Looking at that extended gameplay trailer for Generations makes me realize that Sega COULD make a great Sonic game without borrowing from previous sonic games.
Just saw the extended footage.
The 2D part looks like they’re of the Dimps school of "make a cool Uniracers course and to hell with actual platforming."
The 3D part looks like every other 3D Sonic game, but with prettier graphics.
I think I’ll be saving my money.
whats with sonic generations? why no sonic 4 episode 2…?
and i got sonic adventure DX for psn…all they need now is sa2Battle and all will be right with the world…
That hedgehog engine’s lookin’ pretty good. Now all Sega’s gotta do is figure out what they can add to the game that’ll ruin the experience/piss the fans off… and then not do that.
I started playing the DS version of Sonic Colors. With generations looking this good, I might settle and get Colors for the Wii as well instead of waiting as originally planned. I dunno, I kind of don’t feel like hooking up my Nintendo until Zelda comes out.
They need stages from across the board for Generations, atleast that would be a good idea.
Generations looks amazing yeah I’m hyped fuck you specs.
Maybe. Sega has done a good job fulfilling all the schoolyard trolling from Nintendo fans that all you do in Sonic is push forward. Hopefully the design in the classic stages are multi-tiered with speed routes and platforming/exploring routes, otherwise pass. Honestly this whole game strikes me as patronizing, but it’s still early for judgment.
I’m not falling for the Sonic Cycle this time. Pass.
From the gameplay trailer alone, the game doesn’t look all that special. This is strictly been there, done that territory since Unleashed already had this sort of dynamic, except seamlessly swapped between during stages.
I will keep an eye out for what else Sega might have up their sleeves yet, though.
browsing Gaf currently…some small amount of new footage pertaining to Modern Sonic within an interview

Really don’t like that the Modern Sonic portions look way closer to Unleashed (AKA runs to fucking fast and you can’t see anything or react unless you memorize) than to Colors. Hopefully that changes along the way, because Colors was amazing.
I still say they could use Flickies (sp) with Modern Sonic and have them be like the Wisps with each Flicky giving Sonic a different power.
There might be a hub world in Generations…

good or bad…you decide.
Also if you’ve never listened to some of Tee Lopes renditions of Sonic stages you probably should

I think hub worlds are unnecessary =/
cool, side quests add replay value but I need MOAR information
are Classic Tails and Knuckles in?
I expect those 2 characters to become DLC…
oh man!!! sonic generations looking as amazing as sonic colors/unleash day time stages. like damn sega is on a roll. how can anyone hate on this engine is beyond me. the unleash engine imo blows the classic 2d sonics along with sonic adventure 1 & 2 out the fucking water. it’s like how hard corps uprising shits on every other contra. needless to say, i’m hyped as fuck.
Saw the trailer last week and this is my most anticipated game this year.
Unleashed Day stages are fun but I can understand some people not getting down with boosting at INSANE SPEEDS 90% of the time and barely being able to keep up or react on the first go round. It’s basically Rush in 3D. The only issue that I could have had with Unleashed Day time stages was rectified in DLC and in Colors where they actually forced you to slow down and do some platforming or to maybe actually go an alternate path and actually explore the level. That at least showed me that Sega can still do it.
Edit:
You’re putting your faith in it that quickly eh?
In and of themselves, hub worlds aren’t harmful.
