**"Sony has found itself in a huge hole during the past six years. Despite winning the Blu-ray war, its electronics division has been more of an expensive investment than a money maker. A huge sum of debt had been accumulated during the PS3’s most turbulent years, and its Bravia televisions haven’t been nearly as competitive as it would like.
Music and film are the two areas where Sony manages to find consistent success, not gaming. That said, how the PS4 and Vita fare during the next couple years will be incredibly important for the survival of one of the most prominent electronics companies of the 21st century."**
Xbone to win by default? Crushed hopes and dreams.
Things would suck if they die. While I don’t like all of their 1st and 2nd-party games, to me, they’ve had the strongest third-party support since the PS1. Also, unlike Msoft and Nintendo, Sony is constantly making new IP’s and trying something new, instead of just Halo/Gears/Mario/Zelda/Halo/Gears/Mario/Zelda.
Really?! This is sad to hear. I not a Playstation user but I agreed the Sony is always incredible on creating new IP’s but seen like the markets love rehash games. I pray that it doesn’t happen but with a 79% chance, it may happen. Why do we live in a world where great companies die but bad ones live?
Edit: My mind jump the gun. There’s no way in hell this will happen. I’m not going to lie but Sony games caught my eye more than Micro & Niet games. Plus, they’re strong in JP and here in NA. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Not sure how much doomsaying I actually trust, but if that happens it’ll probably when I quit gaming on anything but handhelds and older consoles unless Nintendo finally pull their fucking finger out on the home console side.
Can’t be arsed with PC gaming (especially since I’ve been burnt out on shooters for years and can’t give 2 shits about strategy games) and fuck an Xbone.
Out of the console big 3, MS has been leaking the most financially, but Sony is the one hurt most by their losses. Nintendo is stable, but they have a pretty large turd with the Wii U, and their relevance in the home console space is in doubt. I’m kind of tired of these alarmist “Capcom only has 152 million” headlines, but I think there’s going to be a shake-up in the console business this gen, maybe/maybe not from Sony.
What would be awesome in my dream world is that Sega would come out of no where with a cartridge based console were each game was on it’s own solid state drive and the console itself was a monster that made better graphics that the highest end pc on high settings but they were practically giving them away because they were like fuck it, we hate money.
Sega makes games for what were their rivals in the industry.
Sega has an exclusivity deal with fucking Nintendo. It’s just rough times all around.
Edit: Still, Sega has managed to put out some awesome games this gen. Overall, they were > Capcom, Konami, Squeenix and whoever else, with Konami being the most disappointing. Capcom was hit-and-miss, and Squeenix was 99% garbage like they have been for the past 10 years or so.
Well Microsoft’s entertainment division is only a small fraction of the total company.
Microsoft can afford to lose money on Xbox as it pulls more a month from sales of Windows, Office and revenue generated on IE and Bing than what Xbox makes in a year.
I am just wondering if I am the only one that laughs when people talk crap about the Wii U and then say how they like the 3DS. Does no one remember the early days of the 3ds? LMAO
