SSVsp is dope… fuckin shame we wont be seeing a console port for that…
as far as Tenka goes Dave i dont own a copy of the game or a ps2 for that matter and im always down to play that game… its not like you didnt get your chance to play the game with us way back man… i played 98 with you man have a heart…
and for the record fuck SS3… now you mad cause im stylin on ya!
If you guys ever need character specific info or even game engine info just ask either me or Giby. We know the game inside and out so ask away at the next gathering. I also prefer SS5 Special over Tenka but I dont mind playing Tenka. I just need to learn what beats what in that game and I’ll be pretty much set.
do you have to counter attack on reaction when JD? what i mean is do you have to input the JD into a special attack for it to work? and how much frame advantage is given when you JD?
it doesn’t seem possible to JD when in the middle of a block string if you didnt JD the first hit of the block string…
JD’s give a lot of frame advantage I’m just not too sure on how many frames but it usually depends on what you JD against.
If your talking about Guard Cancels when you JD there are 2 methods of doing them.
You input your your TOP attack/specials/supers as you JD any attack. I believe it was somewhere around 3 frames of a JD to be able to guard cancel. I’m not a huge frame data person.
You can input your specials/super before you JD. So for example with Terry you can do qcfx2 then press back or down/back to JD anything then just press the button you want to guard cancel into it. This is something that is very needed to the learn in the game. It makes guard cancels so much easier to do more consitant.
There are certain block strings and combos where you can JD inbetween. For example with Jae if they do something like d + B, d + C, qcf + B/D. The second hit of qcf + B/D can be JD’d. Reason is because theres a window there with enough time to leave block stun and be able to counter.
As for pokes yes there are certain pokes that when JD’d and guard cancelled against you will leave you safe. Usuaully most stand + A pokes and d + B’s are known for this. It depends on the character and what they are guard cancelling against you. If they dont guard cancel everything that you can feint cancel into or fast pokes like stand A’s or down + B’s are safe.
To feint cancel with everyone except Grant who cannot feint cancel, you press either fwd+ A + C or dwn + A + C. Grant still has feint moves but he cannot feint cancel any of his normals. I also wrote a huge walk through of the game engine and what you can do in Garou here:
If you need help with anything just ask in the Garou thread or here.
