over again.

No one is saying that the last characters aren’t terribly disappointing, hell even I was hoping characters like Zasalamel, Talim and co would show up. But 3 disappointing characters does not mean the game is shit because of that, hence why we can’t understand why people are overreacting so hard over this, specially when we’ve been hearing nothing but praise gameplay-wise.

If people are so up in arms because X or Y didn’t make the game, would they still be whining over this if the bottom row was made of fully original characters instead of the old characters people wanted?

Like Prime said, if the potential of a character being in the game was the sole reason for you to be excited for this game then thats your problem, not the game’s.
