It’s my personal belief that some characters in the game were given the ability to dash out of the first few frames of their chargeable special move without holding the button down. I play Raven and when practicing the cr.HP loop I soon realized I didnt have to hold the button down when doing it, and this caused my consistency to skyrocket. I also noticed Bison could do it. I haven’t found anyone else yet but I’m still testing.
I don’t think this really changes anything about the game, but just might make some combos more brain dead. If you manage to see what I’m talking about with Raven or Bison and say it’s due to input leniency or whatever, try it with Ryu or Ken and see that the timing no matter how similar will not let you dash without holding the button.
Edit: looks like Rolento can do it too, quite easily in fact, much like Raven. Still testing others.
Yoshimitsu can dash cancel out of his charge super before you even see the animation for the attack. I call it the “crab dance”, all you see his him dash back or forward and generate meter. It’s pretty funny, look here: Click the “meter building” time stamp in the description.
Very interesting! No wonder Raven’s was so much easier for me. I’m gonna look into frame data to see if there’s a correlation.

That would explain why I kept getting back dash accidentally when I try to do scissor kicks, but don’t have the same problem with Boxer’s dash punches.
Nice find. (Sucks for Bison players though. It means they’ll have to wait a tiny bit longer before they can start charging after doing mk or hk scissors.)
In the guide it says there is a minimum number of frames before you can dash out of you move. are these dashes instant or does it correlate with startup frames? I don’t have time to test or I would.
Yeah, this does suck for us. Makes charge buffering on MK and HK Scissors a nightmare. Often you’ll hit :f: + :k: then to charge and a backdash comes out. It’s shit.
