Buy a PDP or MadCatz pad?
My GF is getting me a Hori EX 2 for my x-box 360 on my birthday.
She is just a complete sweetheart!! <3 <3
You should take her out to dinner as a thank you, make sure she knows how awesome she is .
Let me ask you this…would you play SF on a MK layout?
sf player here, when I play sf i use a TE stick.
but since everything in MK is basically chained, the need for a stick really isnt there. MK is a casual/fun game, its mechanics are very easy. I can do all the combos ive wanted to do so far on a pad no problem. The thing thats hard to get used to on a pad is dashing.
I’m going to echo this. For me it’s either use a stick with that game’s intended layout or just use pad. A pad is not worse than a stick with a shoehorned configuration.
i play on a kinnikuman muscle grand prix layout
Well seeing as I used to play SF on a layout that was virtually identical to the default MK layout I probably could.
I would. I have, in fact. It’s hilarious.
LOL i did too for a little while until i got a SF layout AIAB. i cant use balltops! but it wasnt all that hard, i just didnt use all 6 buttons like i would if i had the SF layout.
regardless, its not recommended. & vice versa.
I don’t know dude. Like I said, this could have been relevant for the old-school MK games. If you asked me where I’d map the run button on a SF layout, I would sit for hours scratching my head. But in place of the run button in MK9, you have a new tag button which requires no more than a tap of the finger. If you would argue that holding block when it’s set to roundhouse is problematic, then I would advise you play El Fuerte in SF4 and practice with his :hk: Q-bomb. Try my layout for a while and then see if it clicks with you. :karate:
Thankfully I was playing Akuma on 3S, so I was able to just ditch MP and map Block to MK. Considering how frequently I use MK as Akuma, it actually kind of made the experience a little easier for me, hahaha.
Not just you OP. MK is the only fighting game I’ll play on a pad. Especially anything after MK1 through 3. MK isn’t a game of fast twitch reflexes imo. At least the newer ones. I can play this new one much more slowly and methodically than say, something like 3S. I’d never play any SF with a pad. My execution would suffer. Besides, I can’t play an MK game with a stick set up for SF. Just doesn’t work. Now, if I had the MK stick, that might be a different story but I really don’t need it since the pad works for me.
