The source code being the same probably is the problem. The 360 and PS3 system architectures are totally different, and, for example, if you take a 360 game?which probably dumps all the heavy processing onto its Xenos GPU?and straight port it to PS3?where its RSX isn’t as fast as the Xenos but can push calculations to the SPUs (something the 360 doesn’t even have)?you can run into performance issues.
You also have to factor in that the two consoles actually have different APIs and programming guidelines, so it would actually be impossible for the source code to be exactly the same.
Call it like you see it BUT, dropped inputs and speed differences is a huge issue. I can stand the current online set up if the other issues are actually addressed.
It’s not about people getting spoiled, even though I’ll admit Remix has one of the best netcoding of any fighter out there, if not the best. It’s that a superior version of Remix exists on XBL, slightly better, but better anyways. And Capcom ought to re-patch it to make both products as equal as possible. I’m highly skeptical that Capcom will do this though. I heard some poster mention taking the issue to Sony directly, and that sounds like a better idea IMO.
So I take it that Crapcom doesn’t do quality checks and verify that customers like their products? Or only the products that sell millions to a crowd that will only play for a few months until the next big thing comes out?
wow. i’m so glad i’m not the only one with major connection problems…
i’m getting an error when trying any online mode right now and it sucks cuz i actually wanted to play for a bit.
i agree 100% that playing this game online is mostly frustration. and it’s not about being spoiled or quality checks. if they care about QC, then where are the patches? awards?? personally, i saw little/no difference with the last patch.
i think we all gotta speak up a bit cuz with me it’s not only the disconnections, but matchmaking, better room options, etc
First, you have to get your developer back to even do a patch. Then, you have to run the patch through the QA process?either internally or outsourced. Then you have to submit it to first party and hope it passes. Then you have to pay a $10,000 patch fee.
While $10,000 is basically chump change for a publisher like Capcom, the devs and QA people (and producers who will be handling the project) all need to be paid. That adds up to a huge budget for a patch that may or may not make more money for your game.
AH! So thats the problem. Well, my outlook on the subject just got really grim. It kind of makes me weary of even getting games as they come out because I don’t know if capcom has done right by both versions. That is really shitty, wow.
Oh I understand that, but I’m still under the impression that they did something illegal by allowing two different versions of the game on two different systems, one obviously inferior and they are the same price.
I know it costs money to do a patch, but customers are suppose to be important to a company regardless of how small the product is.
I experienced a little better connection w/ the patch for HDR online on PS3 once I got it, but I still didn’t have a stick at the time so I didn’t play it enough to where I guess the crashes would happen a lot.
Can any one explain why HDR doesn’t remember my button configuration since the patch?
I never had it default on me before the patch, now any time I fire up HDR I have to go in and change the button config. It is annoying as hell and to top it all off there is a 5 second stall when i go into options, it’s minor but still completely unnecessary.
I hope they respond to that post in some form. It would be great to get this game up to par. I personally don’t give a shit if they fix MvC2 bc honestly I don’t see it happening to the standard that every one wants online, I just want my HDR working.
