just dont spam argus against bella, doesn’t seem relavent. I love facing solos, they are basically free, except guitalex’s fortune, it just feels like solos are gambling on the person with assists messing up or dropping combos
Actually it is more relevant than you are making it out to be. Cerebella’s level 3 isn’t even the strongest. It ranks behind Double and Valentine.
It highlights out the danger of being punished by a level 3 blockbuster if you do anything unsafe as a trio character and you are in range of getting hit.
My underlying point is that before I assumed solo’s had to put effort into killing trios. While they still do they obviously have a tool that makes them far more dangerous than they ever could be to duos.
the way im running it is trios are my main while duo is what i switch to if i lose to a duo. if i started with a duo, and lost to a solo i might go solo or pick a better assist. if i lost to a duo as a duo i just need to get better. if i lost to a trio as a duo, i’ll switch to trio… so basically if a lose to any size team i will switch to that size team, unless its a solo at which point in time i make a gutcheck and either go solo or pick a different assist.
seems kinda smart to me since that way i’m never severely underpowered either in options or damage.
just did some testing, i havn’t been able to recreate the instant kill level 3, im not sure what happened there, but normally that level 3 does 10k against triple team. So it still can’t instant kill unless its in that particular sitution and doubles level 3 cant either, a combo into a level 3 will, but not just raw level 3. essentially trios have 2.5k less health per character than a duo team. ill take another character plus more options. solos still have to work their ass off to get a hit, but if they get a hit they get the kill if their mechanics are good.
I think if you make your strategy revolving around nothing but assists, you have a problem. At least, that’s my opinion. If anything, you should know the characters that you are going to have in your team first so that you have a fall back in case you lose your assists.
Of course, I’m mainly a solo/duo player that doesn’t rely on assists to much, so take for that however you want.
Good luck winning in the future not relying on assists much. The pressure is too strong in this game to not have a strong protective or space control assist available. Just won’t make it in the long run in the meta. Assists are basically the idea of being able to call extra footsies during your footsies. That’s just way too powerful to not consider HEAVILY.
Of course you want to make sure you are actually strong with the character providing the assist once they come out on point. That’s the basics of really learning a team. Mike Z made the game so you don’t have to worry about a character not being capable or being good only for their assist. Which brings more incentive to learn the point game of your assists.
But does that make it not viable? I recently played a duo of Valentine and Double. the rush down here was nearly impossible to react to solo however there are some key holes where you can punish and do damage. but I feel as though you have to be really lucky. I understand the power behind assists of course but i find if you can read and react you should be okay.
I’m pretty sure when the game develops, its gonna be 3v3. Solo teams are a joke IMO. They never will land a hit on me. Trust me, in 6 months time, this game is going to be
point char
point char
assist (double assist butt slam, parasoul anti-air assist, filia anti-air assist or cerebella spinning arms assist)
I’ve been in this FGC forever, so please don’t doubt me
I feel as though zoning might be good enough in this game to warrant a good assist to help you in from time to time. Not like any character you’d want in the second spot wouldn’t be good with any of the previously mentioned assists.
While I imagine we’ll get more trio matches, I suspect we’ll take a quick stop at duo-ville before that happens. This is mostly from me playing against a lot of duo teams, but I don’t play against many trio teams, while solo is in the middle of the two.
I have been playing solo Valentine, and I have recently hit a wall with it. I played a few matches today where no matter what I did, I could not beat the other player. This was even if I had better pressure, and blocking abilities than them. Their assists literally were just a huge one up on me. They could pull it out during a block string, while they were attacking, and especially while I was trying to get on the attack. It left me shut out and blocking most of the time.
Needless to say, I am going to pick up Filia now and use her m.updo assist. I can not stand losing to doubles and triples anymore because their assists are making that BIG of a difference.
I can’t offer advice since I’m waiting for the PC version to come out and you don’t have a replay but I will suggest you watch how MikeZ was dealing with assist during WNF
Then in the grand finals, Severin got 5 straight wins vs Mike Z. That’s a 3 person team getting 5 straight wins vs a 1 person team. Looking at the matches, I felt that Severin’s ability to DHC, more health, assists and having two extra characters to fall back on when one is KO’ed really gave him the edge.
