Good look on the video, Tatsu. You pulled some shit I didn’t even know was possible; namely the air combo during Karas’ assist super into another fire tornado super. I put the video on the first page, along with your note about the headsplitter, with credits of course.
I played my friend today, but until some monstrous ass combos pop up for the other characters, Soki is banned. Kinda sucks because I wanted to main him, but hopefully the other characters will get some good ass chains going in the future.
There’s gotta be some infinites with soul absorb cancel, right? I can’t get at the game right now, but couldn’t you just like…A,B,CxxSoul absorb (maybe dash), A,B,C etc?
soki can be a teeny bit farther away for the baroque combo shown in the video and it will still hit.
i’ve tried everything i could think of but there doesn’t seem to be any use for implementing it into combos. it’s still good for keeping pressure on the opponent though.
EDIT: something i found out about the last combo i did in the video
after doing those 4 B attacks when the opponent is caught in the air, it’s possible to dash forward and do C, Launcher, A B B, j.B C (aerial rave) as he is falling down. it won’t do as as much damage as the qcf super, but the difference is small. if you don’t have another meter hanging around, then this is the way to go. besides, landing the qcf super at the exact time (to get the most damage out of the flames) can be hard.
DOUBLE EDIT: realized that i forgot to include the qcf super combo in the tutorial video. shit guys, i done fucked up
dammit Tatsujinken right when i do get a chance to finally watch it Still, thanks ahead of time for putting it together. If you’re in Garden Grove we should play some time. (I just realized every time I say those words it happens maybe once every six months or so >_<)
Superhero: I’m still not convinced that Soki is that unbeatable… Though I can understand why it’d be annoying if the only people playing were you and your buddy.
BTW, who have you guys been using to back up Soki? I can’t really come up with a really good complement in terms of style… since Soki really stands out on his own so much already.
the one i usually play against turtles very well against soki, and the power armor is no help at all, since it doesnt work against hyper moves (except in oni form) and the startup lag is long enough to counter it with most hyper moves
the only way i found so far against the turtling are varied very long combos hoping that one time he does a defense mistake, and if he doesnt i use baroque or assist to cover the unsafe spots at the end of the combo, and try start the next one. the jab-mashs really help wasting some time to make the assist avialable more regularly
heh, sorry. video should be up by tommorow morning/afternoon
i’m just hoping i don’t forget anything else, because knowing the perfectionist that i am i would probably remove the video and reupload it again if i caught even the smallest error. i need to double check mucho this time…!
and yeah, let’s play sometime. didn’t notice you live in irvine.
soki/karas team has been working wonders for me but then again i haven’t really tried out any other characters so idk
Hey everyone i just start playing TVC i really like soki but i also like casshern i just want to know if that a good team to go with? Because i hear casshern has a good assist.
I notice that oni magic xx issen after a knockdown causes a wall bounce but i was unable to recover before my opponent hit the floor. boroque after issen… Most likely not as damaging as the other combos but something new to mess around with.
Yeah, I’ve only been playing casuals with a couple of guys who don’t really play standard fighting games a lot. A has been already said, Soki has little to no viable options against a defense player, and even less against turtlers. His overheads are all slow and predictable (Skull splitter or IAD, pick your poison). Despite that, he’s got hella range, can confirm BnBs from a long distance, and has a ridiculous damage output in relation to the ease of execution of his combos. I don’t know if he’s as good as I make im out to be, but he seems to be really good from what I’ve seen so far.
As for who I use to back him up, it’s Karas. Before, I’d use Karas’ special assist to continue his combos, and his super support to follow up Soki’s fire hurricane. Add all the shit I saw after watching Tatsu’s CV, and he’s definitely my go-to guy for supporting Soki.
Hey man, thanks for reuploading that video. Thanks to the OP and everyone who’s contributed in here too! I’m so lost in this game, and can’t practice it on my own so this info really helps.
soki-karas team ftw. i only wish my karas was nearly as developed as my soki…
and the way i see it, soki not having instant overheads is not all that big of a deal. he’s already a force to be reckoned with. aside from his damage, his pokes and his range are really good. even on defense, soki can just pushblock enemies away and he’d still be within range to perform his combos. i mean, if you think about it, lots of characters have range problems in this game. what the heck are they gonna to do to approach to do their bnbs? jump in? we’ve got standing C. come in from the ground? we just hit confirm a single poke on them and follow through with a combo.
i don’t know guys. if anything, it seems like it would be hard for other characters to land damage on soki. he’s the one you should really be afraid of as far as defense goes (let’s not forget about those counters and super armor moves).
btw superhero can you update the video link on the first page? i had to reupload the video because i was missing a super combo. the new link is .
superhero: yea so far it seems like against soki, runaway and defensive players are effective
problem is capcom didnt design this as a turtling game, its hella offensive. i can see saki/mm possibly giving normal soki so trouble but outside that its uphill. i play doronjo and all i can do is airdash away use her air zoning move which has horrendous recovery (most special moves in the game have bad recovery as well) so if i guess wrong im eating a combo 3/4s of the screen away. you cant call assists in any sort of defensive matter so if sokis just using pokes to get ya you have to get a well timed pushblock, hit neutral and assist and block again
soki is beefy
I’m trying to do that four gauge combo in your video, but I can’t seem to get it going. I’m gonna practice when I get to my friend’s house later; it looks so badass. Haha.
Holy shit last combo is freaking awesome. Now if I’d put down Persona 3 (yeah 3… I was working at Atlus when they were working on it so I gave myself time to forget the details and enjoy the game) I’d actually start practicing that stuff. I need to remember to Baroque in the first place >_>
Right now I am using Chun as a partner just because she’s fun to play, but one of the things I really like is how pretty much any super can be DHC’d after QCF super’s fire tornado… for that reason alone doing BnB into QCF super into Ryu’s Shinku Hadouken was so demoralizing to my scrubbly friends.
anyway, the soki-karas variable hyper combo is as follows (costs 3-4 meters):
A, B, C, :r:C, :d::d:C, [baroque here, do same combo, but starting at B instead of A] :dp:super (level 1 with B+C issen) and have karas come out to vhc, jump, j.B, j.B, double jump, j.B, j.B
now at this point you should be behind them if you landed the issen. you can either do :qcb: super as they are falling, or you can dash forward and C, launcher, [aerial rave]
i can get it off pretty consistently. the toughest part is catching the opponent’s fall, especially if you’re going for a full aerial rave. otherwise, this is a relatively easy combo to do for the damage that it dishes out.
in other news, this just in, etc: gold lightan, ptx-40a, and yami don’t give a shit about soki’s super armor in oni form. they’ll stun him with their attacks like they would on any other character
Don’t have the game (play at a friend’s) so I can’t test, but one way to combo a fully charged 623A+B super might be DHCing to it after the hit of the genie dude’s super that dizzies. Anyone mind testing that for me and seeing if it’s escapable? :bgrin:
just tested, no luck. although, the super armor still works on ptx-40a’s projectiles (including projectile super).
success! it takes about half of ryu’s life off. gotta love the damage on that level 3.
i did some further testing myself, and found that it’s possible to land a level 3 :dp: super with megaman too. just do soki’s level 1 :dp: super (no issen), vhc megaman, and then charge all the way while megaman is firing those shots. the downside is that this will only work in the corner.
