So since i’ve never seen this mentioned here before, i was messing around in training mode and found out you can cancel air tatsus into air SA1. while it won’t connect if you hit with the air tatsu, it will if your opponent is parrying your air to air tatsu, which can possibly make them mess up their parrying. I know this isn’t the most usefull thing ever since they can still parry the fireball but if you don’t do it often it’ll probably work once in a while? I haven’t had anybody parry the air sa1 yet to see if you have time to try to also mess up that parry but chances are you land before they parry 6 hits.
It’s a fairly common tactic, however it does bring up something I saw match using in Japan this past trip I wanted to bring up in this forum. It’s a similar tactic. What he’d do is after his opponent parried one of his normals air to air, he’d throw out an sa1 (you have to wait for the mid air freeze after an air to air parry). The parry timing for it looks really awkward.
One of the nice things about this is even if they start parrying the sa1, you will fall first, and unless they just take the last 4 hits, you can jump back up with a rh tatsu, which creates a really difficult parry while they are parrying the sa1, and because they parried, it resets the damage, so if you hit them out of them parrying the sa1 with the tatsu, you can juggle with lk tatsu on the ground, and a fierce shoryu, for approximately the same damage as an sa1, but you get a bunch of meter for it. Win/win situation, unless you are playing YSB, because he will parry the whole thing and hit you with sa3.
IIRC Yuki Otoko did something like this to Raoh at SBO5. But Raoh didn’t have to parry it in the air, he landed and then got hit. LOL.
I guess we’re all learning new things. I didn’t even know that Akuma’s SA1 could even be used in the air. Nor did I know that shun goku satsu was in SFIII as well. It seems a bit harder to pull off, but it does. I don’t think the damage is worth it, unless you know you’re gonna win after a connect. I believe it’s still unblockable (but still punishable of course)
Well, there are plenty of surprises with Gouki. The Shun Goku Satsu has 2 be perfectly timed as if you already know what move your opponent is going 2 do and how you’re going 2 punish it.
Are any of you guys on GGPO? My gamertag on there is Gin-Ichimaru. Maybe we can put in sum sparring & training time.
I have found that it is good not to say I “found” something out about a decade old game.
But thanks, I might use this
Bumping a one year old thread to say that, really?
Everything in this sub-forum is old. Obviously old threads are gonna get bumped, no matter what is being said.
But sorry mister forum po-po, I’ll check the date first next time. Didn’t know threads expired like milk does
Point is i’m bored of meaningless answer like ‘hey, thx’ or whatever. Would have been the same without it, specially for a one year old thread.
Forum like this should be a source of info, not a source of chit-chat.
I may sound like a dick but i don’t care.
I’m having the worst time w/ shun goku satsu. I can do it no problem in every other game it’s in, but not 3rd Strike
scratch that, just landed it seems like it has to be done much faster than in other games
