I saw the trailer for him and was really interested. He reminded me of a slower Hazama from Blazblue(I hated fighting Hazama though). Although I was also shocked that there were a lot of views on the trailer but no comments, no news about him from Capcom, nothing. It made me want to know more about him cause I’ve never played a Bionic Commando game and to me he seemed like he was the best character in the game.
I was set to main him from the get-go because I love Bionic Commando (yes, even the 2009 one). Seeing the trailer however didn’t lift my spirits at all. He somehow just didn’t make my heart race like some other character reveals. When I got the game it all changed because playing him opened my eyes to a new level of kickass. Spencer is just my type from having a command throw to a unique movement-tool. Then Combofiend made him look awesome on the stream which just made it all even better.
Bionics for life.
Besides being a Bionic Commando fan, I wanted to main Spencer since I saw his reveal trailer. I thought he had lots of potential. After finally playing with him, I come to really like hime and he is always on my team for every match (unless I’m just messing around or playing with the girlfriend).
I thought he was Spencer from RE series, and he is re-ARMed and ready to ki… Punch ass.
I face-palmed so hard when I look through Spencer Bio.
I main Spencer because I am a huge fan of the Bionic Commando series. Loved ReArmed 1 and the classic NES game.
Grappling arm. It gives me mobility when I need to get out of a sticky situation or go in after the opponent does a move with lengthy recovery from afar.
Combofiend. Also, Bionic… AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARM.
One day, I just had this sudden thought to play as him, and I realized that his playstyle was plain awesome. It’s really satisfying to beat someone to death with a robotic arm, y’know?

Saw Combofiend take down Marn with Spencer at Final Round and that inspired me 
I’m a fan of the Bionic Commando games (Started with Rearmed, have now played through them all except the 3D one) and Spencer as a character. The best part is I love his playstyle and enjoying him the most out of all the characters. I will have a team with him on point when UMvC3 comes out as well. Also, Bionic Lancer trolls hard.

I mained Spencer because I a) needed a projectile counter to my team and b) needed someone who could easily move around the screen when an opponent whiffed something from afar, and c) BIONIC AARRRRRRRRMMMMM!!!
I was looking for a replacement for my MvC2 team since Rockman was missing in action. Felicia and Gouki were already in, so I decided to put Spencer in because he seemed really cool and I really like Bionic Commando.
I didn’t want to use Zero because, quite frankly, after his overuse and annoyances in TvC, I grew to hate him.
Before DLC for MvC3 kind of stopped, I was hoping he’d get a retro-Spencer costume, too.
Kinda sucks that now nearly everyone I face thinks I use Spencer because of players like Combofiend. >_>
hate how combofiend plays spencer. its cool that he uses him, but not how.
Yeah, same deal with Clockwork and Doom. You have all these people who don’t know dick about the characters praising both these guys (and they are excellent players, don’t get me wrong), but they only use their characters to about 40% of their potential. What’s more irritating is when they finally catch on to something either board has been discussing for a good 5 months, they’re suddenly lauded as innovators?
I mean, get a clue.
No offense dude but your coming off as a hater, Cl0ckwork has been recognized as one of the best Doom’s in MvC2 and MvC3 vanilla. I’m not all about the dick riding but I give credit where is due. If you can use Doom in anyway nearly as good as Clockwork then ill shut my trap, but in the mean time be ashamed that he is basking all the glory of all your innovations.

If he took 5 minutes to learn proper combos he would be that much better. I know he’s a phenomenal player, but the stuff he does is really sub par sometimes.
I use him because I needed someone that:
- can build a bar easily in a single combo
- can start the dhc glitch
- does decent damage
- has decent health
- has interesting mobility options that aren’t just flight
was playing arcade mode and randomed him and he clicked after realizing he fit the criteria
and then watching kuuron vids solidified him as a pick on the squad
In my case, I was looking to rebuild my marvel team from scratch 'cause what I was using wasn’t working for me. Friend of mine gave me several suggestions for point characters and I picked Spencer. Best choice I’ve ever made; easily is my favorite character and probably my strongest.
