So what did you guys think of Melty Blood?

i liked it. would buy it on ps3, my ps2 doesnt work anymore.

Here would be my early take on the Evo 2K11 lineup

SSF4
MvC3
HDR
T6

Okay that leaves two spots, I bet they’ll run back the Women’s Tournament but that doesn’t really take up a spot per se.

Ono is going to announce a new project which if its done by EVO 2k11 (and its a fighting game) will be on the roster and then Blazblue will probably get the sixth spot with Continuum Shift… I don’t see where Melty comes back as a main stage game at EVO… I’d be happy to be wrong though, I don’t know if I could PLAY Melty… but I damn sure enjoy watching it.

I agree, Melty needs a new release to make a splash in the US. MBAACC on XLBA/PSN please??? Until then, all we can do is spread the word. I bring my PS2 and game to almost every tournament I go to, even if I can only get one more person interested that’s still a new face to the scene.

Tekken killed the hype that day for me temporarily. I just saw way too many Law players.

I could only hope, I want Melty to thrive so netplay at this time is sort of a must. I would have brought another Melty setup to Evo this year as well but I left my Ps2 up in Oregon x.x stupid, I know.

So despite having 1000+ votes on the player’s choice poll, only ~150 showed up? wow…

So despite having 800+ votes on the player’s choice poll, only ~70 showed up? wow…

See what I did there?

I’m sure everyone expected that. All sorts of dumb shit could’ve been going down to gather more votes.

Further proof that online polls aren’t a good way to do things like that, but hey, you work with what you got.

I’m sure everyone expected that. Online polls aren’t really a good gauge for participants. Hell, there were probably tons of people who either did multiple votes, asked their non MB-playing friends to vote, or people who voted yet knew they weren’t going.

Melty Blood seems liek an excellent $15-20 PSN/XBL game

That would be the best $15 game ever, beating out some retail games in music content, sprite colors, character numbers, stage selections.

Really, all I want is to play it on a USB port.

So despite having 2,000,000+ netplayers for SSF4; only ~2000 showed up? wow.

150 is a great showing; it’s better than some main EVO staples have brought in the past.

snip

There were way more than 70 entrants for MvC2.

The Cannons actually said that the Sunday finals schedule was based on the registration numbers and SRK traffic logs for each game (source), so that would imply that Melty Blood was the least popular game in the lineup since they ran the finals for it first thing in the morning.

Anyway, I’m sure Melty is a great game, but I really don’t think it made a big enough splash to warrant another appearance at next year’s Evo, unless maybe a new version comes out on XBOX/PS3 this year.

I could probably get behind this argument in an alternate universe where said “elegant simplicity” wasn’t represented by a really hideous, amateurish, bad-even-for-anime art style. But then again TYPE-MOON so what are you gonna do, I guess.

I thought it might be. But I was basing it off the numbers here.

In any case I was just trying to point out the stupidity of his argument. Like everyone who voted in the poll has the ability to get to the event. 1 out of every 8th guy who voted is a pretty damned fucking good ratio if you ask me. The MB community just did a great job garnering friends outside of their community and even if not everyone who voted for MB was even particularly into MB, I think that says a lot for the commitment these guys have. Screw the haters. You’re all just hating. Most of them can’t even come up with a coherent argument for their points and just resort to pointless name calling.

I hope the game is there again next year.

Even if it isn’t, I’m glad that EVO opened the path between JP and US MB.

Yeah, Chelsea had a blast, and Garu found some decent competition; I’d say they’d definately try and come out again if we had Melty EVO a second time, I’d even say that after they get done telling stories, we can expect even more Japanese players coming if we have a second.

I hope we see them again, they were cool, especially Chelsea.

Off Topic: Due to your avatar I now want to bring a Touhou setup to Evo next year for casuals :l Tenshi ftw

I hope so too, and nice job in the tourney LK!
