Soki Combo Elements

This loop stuff is pretty awesome. I’ve been neglecting Souki lately because of the differences between UAS and CGOH but now I see the changes were for the better. I might actually startup my Souki/Karas team again. I’ve been using Condor/Karas instead, now I feel like this could be the better combo because Souki does ridiculous damage and he has tons of health. Good stuff, and if you don’t mind ill be referencing some of this stuff in the other Souki thread.

Silven, hey! Glad this stuff helps out. I initially picked Soki because I loved Dawn of Dreams, had no idea if he was any good or not. Jumped into training mode when I got the game and felt Soki was pretty plain in terms of combos (at first glance, of course hehe). Found most of the stuff you guys (you and tatsu) had in your vids own my own time and when I came across the guides you and tatsu had made, it confirmed I was heading in the same general direction… but I didn’t feel like Soki was really taking advantage of all of his tool. I mean, the game has a “roman cancel” basically, assists, supers with unique properties, and all sort of craziness… definitely had to be more there.

To be honest, a lot of the stuff I was looking for wasn’t even meant for match play, but more “wow!” factor. It turns out that some of the stuff is definitely tournament viable. One thing that I think is HUGE for Soki is the fact that he can do a ton of damage in a few hits… major plus when you consider that mega crash is pretty easy to get! I cut my time exploring Soki short because I needed a break (after a while, every combo starts to feel the same) so I moved to Polimar, Alex, and more recently, Batsu. I still feel there is some hidden goodness within Soki, most notably around ways to get into Oni and capitalize.

If you have any new thoughts to shed, let me know. I’m game for trying new stuff out and coming up with more ways to make Soki a badass! Thanks a lot for the foundations you, tatsu, and everyone else provided.

Perhaps we can put together a collaborative Advanced Soki 2.0 video in the future? Let me know!

You’ve definitely developed a lot more Soki stuff than I have in UAS so you’d have to take all of the credit but an Advanced Soki video involving these new found combos would be quite amazing. I can actually make one right now from all the Youtube clips you’ve provided (lol) but I feel like I should give it a few days since people might come up with more partner stuff that would be a good addition. In fact I’m working on some Karas/Souki setups myself with this loop so I don’t need baroque because the hop-kick method is very wishy washy for me, especially on medium build characters (Zero, Jun) . I’d rather go for something that works on the majority of the cast. I’m gonna mess with it more tomorrow and I’ll let you know when I have time to put a video together.

Also, with Souki doing 40B+ on the regular with baroque I already think he’s a potential top tier. He’s on Frank West’s level now, with the 40B+ combos…not to mention Soki’s is even more versatile due to the addition of his specials like Oni Magic and Oni transformation. I agree that for these uses, Polimar is probably the best choice though. The Tekkaman stuff was pretty crazy too. But yeah, I’m rambling…I’ll check what Karas/Souki can do tomorrow and post anything worthwhile.

I think there’s a lot of stuff we can look into regarding Oni mode transitions and loops. I mean, I know for a fact we can combo into Oni mode, then use 2C BRQ or 2C22C BRQ methods for ridiculous damage and legit Oni loops (the vid I made assumed I had infinite Oni meter).

Hopkick Method is more of a combo video thing. I wouldn’t try it in a real match hehe, but it looks sweet.

In addition to Polimar, I think Ryu would be a great partner due to his assist not even launching, thus allowing for some more heavy hits. Let me know how that Karas stuff goes. I was thinking about trying him next (had some requests on#srktvc).

My Karas/Souki team is totally back. I had a good day of matches with a friend of mine the other day and it was pretty awesome. What I found most reliable in terms of loop startups were:

2C, 22C, Baroque, Loop

623A, Baroque, IAD B, Loop

6C, Issen/Chain, Baroque, IAD B, Loop (jump back when you IAD or else the character overshoots.

The other more complicated setups were a little random for me and I don’t think I’d rely on them for serious matches. If your life depends on it though, the easiest 100% method I would recommend is definitely the 2C, 22C. Sure, it’s a bit less damage but with a good chunk of baroque the 5B,3C repeats will do TONS of damage regardless.

Here are the two things I found regarding this though, nothing that amazing really but may be of use in certain combos.

As of now it seems Soki is guaranteed to get the loop started from anything he does and the endings he can use for it are really versatile. So far you can loop from Issen, 22C, Karas/Polimar assist, and 236A right? I think there could be a few more situations although it isn’t necessary. Can people test with their seconds? I have a feeling the loop can be started from any single or multi hit assist due to the stagger property in the 236A.

edit - By the way regarding the Oni mode semi-iinfinite I think (considering the bar will drain pretty quickly and you’ll have no time to actually absorb souls to increase the duration) that it’s best use is for finishing the last character off. I would never wanna 0 out my bar in the middle of a real match since with the threat of a 30-40% baroque combo from the opposing player I would want to have at least 2 bars after pulling off a non fatal 3C loop combo.

Good stuff Silven! If you are only getting 3 loops, try BC3C, B3C, BC3C and see if that works for the extra hit. Also, compare the damage against the launch combo vs BC2C6C~A+B. You can force them to the ground and apply pressure again due to Soki’s range which allows him to put them into block stun from almsot any roll. Give it a try and see how it works!

As for the Oni stuff, I knew I was neglecting some Soki when I was doing all the Batsu BS. I’ll get back to it tomorrow and see how it goes!

This is some really great stuff. Thanks alot for contributing all this. The 5B portion of the loop is hard to time at first, but its worth the practice.

Yeah, 2C > 22C is pretty solid. I found it because I was looking for something easy

Speaking of, straight up 6C > issen BRQ > loop works in the corner. B3C B3C B3C BC3C > short air combo.

LOL I just spam 5B throughout the combo so that it comes out as soon as it can. FUCK timing!

And LOL at 6C Issen BRQ starting loop. I think I noticed something similar a while ago but didn’t care to report it. I like his more complicated ones. My favorite is 6C, Issen, BRQ, J.b, IADB, loop. It’s soo satisfying and I’ve gotten it to around 80% success rate. If I ever need an 100% confirmed loop (in tournament) I will most likely go for 2C 22C or 6C Issen though

Mmmm, this stuff is too tasty. Soki was always one of my just for fun characters but after messing around with him more and more I’ve decided to put him in my legit lineup. I’ll see if I can find some cool things to add. I already have a couple cool things that I’ve been messing with but I still have to expand on them to achieve the maximum level of gorgeousness. Will get back with findings.

Ok, I’ve been playing Soki and Ippatsuman and a cool thing I’ve found is that you can combo into his 623C with them. The combo goes:

5A, 5B, 2B, 5C, 6C, P, 623C, xxx 6C, Issen, BBQ, etc.

The 6C, Issen, BBQ is the touch of doom combo trag has in the OP, I just don’t know the commands for it yet. But yeah, it’s a pretty sweet combo and doesn’t take any bars. Figured someone could make use of it and get some mega damage going. Maybe chaining 6C, Issen, BBQ into the loop??? Who knows…

Edit: Whoops, just realized trag already did exactly what I was thinking. Pretty much just do the Ippatsuman assist combo into ToD video 4.

hey I made a lil video using zero’s dhc capabilities and I have 2 soki/zero 100% one of them clocked in at 50b damage.

Nice stuff dude the last combo was cool but definitely not practical. So many bars used hehe.

Heh. Not to mention baroque’ing twice.

yeah I know, I wasn’t intending for it to be practical. Zero’s dhc is too much fun lol.
I’m Glad you liked the combo.

Soki and Polimar were made for each other. lol

Anyone messed with Souki’s 6C>B+C into assists? I remember netting extra damage and better oki pressure with Batsu in the old version. Thinking that surely some of the assists or new ideas will lead to extended combos. Can’t test myself

/\ with zero; 6C>B+C>assist hits>3C>5B>5C>3C basically into the mid screen 2 rep loop.

I posted this a couple days ago in the video thread. If some of you haven’t seen it, (the main highlights) it contains soki/zero oni loop setups and some misc combos (48B with zero/cashern). Of course like the title of the vid, it’s just eye candy.

I was messing around and found a Touch of Doom combo sans the BBQ. Easy to do, and probably easier to set up.

B, 2B, C, 6C, 623A (Ryu assist) B, 3C, B, 3C, etc…

The Ryu assist pops them up into it. It ends up being over half life before it fails, and you can end it in B, Oni Magic, 22C for a little extra damage, or add in a BBQ between 6C and 623A to add in a j.C, j.B, B, 2B, C, 6C.

EDIT: I had only originally tested this in the corner, and you can only get one or two loops off mid-screen. You can get I think up to 4 in the corner, so we’ll call this one a corner only Touch of Doom.
