Tangerine, I’m sorry that I suddenly talked to you. I get the impression you had no idea who I was, and I’m sorry I confused you Saturday.
As much as I’d want to support the TvC scene, SoCalRegionals was my measuring meter for how interested people were in playing the game.
Sad to say, I was disappointed. It hurts more when I talked to anyone around @ SCR and seeing that they enjoyed the game, but couldn’t play due to too many factors (don’t have a Wii, don’t have a wii-compatible stick, can’t find a scene near their area, Marvel 3, Giant changing the way the game is played, registration fee held them back).
Being @ WNF is the final nail in the coffin. It doesn’t matter what the reason, the end result is that aside from me and rayzrbyrn, I see no one show up for it anymore.
Given that TvC is a niche game already, I could understand that. But as a game in majors, its finished. It’s had its chance, and the SoCal community has continued to show its support and still continue to play the game, but its pretty much restricted to side tourney material.
My best hope is that a TvC2 will be in the works 4-5 years down the line, and will be open to more systems so that everyone can enjoy it.
But in regards to current TvC… I love the game, but I find it hard to take it seriously anymore. I’m a bit burnt out from SCR, but there will be one last big tourney coming up in two weeks (UGTL 8) on Saturday the 20th , so drop by to come and support TvC. This will probably the last important TvC tourney of the year, as this will be the last time people can showcase TvC and what makes it shine to the public.
I agree that one last tourney would be a great idea, but for that to happen it’ll be restricted to around February, as around March/April MvC3 will drop.
Still, I love playing matches, so if anyone wants to play, I’m always up for it. I’ll still support the TvC scene, but for me, its taking more of a backseat as a form of preparation for MvC3.
