Where the hell were you Josh? I saw you once the entire evo.
so, if you all haven’t heard, there’s been a discussion in the air about possibly cutting GG from the evo lineup. Tragic has been a firm supporter of the scene from the beginning, yet he’s the one saying GG may be cut. Now why would he say that?
I think the reason behind this is that as a community, we’ve been lazy. Please note I’m speaking about california and i guess west coast only, but how many tourneys do we have out here? how many do we travel to outside of cali? We need to start being active and all that shit.
I was talking to Max last night and we got to the topic of possibly holding a tournament in SLO since it’s in the middle of california and most places can take the train to SLO. The only question is who would go? I would go provided that it’s on a weekend since I have no more holidays that I can use. Please note that i’m not saying there’s a tourney in SLO now, just gauging interest because I talked about possibly having a tourney in SLO sometime in the fall.
But past that, what about traveling outside of cali to the rest of hte usa? to midwest championships? to texas showdown? to final round? who’s interested? Who’s got the time/money? who’s got the drive?

Where’s SLO?
Since I’m bound to have no money by the time Spring semester starts unless I have a job by then, I have to be somewhat cautious with how I spend my money. As long as it’s not too far or expensive, I’ll be willing to go and try out my new experimental character(s).
Also, I’m considering going to a DeVry University down in SoCal, but so far my options are Long Beach, Irvine, Ponoma, and San Diego. I’m leaning toward Irvine, but does anyone have any suggestions? :o
Welcome back from Evo you guys. Hope you had fun.
Regarding the tournament that Kevin is talking about, SLO’s GG community has taken the first step to making this SoCal/NorCal unification tournament a reality. For those who don’t know, SLO is around the central coast of California and can easily be accessed by driving up or down the 101 from either direction. We have all been discussing the idea of holding a tournament since yesterday (although we have been considering it since last year), and we can start taking action once school actually starts since that’s when we’ll be able to secure rooms on campus to hold the event.
Right now we are thinking about Saturday, Nov 10 (not confirmed), with the Monday of Nov 12 being Veteran’s Day, meaning it will be a three day weekend for people who go to school. Anyway, I can’t say much about it right now since nothing is set in stone yet, but we’re planning on making this big. We are hoping to have a date finalized soon so that there will be adequate time for everybody to take time off work, and I’m hoping to get the players from Nevada to come down as well. Another thing we are planning on doing is providing overnight housing for people who will be traveling from afar, since SLO is still pretty far depending on which corner of California you come from. Exact number of how much room will be available hasn’t been tallied yet, but there will definitely be some room.
At any rate, I’ll keep everybody updated as we get more news about this.
And Spirit Juice, if you’re unsure about which college you want to attend, do you know what you want to major in? Selecting a college can sometimes be able easier if you know in advance what you want to major in, since that way you can research which schools have a good program for your concentration. Other things that might sway your interest is the atmosphere of the school, for example, is it in an urban city or rural nowhere? It will really depend on your personal taste. Or you can just go to Irvine because Hellmonkey goes there.
Oh yes, I call this auto-shutdown. Sometimes I’m just resting my eyes, but yeah I’ve got a mean Man-Glare.
As far as the whole traveling to other places deal goes, I agree to a point. I’m all for driving as it costs considerably less to do so when someone like Purrin is nice enough to get behind the wheel. However, as I am still paying for school, bills, tons’o’hobbies, etc, I really doubt I’ll be able to afford plane tickets. If we have dates months in advance it might be possible, but it also kind of puts a damper on my job.
The tournaments at FFA? It’d be cool. I don’t know about you guys but I think it’s kinda silly to spend $10 on an entry fee + loads of money on gas just to play your friends. On the flipside, look at the Ranbats we had at Arcade Infinity, we had 22 entrants at one point, bringing people out of the woodwork I have never seen. That is a good thing. I think in regards to SoCal on a whole, we should just practice as much as we can versus eachother, and travel other places to find new challenges and rep all of our players.
Just my two cents.
