It has everything in a fighting game like cancels, footsies, guard breaks, zone attacks and parries but it adds in the brilliant directional attack and blocking mechanics of Mount and Blade as well as the friendly fire mode.
I know a lot of you aren’t into 3D combat but this game offers a wider variety of game maodes so you can have your 1v1 fix as well as experiment with teamplay.
Been awhile since I’ve browsed this forum but I thought there would be some discussion going on already even though it’s still in beta.
See the other thread. If you’re in EU you might be able to still snatch a beta code through SCARS program, otherwise you need to be invited by a friend or someone else.
if Ubisoft actually bothered to allow story and duels to be offline supported, the FGC would take it more seriously since they don’t need the internet to continue playing it. this is the worthy successor to the Bushido Blade, Soul Calibur and Samurai Shodown series that fans can enjoy overall in For Honor’s unique revolutionary style of dueling and melee combat.
Fighting game fans demanding innovation and evolution for the weapons fighting genre, would really punish themselves underrating For Honor’s combat, gameplay and competitive qualities.
Even genres like Dynasty Warriors games should adopt its combat system, camera, soldiers a.i., and graphics levels.
this is as next gen as melee fighting and duels have achieved
“Pushing opponents into fires. Time to break out the marshmallows!
This is a deep game. I think Ubisoft has a hit on their hands.”
"VERY different. This game is more like a fighting game than Mount and Blade. Spend a few hours dueling and you’ll pick up how many nuances there are in the combat system. It’s extremely deep, with every usual fighting game mechanic on top of the Soulsborne-esque character control. "
"From what I’ve played though I’ve had an absolute blast. It’s a fighting game in chivalry: medieval warfare’s clothing. The gameplay variety in terms of characters is INSANE. No two characters feel the same during combat, and I think that’s what surprised me the most. "
"Tried out the 1v1 duel mode. This is a FIGHTING GAME.
Although not as reaction and execution focused. It’s simplified and more about mind games. As someone who struggle to keep up with the complexity of most fighting games, I am really digging this.
Guard break really isn’t a big deal. You get a very long window to deflect guard throws or just quick attack to prevent it. It’s much easier than throw teching in most fighting games.
“this game man…this game is hype as f***. i can feel myself getting better every match i play.
I’m all in on this.”
“Having an absolute blast playing this. Was looking forward to this and i’m glad I wasn’t disappointed. Picking this up day one for sure.”
“I liked the combat, feeback is good, directional strikes and guards is a good idea and IMO is well implemented here, makes for some great intense 1-1 fights.
The salt is real in duels.
I live for this s***.”
“This game looks absolutely insane on the PS4 Pro. And those animations are fantastic. I’m a bit taken back by how fluid, polished and high quality everything feels.”
They say the same thing about Virtua Fighter. Yet, its all surface level bullshit and they don’t know how far the rabbit hole goes or the freedom it allows.
At some point you assholes are gonna realize that this is a site for arcade style fighter and not whatever bullshit comes up that has some form of combat.
Because, combat aside, For Honor’s multiplayer actually follows shooter conventions and not 1 on 1 fighting game conventions. As such it’s not a fighting game and doesn’t really below in this sub-forum.
If you’d like, you can continue discussing the game in its existing thread.
