Mm, episode 1. Sounds like they’re going all DLC on this.
Game certainly looks very pretty. That it has a homing attack in a 2D environment is nice. Hoping they got their inspiration from S1 Megamix, because Sonic was ridiculously fun to play in that game.
I have tears in my eyes. I have forever loved Sonic and still stand my little blue guy. THIS BETTER NOT SUCK!!! Either way this has truley made my day.
The fact that it’s only Sonic and episodic content. C’mon, no Tails or Knuckles really? Does Sonic Team level designers suck so bad that they can’t handle designing levels that fit all three? They could do it back in the day!
Though watch, in the next episode, the perks will probably be getting to play as Tails and 2-Player mode, and then the third episode will feature Knuckles and some other gimmick (and I don’t mean gimmick in a bad way). If that’s the case, and ONLY if that is the case then episodic Sonic won’t be a bad idea after all.
BUT! Each episode needs to contain at least 6 zones with 2-3 Acts each. That’s as long as Sonic 3 and that was practically half of a whole.
So Sega could have a hit on their hands but I’m not impressed until I see a bigger trailer.
PS. How bad ass of a boss fight would it be if Robotnik lead you to a room with a really high ceiling, trapped you there and then…
UNLEASHED SONIC 2 METAL SONIC, SONIC CD METAL SONIC, AND MECHA SONIC ON YOUR ASS AT ONCE. That would be charmy’s knees man.
Also it’s probably coming out to the iPhone. As an iPhone and 360 owner I feel torn. This is probably going to be, at most, a two button game so it’s not like it’ll be hard to do on the iPhone but I also like pretty graphics. Ughhhhh!
…some request i have about Sonic 4 (jesus i never thought i’d be saying that.)
That this is the Boss Music. None of that 80’s pop style shit they do nowadays.
-Though i generally liked sonic Rush, the game (and even the advance series) had a HUGE problem with endless pits. It seemed that anywhere you ran, you were bound to run into one. It bothered me only because the levels never seemed grounded, they all seemed like a generic floating world. The problem lies in the fact that you become overly cautious about where you’re running, which slows you down, which sonic is not about. Give me some long stretches with obstacles and the OCCASIONAL endless pits. Having one every few feet is just annoying.
-Make the god damn TV’s actual square shaped televisions again. All these sphere like balloons bother me.
-Don’t name every single enemy “egg” something.
-I’d actually be fine with them introducing tails and knuckles as playable in later episodes, but keep it to JUST them.
-Bring back tails assisted levels/bosses. (Sky chase, and sonic 3’s marble garden style)
-Have this theme as the title theme. Mario mixed it’s original theme up, why can’t sonic?
-Bonus Stages! I’d rather the hidden giant rings rather then the ones that appear at the end of the level.
-Make me have to actually hold down and jump to spin dash…i hate it when it’s a button press.
-Oil Ocean anyone? Maybe one or 2 remixes stages for nostalgia sake. I always wanted to see Azure Lake in S3’s multiplayer expanded into a whole level.
to me though, sonic rush was the last best game and that was a LONG time ago. Many times I said I’m done with sonic and I keep coming back expecting some miracle game.
Damn it. I got shit to do but I’ll make this quick.
If Tails and Knuckles are introduced in later episodes they’ll have to be backwards compatiable. It’s not like they are going to make a new game each time, just very large chunks of DLC. So for them not to allow new character to be playable in older levels is just bizarre though since it’s Sega.
2-Player mode. It’s great for kids and it could be a fun social thing to do online with someone else. Same rules as before though, second player doesn’t die and can’t hit boxes. Or if they figure out something better I am open to the idea.
Race mode. Since we no longer have to be constrained to a bad split screen, an online (and even a offline splitscreen) race mode is possible. I think that Sonic 3 had it the best with the laps. Because sometimes you’d do great, others, you’d be in a pit, losing.
Azure Lake. Honestly all the Sonic 3 race levels had great designs and deserve to be expanded into full blown zones. I’d love to play that one cave zone from Sonic 3’s race mode. It wasn’t volcanic and it wasn’t creepy like the Mystic Cave in 2. It had a mined out look to it which I dug a lot.
I haven’t been really disappointed with a Sonic soundtrack yet. Even the crappiest ones have a few gems on them. I think they should go for a variety of styles in the sense that yeah, bring back the looping fun stuff from the originals but don’t skip out on the jazzy orchestral rock infused fun from the Adventure series or even the hyper kinetic Hideki Nagnuma stuff from Sonic Rush. For instance, the green hill zone can do with the classic sound. A big city stage could work with the Adventure style music. And lastly, a crazy mechanical stage could use the Rush sound.
I’m assuming that this game will just use one button and I wonder if the homing dash is in. They should keep that over the split-second shield.
Cameos from the Chaotix and beyond won’t hurt. I said cameos.
Character model gallery. I’d love to have this so I can check out the badniks and bosses up close.
-MOST OF ALL I want to be able to explore again and for it to be worth it.
Would be nice to hear it from Sega themselves, though…instead of one of his the composers in a European magazine.
It’s ironic (and a little sad). Now that he’s gone, we get confirmation of his Sonic 3 involvement, Sonic 4 is announced, and people are wishing he could have done the new music.
But, if he didn’t pass away, we might not have gotten confimarton of Sonic 3 (because the interview might not have taken place), and people wouldn’t have been so into Michael Jackson related things since his very death allowed people to embrace him again.
I guess you can’t win…you can’t break even…you can’t get out of the game…
As trivial as it sound, my love for the old school Sonic games had much to do with the music. So if the game has awesome music, I’m almost guaranteed to enjoy it.
IMO Sonic 2’s multiplayer VS. shits all over Sonic 3’s.
S3’s feels VERY short, with less traps and enemies filling the stages. S2’s featured the ENTIRE zone with about the same level of items and gadgets, I could play S2 Vs. today with somebody and STILL wouldn’t get bored until I hit up the special stages. If possible, an idea for online mulitplayer with S2 Vs intangibles would be hella sweet.
Instead of having 0% hope for this one, I have about 5%. Still not good odds.
This is SONIC TEAM, people. No matter how good the game looks or sounds, don’t ignore precedent. Wait for positive reviews and impressions from people who AREN’T diehard Sonic fanboys before you buy it.
If forced to choose between another orchiectomy (on my last remaining testicle), anal sex from Dr. B, or playing shitty Sonic Team games for a week straight… I’d choose the B, no homo. (Well, partially homo.) My second choice? … The Sonic Team games, but not by much.
