Make sense. This year BB was “bumped” for Melty Blood.
No, it wasn’t. Why do people keep saying this? BB was “bumped” for MvC2.
no it wasn’t, melty blood won the players choice poll, bb gave up their spot for marvel.
I know the story. BB community didnt want to play Arakune vs Nu. So they opted out of EVO. Melty was voted in as a wild card.
Thats why I put “bumped” in quotation marks.
I’m confused by your posts.
You are aware that the BB bump for marvel and The Player’s Choice poll were two completely independant events; right?
Like, one would still have happened without the other.
Everytime I see these “anime girl battles!” games everyone always uses the same character.
And you can’t even play this game if you live in america.
That’s what I think.
The h-koha mirror in grand finals was a bit disappointing in that it gave the incorrect impression about MBAA’s diverse cast of competetively viable characters. The game effectively has 80-some characters (each moon choice changes not only the system ala CvS2 grooves but the moveset and sometimes even movement options as well) and somewhere around half of them could realistically do well in tournament play. This was represented very well by Kusanagi’s h-aoko play (as she’s definitely not a high tier char), especially considering he beat Garu’s (the jp player that won singles) h-kohaku twice during the team tourney on Saturday and his h-v.sion during the top 8. Overall I thought it had a very strong showing for a game that has yet to have a U.S. or current gen release and definitely hope to see it at Evo again next year!
Oh yeah… props to Redrapper on his intro for the top 8, that shit was spot on.
edit* Kelter Skelter: Show up to a tourney sometime and that might be a relevant opinion. That’s what I think.
The game can’t grow on such a limited system; it needs a master release on a next-generation console.
I love the game but it will die if not released on a better console and in America. It’s not bad enough I feel like a pedo playing this game, but I have to jump through a million hoops to play it too?
Yeah, Ecole and french bread have really dropped the ball on the american market; hopefully either they or a localization company was listening to EVO and we can see some melty stateside soon.
Fun fact; via MBread’s contacts we sent a letter from Mr.Wiz to Ecole regarding EVO, asking if they wanted to set up a booth or have a prescence of some sort at EVO; you know what they sent?
Ten copies of MBAA.
That was hype as hell, agree with the whole jumping through hoops to play Melty being a problem, but thats a problem with the game itself, not it’s presence at Evo which provided so really fun to watch matchs.
(Still got fingers crossed for Current Code getting onto a current gen console lol)
I’d try it if it was on 360.
That is all.
I’d try it if it was on 360.

Melty at EVO was awesome. I’d vote it to be in again. Hopefully this appearance at EVO will encourage Ecole to make this for DLC on PSN/XBL.
this is a one time shot for MB im afraid… Many new games coming out next year
While I think it looks like a decent game, if the developer doesn’t care enough to give a reasonably priced US release, and I have to pay $70 to import it, pay for an import solution, I don’t care to give the game any support.
I remember having this discussion at the MBAA casuals in the BYOC. In EVO2011 we can safely assume the following games being in the lineup…
Super Street Fighter IV
Tekken 6
BlazBlue: CS
Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Street Fighter II: HD Remix
The sixth and final spot is up in the air. Personally I’d like to see another player’s choice poll because you get great feedback from the various communities. But considering that there’s most likely going to be a new KOF and MK, the bid to keep Melty is going to be tough.
I’ve been playing Melty for a long time now and because Melty was an official game, this is the first time I’ve traveled out to EVO in 5 years. It was great to finally put faces to all the names I’ve encountered via MiRC, netplay and Melty Bread forums. I was also impressed to see many underrated areas such as Oklahoma and even Dagger_G represent. I’d like to see the Melty community grow but that’s dependent on who’s willing to take that extra step to acquire the game and create communities.
I was at Evo (I’m still in Vegas actually) and I didn’t see ANY Melty Blood. Not one match. I didn’t purposefully avoid it, I just never saw it… I actually forgot about it until I saw this thread. lol
Same here I traveled just for Melty but joined Super since I was there anyway. I agree that we probably wont see Melty as a main title next year even though I hope we at least get some side tourneys going (I would go just for that :woot:)
Worth it 100% to play Arlieth and get hype in the finals especially:cool:
Really? Wow, I know for a fact we had around 4-5 setups going in the back for Melty on Saturday and 2-3 early Friday before the 5pm tourney off the top of my head.
I’d play it but there’s no netplay and I don’t think there’s a local scene here in Torino
