So That New Karate Kid Movie

THIS

Thank you for the hype. I am watching this and A Team this weekend.:karate:

I’m gonna watch this tonight

Just saw it.

Entertaining. Has good moments and they followed the classic formula.

SuicidalGrandpa’s avatar is a clip of a samurai flick about a blind kickass samurai that whoops everybody’s ass…

the rutger hauer movie called “blind fury” was based on it.

anybody that hasn’t seen it should see it. even if its a bit nonsensical japanese flick.

–i don’t really care about karate kid.

Why bother posting this?

And actually that avatar from SuicidalGrandpa was from newest Zatoichi film which came out 2003 which stars Takeshi Kitano, Blind Fury came out in the 80s…

Blind Fury was based on the old Zatoichi films staring the legendary Shintaro Katsu which blows away those two films…

lol@ blind fury. white people as blind samurai’s. look at this shit…hilarity

Kid looks like a shrimp to me, just too young. In the original, he was a senior in high school. This kid looks like he’s 12.

Bullshit IMO.

so what, people are nitpicking like a muthafucker. who the fuck is still getting picked on in their senior yr anyways.

It was a decent film, i think my dad still have a copy of this on Betamax

nah i remember catching it when i was little…it was before i knew what it was based on. it was cute cause they did it like a kids movie.

I was pretty impressed with it. Wasn’t any better or worse than the original, it actually felt like it coud stand on its own. Of course, if you’ve watched the original enough, you saw a lot of stuff coming, but they threw a few things in that were somewhat different.

I was definitely drawn in. I came in there thinking “OMG I hope they don’t bludgeon the original,” and went out saying “Wow.”

And finally, Jackie Chan actually looked like a serious actor.

Jackie was pretty serious in Shinjuku Incident.

Haven’t seen it, so I’ll have to grab on Netflix while I take your word for it.

Since someone brought up Zatoichi:

FYI.

I enjoyed it, but it was almost a scene-for-scene remake imo.

This quote is the problem with remakes: if you do a scene by scene facelift, people complain that you did that, if you throw in some other shit, people complain that you did some other shit. Remakes are the Street Fighter 4 of movies.

Zatoichi seems to be pretty fucking awesome… watching it atm… heh blind nigga samurai…

Appreciate this. I’ve been looking a lot of places for this to determine whether the modern version was worth buying or not.

exactly what my friends said.

i’ll try to see it today for myself.

On principle I decided I would stay away from the movie. However it looks like people are saying this may actually be half-decent? So did they pull it off, all things considered?
