SoCal Casuals in Japan Arcade

with all the restructuring with SuperArcade and the messed up condition of Family Amusement in Vermont, me and group of friends (5dudes) have been trying to either set up casuals or actual tourneys in Japan Arcade. considering the area and the activity that goes on over there (lots to do at night) im thinking its a good spot, also they have nice SSF4AE cabinets and setups (also melty blood,GG,BB etc are in the venue). Super arcade is still open for casuals on Fridays, plus Wednesday and Thursdays for our tournaments and actual good people play there. Japan Arcade doesn’t have an all day rate.

They don’t have consoles though. Are you guys gonna pay $0.50 per game? Bring your own setup and still pay?

the point is to support our arcades, its because of that mentality that arcades are closing down. also talkin to the arcade owner to set something up is not an impossibility. this is just to bring out the local scene, for those who cant drive all the way to walnut. and fyi japan arcade has gotten a serious upgrade so i dont see how japan arcade cant become a good venue.<br>

Japan Arcade has definitively improved. They have everything from 3S to GGXXAC. Since its a bit closer to me I’m usually there on Fridays.

Btw does anybody know what happened with the Savior cab? A friend of mine went to the arcade to play some Savior/Jojo but we found one of those SNK cabs instead.

It would be really cool if you could get casuals going on at japan arcade. I don’t have a car to make it out to super arcade so if we could get something going closer that would be awesome. count me in.<br>

how are toasty casuals for Persona? I know Numakie always runs Melty Blood but are there a lot of people for Persona? Dustloop is not as active as here just curious.

dont know really, it would all depend if we can get room to set up consoles and the amount of people willing to bring set ups and just the amount of people that would want to play in general. Our main focus is SFF4 but running other setups would be great as well.<br>

imma try to be @ japan arcade this saturday, ill see if i can get a hold of the owner and try to work something out. hopefully we can get a good number of people to convince him to let us set up, if we are able to make something work ill let u know about running ST, but like i said our main interest is SSF4.<br>

I’ve been running Events on the Melty Blood cabinet every Friday @9p on. (I set up my recording stuff at 8p). Last one I did was a double elim tournament which I recorded and will post on my YouTube channel… Once I get Internet up at my new place. The events are usually no venue fee/pay to play.

Just a quick heads up with regards to streaming. I have tried to do streaming for Melty the past month with mixed success. Now I just record straight and post on YT, which works for me.<div><br></div><div>Anyways, here are some bullet point issues I came across.</div><div>- Japan arcade does not have Internet/wireless.</div><div>- I have tried streaming using my phone with 300-400mbs. Results are mixed. Thanks for the heads up. I’m planning on streaming using a 4G connection with USB tethering off the laptop. Hopefully that’ll provide a decent 480p stream, but I’ll have to test it out at the arcade. Worst case scenario: I just record the matches and upload them like you did.

does staff read this?

I realized there were a few problems with the bracket tonight, which I feel dumb about now because I looked it over.

All 4 byes were placed in the bottom 4 spots. Can’t do this cause it puts byes in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the brackets.
It appeared like the players weren’t getting switched from the top of the bracket to the bottom and vice versa when they entered the losers bracket. Kaz (UR) lost to double jeopardy. I actually couldn’t have seen this obviously lol
